Match Thread Coventry City vs Fulham (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Sat 24th October (3pm KO)

I’m talking in general and not just for this game.

The passing, the pressing, the running, the anticipation, finding the space. Nothing we’re doing is quick enough. It is not up to standard. At all.
We're a newly promoted team in a league that is levels above the last one we were in. If you think we were going to seamlessly migrate into it you are pretty deluded.

BTA got away with that. Should have been a pen

should that have been a pen to them?
Yep seen them given. Maybe us clinging on to the ball for a few mins at the end helped sow a few doubts in the VAR team and mean they couldn't make a snap decision

Not sure what hes supposed to do with the 200 long balls hes had to work with in fairness

Asante continues to offer zero quality
His movement isn't great and when we've got the ball in the box he hasn't shown that goalscorers instinct

BTA lucky to get away with that, looks a fairly clear pen.

Front four doing OK individually but not working together well as a unit.

Dasilva's touch and passing has been exemplary, but Bobb has been causing him problems.

Would like to see Gboho soon and see if he can give us something different

Fulham are there for the taking but we don't look like we know how to break them down. Rudoni the only bright spot in a tepid midfield. Surely Lampard must have seen enough of Grimes BTA & Saka to know that they aren't the solution

About as expected really. Drab game, low on quality, but beyond their lad hitting the post, not much other threat.

I still stand by 1-1, but could even be 0-0 at this rate.

Yirenyki looking well out of depth today I’m afraid.

Truth is if it stays this drab you accept it for what it is and take the point. We don't want to be Hulled again. We'd have been annoyed with a draw there but in hindsight it would have been another important point.
That's exactly what it will be unless we pick the pace up.

That last VAR was stupid. Bassey grabbed him then he grabbed him back. Nonsense it was even checked

All a bit meh for me so far. I hate all these aimless long balls straight to their defenders. We give the ball away too easily and far too often.

Boring game but we competing again. Would like to see more attacking intent second half and gboho and emc on at some point. Important not to lose it though

Yirenkis been fine. There most definitely is an agenda against him from some posters
He just needs a steady player next to him like Bobby has with Pinnock. Grimes dropping deep means it’s just Caleb on his own in the middle

Im struggling to see it , every cross hits first man or fulham head .

Is what it is , asante will score the occasional goal and he works hard but we are losing quality in the final 3rd with whats on the bench

We do far too much backing off when out of possession, only ever seem to win it back by mistake. And we are ridiculously slow, indecisive and timid in possession.

I dont mind drawing today , but beat the mackems

Its just been a bad match to watch 😂

Decent half. Fulham are a real possession side so the pattern is as expected. BTA and Rudoni most lively for us. Don’t get the BTA hate
Hate? Bit strong. Some people just pointing out he is not good enough to start, always plays like a headless chicken with little to none finesse

I think some of our supporters are deluded - do we think we are going to dominate established PL teams?

Every time Yirenki gets on the in ball he wants to turn backwards, if Grimes was as regressive in his passing this board would fall over.

There was a var check going on for that last minute, basset donkey pulled Asante out of the way and then received the same back with a semi jump to accentuate his effort, luckily he didn't get rewarded

Caleb Yirenkyi playing like exactly what he is...a high potential 19 year old, but he's adaptation to this standard is slower than I think we all anticipated.

Hmm. I don’t think it’s too much to have thought we’d have shown even slight improvement in the mentioned departments. Was the hope to survive by looking as championship as fuck?
