Match Thread Coventry City vs Fulham (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Sat 24th October (3pm KO) (94 Viewers)

My daughters day care is having some fall festival that coincides with game time, any chance game can be postponed and as a bonus be streamed for free?

Another big game. We didn’t play badly at Spurs, but equally I don’t think we looked particularly threatening (and I accept we were away from home against a “big” team). Few basic mistakes once again cost us the game.

Back to a more positive performance today, hopefully. I doubt this will happen but I’d like to see:

Rushworth
KKH Thomas Pinnock JDS
Yirenyki Torp
Sakamoto Rudoni Gboho
Cherif

Not suggesting Grimes is solely the problem but we need more creativity in there.
Sakamoto I’m 50/50, but on balance he did a decent job last game.
No chance Gboho starts, but as admirable a job BTA has done, imagine if the person in the break away situations BTA was in, was a player who was technically good - they may have lead to more.

Unfortunately I fully expect an unchanged team, but as long as he uses his subs effectively - timing, tactically and personnel wise - then it’s an improvement on Monday.

I’m actually feeling confident we get three points today. How hard that’ll be will depend on the team he selects!

1-1 draw. By alla counts Fulham played some decent stuff and lost alot of points in final few minutes. We need a good home performance. Win would be so big for us but ya gut feeling is a draw.

These are not the same

Lampard just said he trains brilliantly. More egg on the face of his haters who lie about his attitude to football or his fitness

Just realistic. You stop in with a tin of beans & a candle.
Media like to dramatise weather events.
Look at forecast now , bit of rain between midday & 4ish.
We’ll see won’t we. If it affects the travel and more problematically the pitch, the game could be called off. 100% rain solid from 12pm-5pm will test the ground for sure.

This would be my 11 too, but agree he won’t change it

He might well put in maximum effort at training, be willing to play in the U21's etc. but he can also then go out afterwards and fill his body with crap.

Sadly for an elite level footballer then can't just treat work and life as totally separate due to the levels of fitness they need. Their attitude towards their fitness has to be part of their entire life to maintain the levels needed and that includes discipline in their diet outside of work. You can run 10-15k in a training session but if you then go out and stuff yourself with burgers you're going to struggle in a match situation against others with exceptional fitness but have the edge over you because they've had more discipline.

not sure where talksport are getting 44mph winds from?
Yeah I don’t think that should be a concern. I’m more concerned by the pitch. Worst I remember was Notts at home in the league 2 semi. Presumably part of the work they had to do in the summer involved improving the pitch for this kind of rainfall?

yeah the pitch would be more of a concern to me but hopefully it is in much better condition than it was back then.

If it weren't for the weather, I'd have gone 2-0 Cov today.

With the weather, I'm going 1-1, with big Bobby to get his first of the season.

Don't think this is a landmark performance by any stretch. It's going to be a bit scrappy.

Hoping we see Tchuoana and Gboho today just to out some of this bullshit to bed and give them a chance to give it the biggun.

strangely i think the weather may help us

Lampard never says anything but good things about Simms, but he clearly doesnt fancy him and he'll be out the door end of season latest.

He’s likely been brought in with one eye on next year in case we go down. If we stay up, I imagine he’ll be sold.

If he said Simms trains well I would believe him personally

So would I. But I would still think he doesnt fancy him as a player.
Saying Hamer trains well doesnt mean he looks after himself, he clearly doesnt and people are just ignoring the evidence of their own eyes if they're looking at the picture you replied to saying hes in shape.

Its really disappointing because he actually looked in better shape when he signed than he does now.

As I said on another thread, (and I appreciate hes had a lot of minutes on the pitch), but how can Rudoni be in such good shape when hes had no preseason to speak off yet Hamer is still miles off?

Hamer has something to offer that our other midfielders dont so hopefully he sorts himself out but I won't hold my breath.

Been through this before regarding body types

Imo what really happened was the hamer haters changed their mind when he resigned and now decided to revert back to hating on him cos he don't play

I'm sure you will disagree. Just my opinion

'Hamer haters' is just silly nonsense to try and stifle discussion.
Ive said many times Ive always respected him telling supporters he was staying after Stoke away last game 21/22 and sticking g to it. But I knew the only was he was staying another season after that was if we got promoted.
I certainly dont hate him, but it annoys me that he doesnt take his profession seriously.

As for the body type, again, the photos in the post you replied to was someone arguing that McGinn was the same, again, people ignoring the evidence of their own eyes

You didnt answer my question about Rudonis fitness levels

He’s a player at an age he should be at his peak. He is barely making a few appearances to the only top flight club who wants him. It’s not acceptable.

Maybe this is his level? At his peak yhis is his role for cov and lampard got him for this very reason?

Rudoni and hamer have different Body types. Not all players are the same.

Soon as he scores a worldie the talk of being fat will go imo

At 3pm will be heavy rain, 9c feel and 18mph wind. Will be that for the afternoon.

He can be out of shape and still score a worldie.
If he was fit he'd have been on the pitch a lot more than he has in my opinion.

It’s the fact it will be heavy rain for three hours before as well that’s a concern. Fingers crossed the pitch will hold out.

That's fine. My opinion is he would be playing like he hamer we know if got more minutes. I'm not sure his playing time is down to fitness but only lampard knows that one

Let be honest if we have any hope of staying up, Fulham at home you have to be getting 3 points

This next 5 now, Fulham, Sunderland and Palace at home, Everton and Leeds Away is season shaping. 9 needs to be the minimum from it, anything 11 and above fantastic. Anything less than 9 and you may aswell stick the big red R next to us

As for today, for me

Rushworth
Milan
Thomas
Pinnock
Dasilva
Grimes
Yirenkyi
Tchouana
Rudoni
EMC (last chance to show he can start at this level before dropping him for Gboho)
Cherif
