Match Thread Everton vs Coventry City (A) - Hill Dickinson Stadium - Fri 6th November (8pm KO) (13 Viewers)

In laws are all Everton fans , great family
Good mate of mine supports them

He thinks Frank is in for a warm enough reception on Friday - Thought he was a limited manager for sure but much more likeable than some 'better' managers they have had (Benitez, Koeman etc.) - Although he did say Everton were near enough an unmanageable club at that period in their history

Apparently getting to and from this stadium is an absolute nightmare anyway and Merseyrail are doing engineering works to boot

Yeah I'm planning on walking there and back from the centre, trains look a pisser even before roadworks and whilst there's plenty of buses they are apparently rammed at the best of times and will be even worse

Provided it isn't lashing it down I have no qualms walking from my hotel in the Albert Dock to the ground, with a few pub stops en-route🤞

And in fairness, Goodison was and Anfield is no better to get to and from in my experience

I went to watch The Stones at Anfield a few years ago and it took us way over an hour to get a taxi or an uber back to the Centre

Would absolutely take a point. Everton are a defensively strong team.

Keep Barry in check like we did with Brobbey and we have a chance to cause an upset.

Barry is a funny one, he needs 5 chances to score 1 it seems and at times he looks like a donkey, but there is something about him I really quite like

Should have walked

He`s one of those strikers, who misses the easy ones, then somehow manages to score a worldee.

He`s a proper head scratcher.

He has every attribute you’d want in a centre forward. Except any form of consistency.

He’s just as likely to dominate your CB’s and miss 3 sitters as he is to be quiet as a mouse and score an unbelievable first-time finish to win the game.

Only change I could see is Thomas coming back in, either for Mfuni or in a back 5.

Bobby Thomas won't be risked we have a habit of our little injuries turning into 2 months out.

But When fit, Thomas Pinnock Mfuni would be a great back three when needed especially away from home.

Can only imagine that grimes stays on the bench until torp has a bad game

Sounds exactly like our Injured Striker 😅.

I'd go same team as Saturday. Be happy with a point.

I think Grimes may come back in.
He cant/shouldnt, Grimes even more of issue away from home, where we have even less of the ball. I can see arguements for him at home more. Sadly MG is now just a passenger in most games and we just cant afford that currently.

Away from home its a box with Onyeka/Yirenki and Rudy / torp in front in some sort or way OR as we were saturday.

I know never change a winning team - but I would! Three at the back if Thomas fit enough to come in. Drop (Sakamoto - he’s been brilliant of course but away from home sometimes disappears). Rudoni sort of narrow RW/10. 5-2-3 ish.
Dropping Saka is like cutting off one of MVE’s legs

Of course you can leave Pinnock, Thomas or Mfuni out of the team? We're not going to build our whole game plan around 'we have 3 centre backs playing well so let's just bodge them in even if it makes no sense.'
This is the chance to play Thomas up front
He’d make a great old fashioned centre forward

Much prefer Everton fans to Liverpool. Proper football people and nicer
Worked at Goodison for best part of a year in the Alex Young suite.
All the staff at the ground were great and couldn’t do enough for us.
When the stadium manager found out I was a city fan,he arranged a full guided tour of the stadium for me.
Proper old fashioned stadium full of oak panelling, even got to sit in Bills chair in his office. 😂

Yeah I don’t disagree. My formation suggestion is to either drop Saka or Rudoni. Seems mad to suggest it but reckon we need 5ATB away from home. (Frank may well just go 4231 again)

I would also favour a move to a back 5 if Thomas is 100% fit, but that would mean Sakamoto or Gboho, or both miss out, unless he plays. Could we play Sakamoto and Rudoni behind a CF, with two CDMs.

I agree we're unlikely to risk Bobby here. If it's three CBs it will be Lati coming in. Sakamoto would be most likely to make way as Gboho better suited to playing narrower behind the 9

Bobby will be desperate to play - isn’t he an Evertonian?

Yeah, no doubt he will. But if there is any doubt at all about his fitness they shouldn't let him. He's too important for us. Would expect to see him back after the international break, but who knows 🤷‍♂️
