Match Thread Coventry City vs Aston Villa [LC] (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Wed 16th September (8pm KO) (39 Viewers)

The Motor City is simply a car crash and that NFL team King was trying to get us into bed with will be changing the locks when we pop to the shops.

His whole game had become timid. Stopped coming out with the ball, most passes backwards, marking space and not getting tight. Still good at blocking shots but it’s as though he’s so nervous about making mistakes that he’s stopped being the Bobby T of last season we all loved. Not just him, I think the huge step up has come as a big shock to many, MVE, Tats, Grimes.
Bobby had a mare wkth the first too.

They're shit as well, aren't they?

I think American football is possibly the most boring sport in the world, though, so I may be wrong.

There’s a real irony in the ‘speedy’ font on our kit as defenders amble around watching people score for fun. Worst kit since 16/17

I don't pay any attention to it, but they'd do better commercially been linked to the prison team captained by Adam Johnson than this absolute shower.

I cannot believe Bobby didn't leather it. What has happened between the Stoke game in 2025 and now? How did he have enough confidence to just put his foot through the ball then but not now?

Because we lost to Hull apparently

The sheer amount of ball watching in this side is baffling. At this level, you have to constantly scan and stay aware of your surroundings. It's a reoccurring theme in our defence that costs us. Tonight, our defender gets caught unaware of his man, leading directly to their first goal aswell as the goal from the corner. You have to wonder what's actually being addressed on the training ground.

Some slight improvement tonight and a couple of positives but being totally honest we look totally off the pace.

Every game bar Hull where they let us have the ball we’ve looked unfit compared to the opposition. Slow in possession, too many mistakes. Side ways, backwards rinse, repeat. No cutting edge too us at all.

1 simple pass from their keeper in the second half cut out our whole midfield and then there direct through on our goal.

We looked shell shocked. It’s worrying.

Shamble again really. We’re so naive tactically. Trying to ply PL football without PL players instead of finding a system that works. Lampard desperately needs help setting a defence up because we aren’t going to win the ball high up with this press or dominate possession. Need one of his famous pivots but honestly not sure he’s got it in him to make us solid enough to draw or win games at this level and we don’t have the cash for quality needed to play how he wants.

Torp Yirenkyi Mfuni and Gboho all good. Cherif clearly has potential. CBs are utter garbage and forcing Lats to play RB and us to watch it are human rights violations.

No transfer window on coaching staff. I’d be scouring the place for a defence coach and paying whatever is needed to get them in.

Unfortunately we look like one of those teams promoted that I hoped we wouldn't look like. We're just out of our depth all over the pitch, and look so slow and unreactive. We're Burnley or Southampton of recent years.

At this point there needs to be a seismic turnaround if we're going to be anything other than relegated. If we don't we are literally going to get whipped every week as we look fractured beyond belief.

We might well go down this year but can we not spend 9 months uttering tedious bilge about the half arsed championship dross that would have made all the difference had we signed them. Once we’ve stopped that can we progress to stopping the witless testicles about how we should have signed endless past it chancers that we couldn’t afford. And lastly can no one ever mention Xhaka ever again

all your posts are aging so badly

Overall a much better performance. A lot more physical presence , impetus and belief.
Its so hard to play against these very good players. We have now had three good spells in last three games.
Its just the other teams can outlast us and lets be clear have stronger squads and purpose and method.

Ref was poor, but he was poor both ways.
Got to disagree with this.
We didn’t lose because of the ref we lost because we were shit again.
But he definitely gave them more decision’s would play on for fouls on us and then 10 seconds later give them a free kick for a far softer foul.
