Was that the shock we needed?

Im looking at your signings, you spent very similar to us overall. None of us have any idea about wages. Some of the money you have spent or certain players is absolutely mental mind. Over 20 mil on that keeper 😮
I think the obsession with Rushworth was bizarre.

If

How many minutes against Arsenal? They were ALL a bag of shite. Plymouth? Seriously? A nothing game. Were you at this bag if shite today?

Hamer played at man city and clocked the highest sprint speed of the game iirc, he's fit but for some reason Lampard cant seem to decide how or who he wants to play.

At this point the players look absolutely shell shocked, they look overwhelmed by what we have strolled into. And i think its all abit too much for them and for the fans at the minute. Yesterday was a really a disjointed team performance, doesn't seem to be any pattern of play. Without the ball we look timid, passive, with no triggers to pressure as a unit. With the ball a bit better but without a goal it shows we are lacking something in the final third of the field.

FL needs to earn his money now, this group needs help and clear direction and instruction to give them any chance of turning this round.

Not sure that means anything.

Of course it does, if he's clocking higher speeds than the likes of Haaland and Semenyo then he's clearly fit and not the lump of lard that some are suggesting he is.

At least it looks like you’re watching Sheffield Wednesday get pumped. Completely lost our identity on and off the pitch in just 4 games. Shocking kit and weekly horror shows look set to continue unless Frank gets a grip of this shite

Let's be honest Grimes and onyeka in midfield isn't scaring any other PL team
Was very surprised we went 3 centre backs & 2 in midfield. Friendly v Monaco was the way I thought we were going.
2 centre backs with Grimes , Yirenkyi , Onyeka in midfield with Onyeka particularly out front of the three playing a pressing role.

Thats what we’ve got to revert to. Three in midfield, one of which isnt Grimes. Id rather have the energy of Eccles in there.

No, you said we'd get four significant signings.

We didn't, we got:

Rushworth, Yirenkyi, Amenda, Tchaouna, Ghobo, Hamer, Pinnock, Awoniyi, Cherif.

Whether they are the good signings or not is a different matter, but they were all brought in to play a significant role in the squad, and for significant money.

Your statement that you reference above was demonstrated to be the nonsense that it initially appeared.
Nah Lampards not the type to bring these lot in for extra training on Sunday or in this case Monday day after match. Probably gave them an extra 2 days off so he can spend more time in London.

We still don't know how to set up.

I think its quite obvious to set up 5 at the back against the better teams or qll teams away from home.

At home we should always set up we did pre season and best utilise our players and squad strength. Set up same as Hull but don't be so fucking naive to borderline risk a point by going all out.

I don't think Lampard is one to do anything other than give 100% to Coventry City.

Harsh day for the team. But could it be a benefit in the long run. It wasn’t against an elite side, it was at home. And it highlighted fairly brutally that a couple of the stalwarts of last season really have to be dropped. Grimes and EMC primarily. But we also have to get another body in midfield and switch to 4 at the back. We can’t have three of our significant summer additions on the bench. I think this game means Lampard has to make those changes.
I agree with this. I’m not sure it makes much difference whether we play three, four or five at the back. MVE gets caught out of position far too often, and yesterday all three centre-backs yesterday looked short of pace and poor on distribution. Frank probably needs to decide which one he trusts most and put some pace alongside him, maybe Mfuni in a 4. I really like Grimes, but games are passing him by. He’s not a destructive midfielder; he tries to block passing lanes and keep things ticking over, but he isn’t offering enough. Rudoni looks a bit all over the place too. I know he hasn’t been playing in his natural No. 10 role, but I’m not sure we afford that luxury anyway. His decision-making seems slow, nothing looks crisp, and he often takes too many touches. Onyeka looks lost at times. The gaps through the middle are often huge, especially in transition. Then there’s EMC. Is he good enough for this level. It also drives me mad how often he ends up on the floor looking for a foul instead of staying in the game. Frank was annoyed after the Hull game, and I wondered if it was because the players hadn’t followed his instructions. Now I wonder if is thinking some of this squad just can’t play the way he wants at this level including players he clearly rates, such as MVE, Grimes, Onyeka, Rudoni and EMC.

The only reasoning I can think of for these starting line ups, subs etc and leaving all that money on the bench is the sentiment to give the championship players a shot in the prem?

Then tear that up after the international break if it didn't work.

There has to be some kind of approach planned.

I can't get my head round playing championship players in the prem.

Leaving millions on the bench and hoofing it over the heads of our midfield I'll always struggle to get my head around.

Said it 3 games now if he sticks with grimesy he'll be out of a job too.

It was the reality check that the mid-table sides quality is far ahead of ours, every point is going to be scrapped for and earned.

Was a lot of over confidence that we would get three points today based on very little.
We found this when we came up. In our first 5 games or so we lost 2-0 at Newcastle (could've been 10-0), 6-0 at City and 4-0 at Leicester who ended up going down.

We expected to get battered at some grounds but it was a shock when Leicester beat us so easily, or when other middling clubs passed it around us for fun and basicall looked like a lower league team in the cup. Then you look at the money that group of 10 teams or so have spent on their squads and you begin to see how difficult the jump is.

The Leicester game was a big wake up call and we had a game after away at Brighton around October time that Steve Cooper changed the system for and focused purely on being solid and trying to nick a goal. It wasn't pretty but we somehow came away with a 0-0 and won a few games after 1-0.

Most of the players we’ve bought are either very young (Mfuni, Yirenkyi, Cherif) or unfit (Hamer, Cherif).

I’m not surprised he isn’t starting them all every week.

Needs bobby up front.

Has anybody took a throw or corner or fk instantly with the change of rules recently?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that in our last two home games we have conceded goals where the entire defence is chasing behind a lone speedy player with the ball.
This is just comical defending for a team that needs to be tight at the back because they can't score.
Unless this is addressed it could get brutal.

It’s been said somewhere and I agree. Wednesday could be a good chance to put in a performance and a win that acts as a catalyst. I’ve been downbeat following the first 4 games but we haven’t had any rub of the green either. I do think we’re better than we’ve shown although there is a lot to sort. Anyway a solid performance and a win against Villa might be the tonic we need. Hopefully it’s not another bad day.

The next couple of league games, we just need to somehow get points on the board.

We don’t have a lot of pace in the squad. Or craft. Weve obviously gone in heavy on physicality. Brightons side was full of footballers. We needed to be in their face imposing our game when instead the 5 at the back gave them yawning spaces to play in. I bet they couldn’t believe their luck

I don’t mind going down (that’s expected for most promoted sides)

But Beating that record would be something we’ll never live down as a club. The fact it’s still mentioned nearly 20 years on says everything. Forever a laughing stock.
We can just tag it onto the end of the Sutton thing.

I'm not panicking yet. We have played 3 of last season's top 6 in our first 4 games. It's a tough start for any any team never mind a promoted one. We have created chances but just not finished one through either great keeping, some bad luck and poor finishing. The only real shock was the Hill game which we dominated. No need for the plastic sheets yet.

Hull have played 2 of last seasons top 6 and won 4 points. It’s a moot point because we’ve largely been playing like total pussies.

Why are we obsessed with Hull. Plenty of other teams are struggling but we seem weirdly lasered in on them and Ipswich. We can finish below both and still stay up

Im not enjoying the PL experience but that's not all about the performances. But I think its far too early to judge. If we rack up 10 points after 10 games we will probably consider it a very solid start and there is still the opportunity to do that. I'm going to trust Frank to get the performances right. Stay calm folks....

What I do find rather concerning is that Lampard has won only 3 of his last 30 games as a manager in the PL. Make of that what you will
