Match Thread Coventry City vs Aston Villa [LC] (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Wed 16th September (8pm KO) (5 Viewers)

Yeah, this is a bigger worry. Don’t get the yo-yo feel from us, but I guess you wouldn’t at this point.

At least it would be more enjoyable you would hope. There is no pleasure in being utterly out of your depth. All the starry eyed football tourism can't replace the joy of watching your team do reasonably well

I have loved having Super Franky Lampard but serious questions now need to be asked, if the £150m spent isn’t good enough is it him or Austin to blame. Can he get this squad motivated and fighting to get these going? I think we have some top championship players but they are those that might not be good enough for that next step sadly as much as we might want them to.
I think King will quickly want changes if things aren’t working, there is no sentiment in football sadly.

Tbf, they were very lucky not to concede more in the first half.

Only Thomas knows what he was thinking, and the keeper was beaten before the ball hit Yirenkyi.
See this is how things are so knife edge. Thomas should have scored. No laughing after going, ah bollocks, sorry lads aren't i a dope.

We had them on the backfoot. Our tails were up, they believed. If he scores we go 2-1 up and maybe, just maybe the whole season atmosphere changes with a win.

But he fucked up. And we conceded. And we're fucking doomed. We HAVE to take chances.

Brighton keeper Motm despite winning 5-0
Big T one on one and rudi header man city
That's the season so far right there

How many shirts do you have to sell for £6m and whatever we're paying him?

It looks a strange signing now, though.
Well I can’t see any footballing justification, especially when Imran Louza was available at the same price.

Towards the end of the Robins era people on here were complaining that going to the CBS had started to become an unenjoyable chore, then their jaws hit the floor when the bloke was sacked for some reason. The home games are where the most fans see you, it is 'the product' and you need to give the customer a reason to return. King knows this... Lampard needs to find a way to turn this around very very soon.

Whatever Lampard said at HT didnt fucking work, first half was so promising and we came out second half and looked like we had no idea what to do we stopped the press that was working and 2 shit goals from set pieces disgrace. Fucking shit.

I think a heavy loss against forest and Lampard is gone. The lack of fight, cohesiveness and basic footballing ability is alarmingly bad at the moment.

I don’t want him gone but we look nowhere near capable of even grinding out a single point this season currently.

Torp has played himself into a starting spot on Saturday imo.
I think he'd of been off after an hour if he was going to feature against Forest.
Looks like we are looking at another Grimes and EMC shit show.

Douglas, you have to own your part in this crap. Being a tightarse on wages has kneecapped recruitment and this is the consequence.
And the idiotic’Motor City’ vibe, with a kit that shows no momentum from our great season just a few months ago. I wonder what the players thought of it when they first laid eyes on it. Complete makeover.
Shame

I cannot believe Bobby didn't leather it. What has happened between the Stoke game in 2025 and now? How did he have enough confidence to just put his foot through the ball then but not now?

Luton said that 3 years ago
Leicester said that 2 years ago
Southampton got 12 points then finished in the top 6 the season after. I don’t expect Lampard to still be here this time next year

What exactly is our game plan ? Anyone know ?
Difficult to see what Lampard is setting us up to do other than hoof long diagonals out of defence straight back to the opposition.
Totally baffling

Think he just panicked. Tbf he had no right getting the ball there

Sheffield Wednesday kit for a Sheffield Wednesday standard team

How many teams get battered with less than 20 points a season in the PL then walk the championship.

You’re deluded if you don’t think we make the playoffs at least. The premier league is just much harder than you think.

Exactly!!! That's almost certainly cost us the game. 2-1 with our tails up, who knows.

But if im the opposition and I see my opponent is terrified to tap the ball into an empty net, I know I have them

I feel like we're already at the point where we need a reset. Back to basics, don't worry about scoring goals too much we'll get chances from set pieces. We need to try and form a defensive unit because at the moment we have got nothing.

100%. It feels like most teams could put 2 past us which means a hell of an upturn required on output upfront. What you have said is an urgent priority

True although if you want a team doing reasonably well we’re always going to get less of that with City. Like I said, will be a painful 9 months and maybe a little after, but it won’t last forever.
