Match Thread Coventry City vs Sunderland (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Sat 31st October (3pm KO) (10 Viewers)

Just catching up with Soccer Saturday and at the end of the game O'Nien went up to Saka and obviously said something really nice to him, seriously. Saka smiled, and O'Nien gave him a lovely "pat" when he moved away. I know O'Nien has this reputation on the pitch, although most would like him on their side, and he was probably their best player today, but I do think he is very sporting & genuine at the end of games.

Not only were we watching a COMPLETELY different game, but he’s been rated (for the stat lovers) as one of the worst on the pitch today.

If the person doing that was in his 30s or more I'd say fuck em, but youngsters are fucking stupid, but they dont deserve the sort of shit this can bring down on them.

And let's not forget, apart from the Jimmy stuff they had a bit of a repertoire about Bobby Robson as well.

So glad the Internet was around when I was younger. Though I believe there are a couple of incriminating sketches and couple of Polaroids knocking around
In all honesty their like a certain club that plays in red.Its never their fault.Just off to hoy some shit and bottles at families.Fuck Sunderland.

Yeh not from me. Sunderland fans are disgusting. This is pretty rank behaviour but anyone grassing one of ours against these hypocrites can get in the bin.
Honestly, though, he held it up hoping for a response, and he will certainly get one. Unfortunately for him, it could also be considered a possible section 4a public order offence too.

Sunderland fans singing about Jimmy Hill or anyone dead is reprehensible, and even if I think some Sunderland fans are hypocrites and can get in the bin, I can't condone this type of behaviour.

Presume he is young, but hopefully will learn, but such a dumb, and horrendous, thing to do.

Just through the door. Brilliant.
Thought we looked excellent at times today. Sunderland are a bit shite.

Some great moments. Yes!

O'nien is one of those players the Sunderland fans love but opposition fans hate.
Personally ive always rated him, he's Sunderland through and through and always gives 100%, hes worked his socks off to get to the level he's at, (a bit like our own Josh Eccles) a genuine guy on and off the pitch.
Theres a good interview with him on youtube about his career, which is well worth a listen.

Just dont get why people do this , A: Its a poor child thats died from cancer . B: you will be sanctioned

Silly behaviour

Yeah, old enough to know what he’s doing. Difficult to believe that football and chants can get under anyone’s skin enough to do something so stupid they know will get them in big trouble. But here we are.

Little bastard. Hope he gets banned.

Unfortunately all fanbases have these eejits and we are no exception.
this is true, and also it’s reflective of society as a whole today - the current younger generation have no moral compass, no common sense and no fear of consequence

Lock the kid up and throw away the key, it’s disgusting and in no way defendable, and anybody who has tried needs to take a long look in the mirror

I don’t think it’s much to do with a younger generation / a generational thing. There’s plenty of older people who have done similar (or worse) at games and elsewhere (Sunderland fans too!).

Does however fall on older people to step in and tell them how to behave really. He doesn’t need locking up as he looks about 14, but certainly needs a stark warning.

He looks slightly older, but nonetheless he does need punishment as strong as it can be - he should be locked away, for his own safety as much as anything else…

The current generation?!
Leeds were taunting the police about the Yorkshire ripper in the 70s.
Liverpool were doing the same to Man U about Munich.

Some peopel are cunts, always have been

Only reason you didn't see things like this in the past is they would have had to print out an a4 picture 20 years ago

This thread should be all about the City getting our season back on the rails. Another full stadium, club capitalising and the city of Coventry enjoying the fruits too.
There will always be embarrassing fuckwits supporting every club. The youngsters should be being steered towards being ambassadors for the City not part time morons .

Sorry Clint, you were defending the little c**t a minute ago…

so you think he shouldn’t have to answer for what he did?

In which post was I defending him, can you post a link please?

I can link posts where Ive said its disgusting and I hope his old man gives him a thick ear.

but I dont want his life ruined because of an immature moment of stupidity

100% agree. I said this to my brother pre kick off. He’s a lovely chap off the pitch. Great professional- but glad he lost today.
I’ve got a mate who works with O’Nien’s sister. Says he’s a lovely bloke. Went to watch Kylie in concert with him. True story…

Throw away the key ffs

Positive, assertive, two proper wingers starting, Awoniyi also starting and Torp replacing Grimes - was a real tonic for us.

Mfuni is a proper ball playing CB and it’s between Pinnock and Thomas for the other slot IMO!
Awoniyi either has to start, or not play at all. He just doesnt have any impact off the bench. Doesn't add anything when chasing a game. If Cherif starts, then it has to be Simms off the bench and not Awoniyi.

We don't have two weeks. We've just been soundly beaten by one of the worst teams to ever grace the Premier League.
Are they not the 3rd EVER lowest points in a single PL season? Yet saying we're one of the worst to grace the PL? Thats comical

I find it difficult to tell if you're a troll, or if are you genuinely a bit weird about things.

I think “ban him and hope his dad takes away his pocket money” is fair “bring down the hellscape of twitter on his ass” probably not.

Similar to Newcastle game. We just look so much better against teams that come to play and don’t sit back (like hull and Fulham)

Far better intensity and urgency to get ball in box quicker. Rudi and Mfini probably MoTM. Sakamoto, MvE, Yirenkyi and Torp all good, Gboho definitely more of a threat on the wing and will hopefully only get better. Rushwortb looked more confident as well

Rudonis is just a joy to watch at the moment and is also doing more miles/kms than any city player. Defo a case of enjoying him while he’s here
We were way to open against Newcastle and perhaps a touch lucky. We completely controlled the game yesterday.
