Hull Player Ratings

JDS/Amenda the best player for us. Credit to both EMC and Yerinkyi.

Most of the rest were average, at best.

Charlie Tuna - absolutely woeful.

Grimes being last man is daft. MVE needs to sit back at set pieces to cover pace on break.
MVE was deep cover in the first half & should have been all game, dunno where he was for goal break till I see replays.
I definitely agree Grimes can't do that job he is far too slow, Yiryenki or Onyeka could I think, maybe even Hamer at a stretch.

Amenda and JDS played well. Yirenki dire first half but improved second

Gus played a couple of decent forward passes between the lines which no one else seemed to be able to do.

Saka did more in his first 10 minutes than tuna did all game, he at the moment, looks a terrible buy.

Grimes hasn’t got the pace for the PL.

Can’t argue with the result, they were slightly better than us, but the goal we conceded was awful.

No one seems to be able to cross a ball

Something to keep in mind, last season we failed to beat Sheffield Wednesday at home and Oxford either game and it turned out okay. One game in August, despite how it feels, isn't going to decide if we get relegated. But we do need to improve to give ourselves a chance

We played right into their hands. They set the trap and we fell for it. Trying to throw too many players forward to win the game then get caught on the break.

Arsenal was a right off but that's 3 games and 3 bad performances. Our new players bar Amenda don't look any better than what we had in the Championship.

We must go to a back 5, ditch the wingers against Man City and see how long we can keep it 0-0 for. We are playing for goal difference next week, nothing more.

Rushworth - 6 - fine
MvE - 4 - poor
Thomas - 7 rock solid
Amenda - 8 - looks like a prem CB
JDS - 8 - looks like a prem LB
Grimes - 5 - fine, marked down due to his terrible delivery
Yirenkyi - 7 - looks great, multiple times found space between the lines and nobody played a ball into him.
Rudoni - 4 - positionally awful, creates nothing as a 10, physically/mentally not quick enough to be relied upon as our main creator. Has some of the best PR in the league given how people speak about him.
Tchaouna - 5 - take on your man ffs
Awoniyi - 6 - battled well, linked up nicely a few times, unfortunate with his chance first half
EMC - 7 - had Coyle on toast, needs to get up to speed quickly as we have no replacement.

Subs:
BTA - 1 - not a winger, not good enough in general either
Torp - 4 - looked off the pace
Hamer - 5 - hope he’s eventually starting over Rudoni
Sakamoto - 4 - marked down for not taking the foul
Pinnock - N/A

Need some money spent to get depth in various areas. Cherif also needs to get up to speed - £24m and can’t make the squad?

Lampard may need to change the plan long term if we’re gonna have every chance. He can’t expect us to match teams playing the same style as we did last year.

Best player on the pitch was JDS who everyone wants replacing. The rest have spoilt my Saturday. Worst 2 teams you will see at the CBS all year.

People scoffed at me last season when I said MVE was not a guaranteed step up for the Premier League. He is a poor defender, his positioning is poor.

On the other hand JDS was man of the match and by a long way

Our crossing was poor all game, making it easy for their keeper to command his six yard box. Sakamoto didn't really improve it.

Amenda looked good again. Most players didn't have a terrible game, but we were so poor in the final third. MVE got caught out giving them three counter attacks and they scored from one, didn't heed the warning.

I don’t even know where to start really, I’m not gonna slag the team off but wierd atmosphere outside, bit flat inside too

The team woefully lacked quality in final third, there was a lack of effort a lack of bite, Frank has had a shocker managing minutes and taking off our better players

The Arsenal loss has dented confidence along with pressure of expectation, players scared to make mistakes, falling over, terrible passing and communication

Worrying

He’s an absolute plonker thought he had a corner when it came off him, run with the ball down the line man, play a one two, yes he has defensive frailties but he’s shit going forward and as for positional sense ffs

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood but I don't think JDS was as good as people are saying. All of his crosses went out for goal kicks.

Rushwoth: 6 - Very little to do. Was often looking for the quick release but the players weren't which was frustrating

MvE: 4 - Worry that he hasn't got it at this level. I feel like his best season was the season he joined us and he hasn't really improved. Lacks composure anywhere near goal. His pace has got him out of trouble in the past, but he can't rely on just pace at this level.

Thomas: 6 - Pretty solid again, played some decent long passes in the first half. Was turned once cleanly in the first half

Amenda: 7 - Didn't really put a foot wrong and looks very comfortable on the ball. Wants to take some of Grimes role seemingly

Da Silva: 7 - MoM for me, stepping up his game and skilful as well as solid defensively

Grimes: 5 - We need more from him if he is to be a regular in the team.

