Yearly Bedwetting thread

They are opportunities for us to show we aren’t the team to play but yep
Agree these are free hits. Would be at any point in the season regardless of our squad.

For me playing them first up is brilliant. Gets two of the hardest games with nil points expectations out of the way while we are still in buying/building mode.

Chance to bed in the players while enjoying being back in the big time. Anything we get out of them is a bonus.

Nah we're not there yet and whether you think Ipswich are chucking shit and the wall or not, which I do a bit, they are still pushing themselves ahead of us with their spending. We need to be smart with these last few. If we could use loans for the likes of Mudryk and Abraham we'd be laughing.
I don't pretend to know at this point who out of us or Ipswich will show better across the season, but is saying they're pushing themselves ahead of us with their spending not the same as similar comments in previous pre-seasons about the likes of Stoke and Birmingham?

The fact is we don't know how successful many of these signings will be.

I'm not worrying about Ipswich at this point, just about us.

I'm not envious of their signings at all but their squad is without doubt stronger. I think we'll do more and it'll probably be smarter business than theirs but at the moment its pretty undeniable.

FYI I never bought into the Blues or Stoke hype either.

Theres a middle ground between a luton and an Ipswich.

I would hope from our current business we are around 60-70% of the way through it all. With the remainder being ready made quality for now.

I think we all kid ourselves.

Football is littered with failed transfers, players that didn’t settle, players that couldnot maintain their form, players who didn’t reach their potential … the idea that 2 weeks before the end of the window you can see who has done the best business to the point it’s undeniable is a bit flawed.

We will only know more in truth by mid October when everyone’s squads have settled and we can see who appears best equipped to stay up.

I hate that we have Hull at home as our first game back in the Prem. It’s a shit opener and very high pressure as we really can’t afford to lose.

Wish it had been Newcastle or Brentford or someone like that.
We have what should be our two hardest games of the season with what should be our easiest game of the season. The best time for two of the games and worst time for the other.

Swings and roundabouts. Beat Hull like we should and we'll be in a decent position. We will be more ready for the game than them.

Says the man who thought we would sign only 4 players and have about £6 to spend i wouldnt be giving it loads if I was you
Conveniently reinventing reality. My sense is that you’d quite like us to be well beaten at Arsenal so that you can have a really good moan that we haven’t spent another £500m or so.

Didnt deny it because you cant.

Not at all, Im saying the squad as is now could be in line for a tonking. That will destroy any initial confidence brought into the season. We need a left back, a striker and a centre half minimum. To be going into the first game of the season, short of them with only 16 days of the window left isnt great is it.

Yes, before the start of last season virtually all the so called experts were predicting Birmingham for automatic promotion.

I mean despite the usual hyperbole at both ends of the scale it could just be that we are a couple of decent additions from success. No one is asking to spend 500 million or that what we have already signed isn't good enough

Honestly, I would be pretty damned shocked if the club announces any signings without some kind of leak happening beforehand.

All of our signings in this window have been leaked to the press before they were announced, to the point that I'm sure it's part of a coordinated effort that the club participates in, even if it's fairly short notice such as Yirenkyi and Tchaouna.

I don't think we're done for incomings/outgoings by a long shot, but I don't think anything will be a surprise and I'm sure there's nothing in these rumours that players are already in but haven't been announced.

I agree we need a left back minimum. If we lose at Arsenal it’s not going to destroy confidence. That’s just complete supposition. I don’t think we’re “short” at CB or striker but quality may be added if the right deal comes along. I certainly don’t see us adding in those positions unless someone leaves, and the exit side of things remains remarkably quiet.

Its been a tough week for bedwetters
So much so I spent most of the afternoon buying new sheet and duvet at M&S.

Do worry about the reported quad injury to Hajdi and FR saying we have bought Awoniyi from Forest for a tidy sum, which seems out of keeping with our recruitment policy (?). Maybe I need to get some sheets for Dean Austin.

Only £7m which is pocket change really for this sort of signing.

I was worried but this business has been wonderful.

If we can get a LB + Acheampong/Tomori it will have been as good of a window as i could have hoped.

Mudryk would just be the cherry on a crazy cake.

I was just about to bump my dry bed thread as well 🤣

It just shows us all to have patience trust the process that has served us perfectly over the last 3 and a half years.

There will be plenty more tough times ahead this season and I'm sure the usual suspects will be sticking the boot in again, but we are doing everything right to stay up.

Sheets are in the wash, powder and softener in, cycle set

Soon as the left back lands im pressing start cycle

Why fucking bother. Will only get told im a shit fan etc, going to do a GIMOC i reckon.

Shame we have lost some of that euphoria

Why can't we go back to this feeling of winning something ......

I'm a little worried for you. You struggled last season even when we were top of the table.

It's going to get a lot worse. If you can't cope when we have our hardest 2 games of the season in the first 3 what are you going to be like when we have a run of losing games to the lower down sides?
