So annoying that the likes of Redknapp and Hendrie can see the infringements, but the people actually paid to see them can't.
Its not that they dont see them its that the rules are too subjective and open to interpretation which makes them pointless

If Gboho doesn’t fuck that pass to Awoniyi for 2-0…then it could’ve been 2-0!
Alot of people moaned on here after saying Awoniyi was at fault fot not being clinical but THIS was the moment. I dunno wtf Gboho was thinking. We were 2 on 1 ans he had 10 yards ahead of him and he just blindly passed it to their defender

Just a thought. As VAR couldn’t give a foul on awonyi as they deemed it outside box. And as ref never blew for a foul at all why then did VAR not give a penalty for handball as their player clearly fell in the ball and handled it?
Because they didn't want us to have anything. Easy as that.

Fine margins. If we had got those decisions we could realistically have been 2-3 goals in front before Everton woke up. The story of our season is that we are going to do nearly enough to get a result in most games but will just fall short.

Ive seen enough now to know we are capable of giving it a go and have a real chance of staying up. The difference is that we have to be at the top of our game to even compete, and every opponent has levels above that they can go to if they need it. We were gassed after 60 mins and everyone knew there was no way back.

I had the feeling once those pen claims went against us we our heads would drop, so was surprised when we went in front but once they equalised it was inevitable.

Went to bed furious, woke up furious. Look we can keep talking about those VAR decisions as ‘mistakes’ but deep down we all know surely that they were not mistakes or errors they were premeditated conscious bias. Those corrupt officials were already primed to give us nothing last night. In a world where humanity glorifies criminality and gangs and fraud through the TV and films and the media it’s hard when it’s 4 blatant decisions to think about anything other than cheating!
These decisions turned the game on its head and I think our players and manager knew after a while it was happening but were powerless to protest it.

Liverpool had I think the most wrong calls so it’s not small club bias. They didn’t even think the shirt pull on Isaak against Arsenal was a penalty the other week and that would have been a red card as well

Where the season is concerned, it’s not VAR that will cost us. It’s the frailties and the vulnerability that’s easy for teams to probe. We were clearly tired last night and still piling forward, which I suppose is good, we have to win somehow. But lose the ball up top, which happens way too much and the opponent is in our box seconds later with us chasing well behind.

Lampard didn’t know what to do with us last night. There’s hardly an abundance of quality on the bench.

Said it yesterday but we're a couple of quality signings away from being a quality side, IMO. Last night we played with a lot of intensity and they couldn't cope with it but we then couldn't keep it up - subs should have been made as soon as it went 2-1.

We competed against, and for long periods were better than, a good PL team again. If we go down - and we all know that's a real possibility - we won't have gone down rolling over like some teams do. And we keep improving. It's still 3 wins in 6, remember.

Yeah, we should’ve had decisions go our way. But the game was over when we scored. Yes, we look physically spent after 60 mins like we have done all season - how people can’t see that is a bit weird. But to score and drop off totally is shite.

Agree it was frustrating, not quite as simple as just that though. They were losing at home and suddenly threw men foward and played with far more intensity. I reckon if we’d held on for another 5-10 mins and it’s maybe game over. I agree we’ve got to be a bit more aggressive in our defending and stopping crosses though but Everton are a decent side to be fair

Going forwards, apart from some wrong decisions thought we looked a handful

Still pissed off about var and all its done is make it look more and more like organised match fixing

It really isn’t - one season there was 38 errors and mostly spread out - the most blatant I’ve seen was against Liverpool and frankly if they missed that there’s little point in having it

I’m more irritated about having that Grand Old Team going round my head this morning.

We do have substitutes but the manager chooses not to use them until it’s too late.

Sorry but the idea that it was premeditated is just nonsense; they were just massively incompetent. These kind of officials do seem to lack any kind of accountability though, which needs to change.
I don't get how it's defended with incompetent. They have multiple angles in slow motion. There is zero excuse.

I said at the start of the season that I was determined to enjoy it and the only thing I can see stopping me doing that would be VAR and so its proving to be.