Yirenkyi: 6 - Solid game, definitely has to be in the future of this midfield going forwards. Will only get better

Rudoni: 6 - Some nice touches and shows flashes of brilliance, but occasionally like Esse last season he tries clever things at the wrong moments in games

Mason Clarke: 6 - Good performance, rarely loses the ball. Like others needs to be on deliver practice this week

Tchaouna: 5.5 . Thought he was solid, but needs to take people on more as like others work on his delivery

Awonyi: 6 He's a handful, but was working with scraps. Was shattered towards the end when he needed subbing, but we had none left

Subs
Hamer: 6 shows vision others don't have and can pick out passes to feet others can't. Needs fitness and more minutes

Torp: 5.5 some good touches but needs to show more if he is to be a regular starter

BtA: 5. Works hard, but he's not going to cut it at this level if we are going to be honest

Sakamoto: 5 partly responsible for costing us the game. I also have been frustrated this year and last by his unwillingness to take players on.

Pinnock: N/A very odd sub to use. Lampard said Thomas had cramp, but not sure I believe him
.....
Lampard: 4 not impressed, subs looked pretty meditated and were initially made when we were well on top. Even less impressed we had used all 5 with 17 playing minutes left when Awonyi was treading water

As frustrated we are, we need to forget it and move on. Set piece delivery and delivery in general has to be on the training agenda this week.

It’s almost as if we cannot play against teams that sit in and defend.

Let’s see what we are about when teams leave space in behind. Nobody else is coming to the CBS this year to play like Hull have that’s for sure.

I know its all about opinion but there's some astonishingly high scores in there.

Rushworth 4 - what's happened to his kicking and distribution, piss poor again today.
MVE 3 - defensively all over the place; too many backward passes. Expected him to make the grade...
JDS 7 - MoM
Amenda 7 - very good game, solid
Thomas 6 - let down by his distribution again today, apart from one wonder pass

Yirencki 6.5 - Robust, combative and covered the ground
Grimes 4 - Far, far too slow in possession, played too deep and safe.

EMC 6.5 - good game and it all changed when he went off
Rudoni 5.5 - showed glimpses but way off his normal levels
Loum 6 - some good stuff but simply has to do the basics better

Awoniyi 7 - not sure what else he could do given the lack of support and service. Held the ball up and stayed on his feet, so a massive step up on Wright and Simms

Subs changed the game, for the worse
Tats 5 - some usual Tats stuff but little quality with the end product
Hamer 4 - pretty poor. Didnt impact the game, like Grimes played too safe. Dont think he touched the ball for 10 mins after coming on. Game seemed to pass him by
Torp 4 - way too powder puff. Simply not up to the pace and physicality
BTA 3 - woeful

FL 4 - Got done today. Wrong tactics and subs today

Rushworth 6 one good save 1st half, not much to do, does seem flustered compared with last year at the moment like with that late throw out.
Milan 6 - not great on the ball
Thomas 7 thought he played well
Amenda 8 thought he looked very solid
JDS - good performance
Grimes 5 - think he is going to be the player to be sacrificed in a few weeks, as unfortunately his attributes aren’t what’s needed for our defensive midfielder this season, poor set pieces too
Yirenki 7 - shame he’s not the 3rd man in a 3 midfield with 2 experienced premier league performers so could ease into the league
Loum 5 I thought he was poor defensively, and looked knackered after 1 run first half
Rudoni 6 looked quite sharp considering missed pre season
EMC 7 a threat
Awon 6 lack of mobility a concern but so:e good hold up play

Tats 7 played well when came on
BTA 3 shocking way out his depth, needs to keep it simple and pass ball quicker
Torp 4 awol when came on
Hamer 5

Im not sure how loum was poor defensively but he bailed out mve multiple times but mve rated higher along with sakamoto 😂

Just goes to show people get blinded by favourites.

Some need a reality check , last season has gone and while it was fantastic players need judging on performance and not sentiment.
MvE , Grimes and Sakamoto have all been poor so far this season

Sakamoto and MVE are coverable though, Sakamoto isnt first choice either.

Grimes plays in probably the most important position on the pitch and isnt physically up to it.

Oggy also said same about loum, and Sakamoto was an upgrade when came on, so I wasn’t only one.

As to whom was to blame defensively, toss of a coin as they were playing wingbacks and I think Milan was following instructions to hold his position leaving loum to track Giles. Also knocked a mark off him for that horrendous back pass 1st half
