It was me that told everyone about the form in France. They changed it yesterday. My wife has to fill one out each time she leaves the house.

I don’t think that’s what he said- coronavirus is not the governments fault, but the comedy of errors since it came to U.K. have to be put at their door.

They’ve said shops shouldn’t open but there are plenty of jobs that aren’t important and are still open. I’ve got mates going to offices because their bosses have told them it’s “business as normal”. As far as I’m aware they haven’t said key workers only, anywhere can open if they’re not public spaces?

People telling me it’s key workers only since last week. At no point have they said anything like that but shows how the message gets confused.

The form in France says where you are going. Road blocks all over and police driving around. A big fine if you are off route. Could see something similar here.

They need to clarify this fast as once glance at social media shows there's a lot of confusion.
travel to and from work when “absolutely necessary”
Is that only if you're a key worker? Or is that someone like a builder who can't work from home?
Shopping is only permitted for essentials like food and medicine, and people are advised to do it “as little as you can”

Can't see anything in that which will prevent the same scenes in the supermarkets tomorrow we've seen the last few days?

Considering I knew before the news hit the UK. Just like when everywhere was ordered to shut.

And I guess it was a total guess from me on Friday saying it would most probably happen today after advice ignored over the weekend.

But yes you want to be a dick. Carry on.

It's completely subjective. To be honest though you'd have to employ a lot of people to enforce anything more, all those departmental cuts matter.

The issue for a lot of builders is they don't get paid if they don't turn up. As it's that or ssp they are still going to work as 90 odd quid a week isn't enough.

You can wipe down the packaging with a wipe I guess.

But is it any different from shopping in a supermarket. No idea who's handled the packaging before you so wipe it all down when you get it home before putting it away.

You could argue it would reduce some of the burden on people all trying to go to the shop.

Informed by who? I come under one of the key worker categories they announced last week and haven't been told a thing.

Are you sure its only keywokers? The likes of the Guardian are reporting it as anyone unable to work from home.

One of my directors said me today it was still business as usual and he wanted me to go to a client site in Swansea on Thursday, a bit pushy actually.

A different one told me we could well be told not to work at all by next week and on the 80%.

Completely sums it up for me. Everything at the moment is such opposites and opinions. So confusing.

Agree, some idiots will still go out. I’m not going into detail with the whole reactions/measures again as it’s been done to death (the government have said for weeks they would bring in certain measures at the right time based on scientific advice (not just medical but behaviour/mental health etc) and at the point where medically they believe they will get most benefit - some accept this, some dont. Also when people say behind the curve, the first reported cases of coronavirus were:

UK - 31 Jan
Italy - 31 Jan
France - 24 Jan
Germany - 27 Jan

I agreed with, I think Fernando or Clint, that we haven’t used our advantages of us being an island as well as we could and potentially wasted some of the time we bought for ourselves early doors (with our better reactions/initial strategy than other countries) but ultimately you can see the spread across all of Europe.

There are short and longer term strategies having to be considered and as I’ve said the rights and wrongs won’t be known until this is all done and dusted (which isn’t going to be any time soon unfortunately)

In the meantime everyone has just got to do their bit, stay safe, look after yourselves and your families (from afar if necessary) and follow the measures put in place

preach over

Agreed - unfortunately though one avoidable death is one too many. I suppose however we'll never know what might have been pursuing other strategies to really critique the approach. Like you say and it was me that said, we have a key difference from the rest of Europe which does not appear to have been used to our advantage. We've also failed to isolate London when it has been very clear for a long time that it is the epicentre (as it would be with one of the busiest airports in the world).

They won't close where i work unless they are told to, despite the lads on the production line having to work in close proximity, we are not making essential equipment.

There is nothing to order non essential offices to shut.

With regards to.you being right I'll let you know when that happens.

I was informed by work.

Key workers are grocery store workers, NHS, emergency workers, lorry drivers and warehouse workers. Those manufacturing what we need plus a few more. Everything else will end up shut. This leaves non key workers without work to do.

Like SB says it wasn't all brought out at the same time in Italy. Or France. Or elsewhere.
