Match Thread Coventry City vs Fulham (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Sat 24th October (3pm KO) (57 Viewers)

Let be honest if we have any hope of staying up, Fulham at home you have to be getting 3 points

This next 5 now, Fulham, Sunderland and Palace at home, Everton and Leeds Away is season shaping. 9 needs to be the minimum from it, anything 11 and above fantastic. Anything less than 9 and you may aswell stick the big red R next to us

As for today, for me

Rushworth
Milan
Thomas
Pinnock
Dasilva
Grimes
Yirenkyi
Tchouana
Rudoni
EMC (last chance to show he can start at this level before dropping him for Gboho)
Cherif
Id be looking at KKH for Milan ( he needs a break) and FTT for Caleb. Possible Torp for Grimes. Though I can't see any of these happening.

2 wins from every 5 will give us a chance come end of season I think.

Anything over 6 PTS in next 15 I will be happy.

Massive rn of games though for sure. Don't think s point is end world today though

Yes agree. We need to be tracking 1ppg so 6 points from the next 5 is a minimum.

Very good chance of a win.

Would be great to beat the teams that Ipswich and Hull have beaten. Ipswich turned these over at home.

If we can do that then it will give me confidence that their good start was down to opposition and we could get some parity.

didn't the get a man sent off in that?

'Hamer haters' is just silly nonsense to try and stifle discussion.
Ive said many times Ive always respected him telling supporters he was staying after Stoke away last game 21/22 and sticking g to it. But I knew the only was he was staying another season after that was if we got promoted.
I certainly dont hate him, but it annoys me that he doesnt take his profession seriously.

As for the body type, again, the photos in the post you replied to was someone arguing that McGinn was the same, again, people ignoring the evidence of their own eyes

You didnt answer my question about Rudonis fitness levels

It’s been the same five people making kebab jokes for years let’s be honest.

Massive game today. If we want to survive this is the type of game we need to be winning at home. That said Fulham will be saying the same about us.

Let's hope we get a few set pieces today, but really could do with a Hamer pr Torp for delivery. Nightmare conditions for defenders/keepers. Definitely a day for no aaatb, and for pressing defenders.

Pretty early on and Ipswich still needed a late goal if I remember.

Still, target should be 3 points today.

Last times we played them were 3-1 and 4-1 wins. I know it's a few seasons ago but they're not a club to fear imo.

Yep, he’s a mercenary first and foremost. Innit.

I dont think so, but the point being, people dont just randomly start having a go at players over certain issues without a reason.

Granted, they may be ill informed or have the wrong end of the stick, but theres normally some sort of thinking behind it.

Bit dramatic, "anything less than 9" ?
2 wins & a draw gives us 7 from a 5 match stretch & back on a point per match ratio for the season.

King et al didn’t want to take the risk with O’Hare? He and Sheaf were unlikely to be signed on contract renewal.

We have the same conundrum with Wright. And Simms will be in a similar situation although his fitness is not the concern. We have a fair few players out of contract this year.

Oh shit. Get a noco mate. Great bits of kit.

Not if Matty Grimes has anything to do with it

I know I’ve said it before but Grimes ends up crossing it because the winger and/or full back haven’t done their job which is to beat a man and cross it or get the overlap and cross.

It’s inexcusable how many times it gets passed back in those situations. Grimes gets the flack but ultimately he’s the one always taking the responsibility. Same in midfield, never hides, always gets in position to receive the ball in tight positions etc. He’s not been anywhere near his best this season but fans in general sometimes need to look at the bigger picture. same defensively with Grimes and Yirenkyi regularly trying to cover the area of three men v spurs

Fulham press as high as Brighton do so I would go back to the 5-2-3 to give ourselves as many passing options as possible in the buildup phase.

Praying that Grimes and JDS can keep up with the pace of King and Bobb, and we can effectively bypass the press.

Feeling optimistic. 2-1 City.

I'm looking forward to seeing King, he looks some player when I've caught Fulham on sky

You don't see that on TV do you. I was at Spurs and Grimes worked his nuts off . Covered a lot of ground and had a decent game I thought .

Well I guess it’s not being called off then!

Hopefully we’ve done some dead ball work in training this week.

Could get worse but in a taxi to town and it's drizzle but not much more at the moment

If this is ‘a game we should really be winning’ because they’ve had a really shit start, then I don’t know why people are saying a point is okay.

And some people once something is lodged in their head, however ill informed are like a dog with a bone and won’t let go. Dasilva has been a victim of this. He was poor a few seasons ago, but has shown he is a different player the last two seasons.

Wouldnt say its dramatic at all. Looking at them fixtures its our chance to get points on the board with 'easier' home and away games

Think people are forgetting our hideous home run in at the tail end of the season, Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United etc.

Nows the time to build up as many points as we can

Definitely one we should be looking to win. But Fulham probably feel the same. The important thing is we don’t lose like we did v Hull. We need a point minimum. Survival is about keeping the points ticking over. Learning not to lose would be a big step.

Again it's people ignoring the evidence of their own eyes, in both cases

Anyone else starting KKH today?
I also feel Torp will start for some reason
KKH deserves a run. I would start Onyeka and Yirenkyi with Torp on the bench. If Torp does start he needs to show he can be influential when starting games. Too often games pass him by. Looks a different player when coming off the bench and the game is a bit more stretched. His set piece is great, but he can’t rely on that to start. Needs to show it consistently between both boxes over 90 minutes.
