Truly humiliated.
Obsession with players from last season has cost us. Spend all that money and they sit on the bench and watch Emc.

Emc, Grimes, Rudoni shouldn't be anywhere near a premier League 11.

Pressure is on lampard to fix it and fast.

We have no striker for 3 games, hopefully he doesn't put bta there.

From a lifelong Coventry fan I have to say Grimes and mason Clark are out of their depth. Those 2 should not be starting games.
I just don't what to say or how this can fixed I am speechless.

A start would be Frank’s ass not falling out and playing a back 9 at home, and still getting humiliated.

Zero across the board, pathetic display, they don't even fight for the shirt.

First half was fine compared to the second. We could have gone in winning.

Second half was just demoralising basically from the first whistle.

Tale of two halves. Seem to remember a resurgence after Pompey away that first season with lamps. Let’s hope we learn yet again, put this behind us and start climbing. I’d rather this slump now after 4 than through Christmas. Lots of learning but no time to dwell onto villa.

Depends. If we had this slump through Christmas with points on the board its easier to recover from. Start slow and its hard to keep pace.

Not as bad as some making out. We’re short of quality which is just a hard fact. No point sticking with five at the back. Grimes must come out. In terms of the game itself I thought Onyeka was our best player

Shame Grimes didn't play today. Might have made a bit of a difference

Tactics totally wrong, makes me question whether Edwards, as the Adi replacement as it were, is up to scratch.

Lampard spent a lot of the summer in the States, Edwards should have been planning and sorting. We had more time than Hull and Ipswich to scout players and decide a system.

Eg.

Long goal kicks to the left have a chance, say 1 in 4 of resulting in a throw in in the opposition half.

A throw in on the right means MVE having a long throw opportunity.

On the left - if MVE comes over then there’s a risk of holes on a break, else we’ve no long throw man on the left.

Why go left and stack our attack in anticipation on that side?

Grimes and our defence are not playing through the lines and the movement off the ball is woeful.

Lampard’s role is part tactics and the overall strategy, yes although he isn’t the main man taking training. His time is split with media etc. At the very least he needs to have better coaching tactical support.

Why the system is as it is is baffling.

Ratings

Rushworth 4.
He conceded 5. Distribution poor.

Back 3 all 4
Mistakes and not in sync for offside trap.

MVE 6

Not great but not the worst

JDS 8

Two or three great crosses and skill. Bright spot of the season to date.

Grimes 4

Sideways and backwards and poor distribution at half speed. Sorry. Not a prem player.

Rudoni 5

Meant to be wide right? Kept pulling in and bunching with onyeka and stopped the side having width

EMC 5

Not quite the level

Onyeka 6

Great shot and I can see the idea of having him in a high press. Needs someone to lay off to.

Taiwo 3

Stupid

Subs

Pointless.

The sooner we find a way to get hamer in the team, the only one with a bit of magic about him, the sooner we may even score a goal.

A really really bad day at the office
Hamer would need forwards making intelligent runs. Have we got any of those?

Yeah, that’s crazy. Neither had any impact at all. If you’re going to play 5 at the back they have to be making a difference. An extra body in midfield is just essential.

Squads not looking up to much so far is it Cally. Told you.

I must have been at a completely different game. Absolute shambles of a performance.

Rushworth, Amenda, MVE, Grimes, EMC appalling. The latter 3 not good enough for the PL. Pinnock, JDS, Rudoni only fractionally better. The only ones to come out with an ounce of professional dignity were FTT and Thomas but no better than 5's.

Didnt run around enough, pass the ball well enough or win enough (any) 2nd or 3rd balls. Brighton are a very good team but christ, we made it easy for them.

FIrst 25 were an embarrassment, last 15 or so of the first half were better. Totally baffling that Lampard didnt make changes to personnel and system at half time: beyond me. Same after the sending off.

This is going to be a long cold winter unless Lampard can figure his best XI quickly. I also hope DK has left some coins in the kitty for January, and he may again need to show he has the cahones if he is serious about staying in this league.

Did you? I remember you wetting yourself when we signed Yirenkyi and Cherif. Some of us knew it would be a long haul and talked about it while you spent endless hours being a shit but relentless WUM.

Not going to lie. I agree with Sparks on this one weirdly. You banged the drum that last seasons team was good enough for the prem all summer. Probably the worst take on the forum.

Nothing weird about it mate

Rushworth - 5: No real saves to make, dicked around with when we were 3 down. Potentially off his line for their 4th (but I was at the other end

Da Silva - 5: ok, but should have gifted them the opener after 10 mins

Thomas - 4: Strong in the air, but should have taken the man down on the half way line and then gave a clumsy penalty away

Amenda - 4: struggled with their small and technical midfielders and at fault for their 2nd

Pinnock - 5: ok, although Oggy says otherwise

MvE 7: MoM for me today. Much much better

Grimes: 5 Not bad, but not good enough to have any control over the midfield at this level

Onyeka: 6. Decent game for Frank, good effort at range in the first half

EMC: 4. Love the guy, but he had a poor game today. Should only be a starter when we are playing him as a ringer

Rudi: 4. has to leather that volley into the net. Should have 3 goals by now this season. Not giving enough as our major flare player

Awonyi: 3. Had been decent, but realistically cost us any chance of getting anything with his rash challenge

Rushworth 4, worryingly head down
JDS 5 not a wing back
MVE 6 did some stuff well but poor defender
Pinnock 5
Thomas 6 battled
Amenda 5 clumsy
Grimes 4 has to be dropped
Onyeka 6 tried
Rudoni 6 needs to score
EMC 4 abysmal
Awoniyi 4

I have to agree ,they both looked too slow and out of their depth.
