Mercedes had 2 opportunites to pit Lewis.

They didn't. I they had none of his would have happened as Lewis would have been on the same tyre as Max with track position and a faster car
Horner has said several times if Hamilton had pitted then Max would have stayed out. Then we'd be sat in a situation with Red Bull claiming it was a fix etc (if Masi had done the same thing).

FIA going to do a full investigation into Abu Dhabi events - anyone expecting anything but a whitewash?

Mercedes to drop the appeal is the rumour
Don't see the point in an appeal as anything that takes title from Max would be legally challenged by Red Bull and the litigation would be ongoing.
Any appeal to FIA isn't going to succeed as they don't want the scandal of having to overturn a Championship.
Do wonder how much pressure there was from Liberty to make the Championship go to the final lap.
Mercedes have to admit to themselves they blew it by not focusing enough on the 2021 car at the beginning of the season. Eyes were on 2022 and thinking they had enough in hand from the 2020 car

Think it goes without saying this new FIA review has come about because of some serious discussions involving Mercedes and the FIA. I hope at least enough attention has been drawn so that this type of situation is avoided in future. Mercedes probably feel they've accomplished their goals in that respect. Remember, it was never necessarily about getting the result overturned. The onus now is on the FIA to make sure this is done properly.

Toto has given his first interview since.

Says he cannot give assurance that Lewis will race next year as he's 'disillusioned'

I thought that when Lewis was interviewed after the race . He was asked about next season and mercedes and seemed reluctant to say anything definite.

Mercedes upsetting people with their new design. Brawn was saying last couple of years needed the new regulations and cap to make teams think outside the box. If all the cars look the same then maybe teams aren't trying hard enough or the movement of personnel between teams is making them copy rather than innovate.
Hopefully Ferrari's new pace makes them a genuine contender because their drivers are good enough to go toe-to-toe with Red Bull & Mercedes