Its just an utter shambles and as Grendel said, with some of the stuff theyre missing, whats the point in having it?

We also contributed to our own downfall last night with poor game management but we'll learn

Does seem like a case of bigger club get the decisions but if I think with my head the hair pull would have been a pen and a red last season but not this as the rule changed, the foul by Mykolenko possibly was outside the area and I've only seen the Barry goal live and with one replay and it's not conclusive it's handball. Maybe after 25 watches and multiple angles I'll feel different.
He even admitted it. As regards the 1st it is the actual foul irrespective of the hair. The 2nd the handball irrespective of the foul

Weren't they more interested in checking the elbow?
Yet if it was for a big club they would be checking everything from the last 10 minutes and what the players had for dinner.

Again, they check and look at what gives the outcome they want.

Madness to think they just "didn't see" because they were looking at the elbow.

Same as the multiple hand balls in the box.

That's not quite true; we probably should have gone 2-0 up, then they scored against the run of play. That changes the mentality, and they get a quick second (but not until after we should have made it 2-1). If that had been ruled out, the game would have probably settled down again.

We were very good for the most part. On the balance of the whole game, a point was the least we deserved.

The hair pull is still a foul, it was downgraded from a red card offence to a yellow, it was done with enough force to pull Caleb's head back and stop him jumping, it doesn't matter if he'd have got to the ball he was stopped from trying, so yellow card and a penalty.

They didn't look at it. Only looked at the hand ball.

I thought they did look at it?

Surely they look at the whole incident? They can't say "we will ignore the 2 other things and just check for the one"

How can they NOT look at it?

Sorry if already written but both Barry goals down to defensive errors.

1st Mfuni lack of experience tells-completely out of position that leads to Pinoock marking 3 players & leaving Barry to Dasilva (good movement from Barry to peel off him at the far post tho).

The second (regardless of the fact it was a clear handball) it was an identical situation-Dasilva should have communicated to Pinnock that he had lost Barry (Pinnock should’ve stuck to him like a fuckin limpet given a few minutes earlier he’d scored).

Both times Dasilva was bloody useless-but given his stature we all knew this was his Achilles heel-despite him being one of players of the season so far.

Both goals easily avoidable.

Rushworths positioning for the third was bloody awful (and for a keeper of his talent unforgivable), far too big a gap on his near post-a few minutes later Pickford was in the same scenario and he had a hand on the post making sure the player couldn’t score through him.

Again another defensive error-in fact the whole game Everton only created from our mistakes (like giving the ball away cheaply in midfield).

I know that Lampard and his team will go through these incidents and we will learn from them.

Like some have already said-better to lose looking like we might get something from the game (or be cheated out of it by Var incompetence) than sleepwalking our way to defeat as we did against Fulham.

Think we’re making similar points from slightly different angles. Mine was more that there was only 5 mins between when we scored and they equalised, I don’t think we suddenly dropped off, as you say we even created, they just went more aggressive as they needed to get back into game. We see out 10-15 mins after our goal without conceding and it’s maybe a different result

Thought we were absolutely great. Looked like we belonged at the level. VAR - well, just shocking but if we keep playing like that we’ll be fine

Defensively we have to do better. We can’t keep conceding poor goals

It’s also not true we had two gilt edged chances after going ahead we didn’t sit back we defended poorly

Undoubtedly we were hard done by VAR, but the way we self destructed after scoring was hideous.

It’s very basic from a young level of football that after scoring you do the basics right and we just didn’t do that.

I was also really annoyed with Frank’s substitutions. Not sure where EMC was, but if he is fit I would rather put him on over BTA. Add to that, waiting until the 86th minute to make four changes when Torp was lagging from 65th minute was really poor.

VAR will get some spotlight but got to look inwards and what we should’ve done better.
Yep. As soon as we went 2-1 down, he should have made changes. It’s a no brainer. The only thing I can think of is that he thought the game was tight but making 4 subs with 4 minutes to go was odd and bringing BTA on was also odd even though he’s got an engine.
