But the point being, if it's a risk just to you then crack on, if your action causes risk to other people, then you abdicate your freedom of choice.

I know we are not there yet, but eventually the risk is going to be just to the unvaccinated. And as far as I’m concerned they can swivel. If it’s been refused I genuinely don’t give a fuck.

It isn't irrelevant internationally for countries with lower vaccine coverage

With caveats about how we're talking scenarios blah blah blah so I don't have some tool pop along and call me a lockdown lover...

tbf, it's the unvaccinated who are more of a risk to others as well, as they're the ones most likely to pass things on, and break any vaccine protection... and they're also the ones that would ignore any voluntary codes of conduct too - they're the ones who'd want to hug me just because they can!

FWIW I agree that if you choose not to have a vaccine, you take on the associated risk for yourself, but if that has an impact on other people, it's a bit pointless telling them to do the right thing if they feel like it. Civil liberties don't come with the right to impose yourself on others, after all.

(I also feel my point about messaging is kind of getting lost, which probably shows how the messaging is poor, tbf!)

Well, them and circa 10% of the vaccinated (even double-dosed) as it's not 100% effective.

They will open everything up on the 19th and probably abdicate responsibility by leaving it to individuals/venues re mask-wearing.

And I'd love (well, no I wouldn't really) to see anybody try and enforce such a voluntary code, at a venue. Just not possible really.

I have. I'm not anti mask but given the quality and application of them I doubt they're much use.

How are we all regarding July 19th? Looking great isnt it. Normality (or as close too).

We still got people cowering behind the sofa even with Whitty and Vallance saying were ok?

It’s the approach of people who advocate going back to normal that winds people up. “Hiding behind the sofa” and this type of patronising garbage- basically taking the piss out of people who have concerns.

I’m for opening up but not belittling people and trying to mock them for being concerned about COVID. If I didn’t wear a mask and someone was obviously bothered by that then I’d put one on- basic courtesy.

If there was a bit more understanding and a bit less arrogance on both sides then it’d be a lot easier

But crossing the road is a risk. We need to fully unlock now. The at risk groups have had the option of vaccines - it’s always been an option to wear masks in Japan when there was concern on SARS and people took the choice they wished to do. We should do that here. I’d never wear one and others may choose to

Being concerned & hiding behind a sofa from a virus that's 98% recoverable from....they deserve to be mocked

If the vaccine is 95% effective against a particular outcome it doesn't mean that it only works on 95% of people. The 95% indicates the percentage reduction in your likelihood to reach that outcome with the vaccine against without vaccine. So different age groups still end up more likely to be hospitalised than others but overall the risk is reduced by 95%.

Domestically I'd say yes it looks fine. Just don't expect to be going anywhere cos other countries won't want us there with that level of infection. We seem to have largely broken the chain of cases to hospitalisation/death with the vaccines but other countries haven't yet.

Never saw the big fuss over masks. They're a pain in the arse sometimes, but they seem to have made a difference, and it's rarely been a problem for me to put one on for a bit. Just glad I'm not in a country where you had to wear them outdoors, which was crazy.

Personally i've not really found them a burden. So I'll keep mine and will probably use them for a little while longer and if I've got a cold or whatever in winter. In fact in the cold might make a nice addition to the hat, scarf and gloves to keep the face warm.

Corona: put a mask on and get Tesco deliveries if you could yeah?

Cars: Pass hundreds of strict regulatory tests costing the industry millions. Restrict driving to those who have passed several state mandated tests. Have an entire division of the police employed to look for infringements. Make you have your car checked every year to ensure it’s safe. Specify exactly how fast you should drive the car on every inch of road in the country. Lay massive taxes and fines on.

Not the way I see some fuckers wearing them.....usually nose poking out the top !

We’re in a funny situation at the moment where most people are partially following the rules (myself included).

Sanitise hands on way into supermarket (even though it probably has little positive affect) -
Wear mask in supermarket -
Wear mask in shops -
Wear mask when entering a bar -
Wear mask on way to/from toilet in a bar -

...Jumping around and hugging randoms (all maskless) in boozer when England score - also

....kind of negates all of the above but I’m trying
