Was that the shock we needed?

You guys spent just as much as we did the previous season. It’s how you spend your money, or rather where. You guys have signed a lot of reject players from lower league prem sides and players from championship sides. Always a recipe for disaster that.
we have spent a lot less than you and significantly less on wages

I don't think that's true.

I think Sunderland threw a lot of money at big wages, which can be a gamble. Obviously it looks like coming off for them, but still a risk.

Im looking at your signings, you spent very similar to us overall. None of us have any idea about wages. Some of the money you have spent or certain players is absolutely mental mind. Over 20 mil on that keeper 😮

Nope you spent near £200m we spent little over £100m.

I think it's very clear that we have no-one on anything like the wage that Xhaka will be on.

The thing with Rushworth was, was the premium worth it for a player that did not need integration? Most would have said it was, though it doesn't look it right now.

They pay Xhaka what we pay 3 of our players. its imcomparable

Potentially but none of us get to see wages.

Worth every penny if thats true. For what its worth, I still think you have a better squad than Hull, no idea how they are upsetting the big boys with that team on paper, but fair play to them.
Yes and our wage cap is supposedly £50k hence why comparing your window when youre owned by a billionaire to ours is just silly

It’s just massive frustration, for what it’s worth I think we’ve had decent spells in every game bar the Arsenal game.

We’ve got to start being clinical - the other 3 games have seen us miss big chances and conced straight away

Tbh, I don't think the issue's with who we've recruited; it's been a combination of a genuinely awful fixtures for a promoted club to have to face a the start, tactical naivety and poor selection choices, and now a dearth of confidence as a result of that.

Apologies mate, if that £50k cap is legit then fair play you are right. Are you not owned by a billionaire? Not taking the p**s I just take it for granted every club is nowadays.

No. By someone who's very rich by normal standards, but not amongst the super rich.

They are doing it by being aggressive and challenging for everything. They are solid in defence they get 11 behind the ball and play quick on the break. They aren’t showing teams any respect of fear. It feels like we are terrified at times and aren’t winning the 50/50s and standing off teams. Thought late in the game we lacked that aggressive tenacity to put a foot in although the game was gone by then anyway.

Even based on the money we have I think the issue is we have a championship recruitment team. We put together a great second tier side, but none of the current personnel have experience in the top level.

That being said, we seem to have bought a lot of players with potential rather than seasoned. Lampard for whatever reason is very cautious on playing any of our new signings - think barring Onyeka and Rushworth who were here last season we only started 3 actual new players today

All good teams need to get stuck in. Arsenal tried their tricks with us last night, yes we eventually lost the game but we gave as good as we got and didn’t take any of their s**t.

You aren’t going to win games playing pretty football, especially against very good technical teams like Brighton. You need to win playing ugly and dirty.

I agree and it’s what Ipswich and Hull are doing well and what you guys did well last season along with quick transition. It’s playing without fear.

If you want to indulge in abject fiction then carry on. I don’t think you’ll be sitting so comfortably on your “how to do everything” perch by the end of the season. I do think we’ll be playing each other next season
