Match Thread Coventry City vs Fulham (H) - Coventry Building Society Arena - Sat 24th October (3pm KO) (3 Viewers)

Today’s result puts way too much on the Sunderland game , a point today would’ve been ok

Lampards lost the plot? Why can’t he see what we can?? Too many Championship players starting and his tactics. I’m cold, fucking soaked and totally pissed off, but Grimes is too slow and was fucked at 66.

Tactics are gutless, and the recruitment has be abysmal.

You can accept that it takes players time to adapt, but when your spaffing tens of millions trying to turn a top Championship team into a Premier League one, then the players that you've spaffed it on have to be at least challenging to be in the team. We have three new players who are regular starters. Three. And two of them are raw youngsters. We've not given ourselves a chance with that.

Some ok spells of possession but did absolutely fuck all with it - no intent or urgency or moving the ball quick enough.

Having £30m of wingers that can't get on the pitch is fucking nuts

Not sure how Hamer is getting minutes ahead of Torp.

Absolutely pathetic. No idea what the game plan was from minute one. Stand off them all game and try and survive. Got exactly what we deserved.

100% how fans cant see that lampards loyalty and wank tactics are costing us is mental

Hes killing us atm
I think the big win against Newcastle has glossed over the shit.

I said in this thread bta's hot form spell is over but he continues to play him.

And how you leave a defensive CM on in grimes with 10 to play when chasing a game I'll never ever know.

Would Torp done ANY worse that Grimes there?

Onyeka is light years ahead of grimes
Mfuni ahead of other defenders
We are stifling ourselves
Onyeka is a spoiler he's not a ball player. Torp is most obvious replacement for Grimes. Recruitment needed to get a quality playmaker in and didn't.
The setup and tactics were horribly wrong today but you have to worry about the quality we've bought in. Are Gboho and Tchaouna gonna make that much difference?
Mfuni has to play though....

Poor performance and some baffling subs from Lampard again, why the fuck did he bring EMC on ahead of Gboho?

Sakamoto is tricky but is piss weak. BTA works hard but lacks quality, EMC looks well off it, Grimes is killing us, does nothing, MvE looks like a rabbit in headlights, bringing Hamer on is hilarious, he plays like its a testimonial... honestly I could continue but I can't be bothered. Shite shite shite.
Emc did alright tbh. Well when he touched the ball that is which wasn't slot. Some good turns at least.

I think it's time he started games again before judgement on his prem quality .

I think Frank is just being cautious cos the premier is scary so he's playing hard workers. At some point he will let the shackles off I hope

Get the legs in midfield and the flair in the forward areas

Onyeka and yirenkyi to start , with neither dropping in as a 3rd CB please

Playing Mfuni as midfield sounds
Ridiculous at first. Then you think, hang on, is he better than Grimes and tackling back, is he better on defensive duty, will he be able to slot into back 4 /5 if defenders up….

Maybe his career won’t be a defender. He’s 19. Who knows.

Mfuni has played in a more advanced role / stepping into midfield before and he’s more than comfortable on the ball…

Some games are must win. Hull at home. Fulham.

Not even a point or a real effort.

Cherif is living off a deflected goal and Grimes and EMC (running but no quality in final ball) living off Chanp season.

Hamer for Grimes please. At least he passes forward. Gnobo on wing to run on to through balls. Caleb Y and Frank O in front of back 4 as BBM. Rudoni roaming. Tats and Gnobby wings. Big striker. Don’t care if it’s sims or not.

EMC isn’t good enough and Lampard is scared

Every player who isn't Pinnock, Thomas or Sakamoto can get in the skip. I haven't been this angry after a defeat in such a long time. Not the defeat itself so much as the manners, didn't once look like a team with any cogent plan or any desire to win

I'm not sure. Those turns were good after all Vs premier league defenders. He needs a few starts before we can judge

Lampard cautious or scared same result unfortunately. We have to give him time though. It's so early into season. I'm sure he will change it up

Whys everyone banging on about Hamer starting ffs. He touched in once in the 12 mins he was on and gave it away.

I really didn't rate torp at start of season but how pretty much bossed it in that villa cup game and hasn't been seen since.

If I woke up from a coma I'd be saying the way we played was the last 3 months of Mark Robins tenure.

Summed it up a free kick in their half and we passed it back to our goalie

Chelsea score for fun but conced a lot, not sure we'd do the first bit
I know , I’m just struggling to see a way forward at the moment . None of our wingers are offering anything , granted we haven’t seen a lot of Tchaouna or anything of Gboho

If Lampard tries the same thing next week we need the men in white coats to take him away.

Key home win next week, let’s try and actually be positive. Thomas almost certainly out which locks us into a back 4.

Gboho should have a go and drop Grimes. Neither will happen. Hopefully Tuna can make the squad.

Yep tactics were strange allowing them the ball without pressing was strange

He’s had his starts and he was fucking shit

You are deluded no disrespect

Fulham are a poor side. We were even worse. FL just did not pick the right team today and we all can see it. Grimes has been so good for us but he is far too slow, and has no creation at this level. Watching his play today was awful as balls were just going past him at will. His game style is not one for this level. From the off the signs were clear without Torp a creative presence in midfield we were going to be out of possession a lot and way too much to ask of Rudoni. Mfuni looks a really comfortable player at this level and looks like his chance has now arrived with Thomas sidelined. Sakamoto was excellent today. I do think Milan might need to learn how to play at this level. Might be time for Kesley-Haden? We need Wright back asap. Caleb has to be more consistent, he was poor today. Rushworth is fine, finding his feet but his distribution was off again. We sat too deep at times and they played through the lines too often, an area for Grimes to cut out.
The obvious changes are clear so next week we must be stronger and Grimes must step down.

Hamer needs to be the playmaker. He would pass forward more than Grimes.

First name on the sheet for Frank
We knew we’d struggle but it’s the lack of attitude that pisses you off
