I see JHB further down that twitter thread having a go at Johnson for doing something he knows is wrong and will damage the country, accusing of having no backbone.

Wonder where's she's been for the past five years.

What possible rationale is there for the Government to want this to carry on longer than necessary? If anything, their previous actions suggest the opposite.

I think it is an accountability thing. Shit scared of getting any further blame.

Seems there is a slight agenda to prolong lockdown, but I doubt they'll be any apologies on this thread

Think it’s fair enough, personally. There are going to be those who are going to find it harder to re-adjust. After going through a once in a lifetime pandemic, who are we to judge.

I actually wore a green and red wristband at a traffic light party a few years ago. Pulled as well.

Did the same yesterday as well! Bit nerve wracking cancelling the second dose before booking the new one, but getting it a month earlier now - everyone still waiting on their second dose should give it a go.

See, things like this get missed amongst the stupid political arguing. Just cancelled my second jab and re-booked 22 days sooner

I see the wee wonky crankie is going for, yes!, a three-week delay.

So what do you think is the end game? Do you genuinely think this is all about control and delight in forcing peoples’ lives to be difficult?

You’re also doing the old trick of making up the enemy - can’t really see any evidence that there is an agenda to prolong lockdown. Being honest, I get why they may have needed to extend for 2 weeks, but not really fully understanding why they’ve postponed for 4 weeks. Of course, it’ll give us more data to work with but the expectation was that this next week will be the most meaningful in terms of data collection.

Makes more sense than the traffic light system the government brought in for travel.

The 4 weeks thing is a bit strange as most of the experts seemed to be talking about 2 weeks. Maybe they've finally cottoned onto the fact that saying 4 weeks and then opening up after 2 is better than saying 2 weeks and then extending another 2 weeks.

Or maybe they just know that schools are hotbeds of transmission so if they delay until schools are off that will offset other things opening up.

hate this whole “reduce all human interaction to a computer program” stuff. Lanyards for this, wristbands for that, pin badges for the other. Why can’t we just talk to each other?

God I’m getting old.

(Should add: obviously fair enough if you have an actual condition that affects your ability to interact with humans)

In the unvaccinated and generally young. The reports are those being hospitalised are so for only 2 or 3 nights. The virus, whilst being more contagious, is weaker.

Who would have thought that, a virus doing what viruses do
