Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (7 Viewers)

I think there’s a clash with both teams having navy blue shorts with their home kit unfortunately so they would have had to change it anyway for this match
Why not just change the shorts ? They mixed and matched kit for Man City.

I fear this is the game Spurs finally make it work. Let’s be real, with their squad they should be doing a lot lot better.

They looked good against United.

I’ll go a frustrating 1-0 or 2-1 loss for this.
Yeah. Feels like it’s got to happen for them sooner or later…from the little I’ve seen they seemed to be creating/playing ok but just not scoring.

If by some miracle we manage to get a result you’d also think their manager will be under v real pressure.

Not a clue who id start. Might give EMC a break as not happening for him at the moment. Feels wrong to drop Cherif or Simms (who I think has looked pretty decent in most his outings).
I’m still wanting to see a midfield of Yirenkyi and Onyeka but Torp and Grimes have performed really well too.
I guess though we’ll have 5/3 at the back so someone is being shifted for Mfuni…EMC!

There we are. Got there in the end.

Looking good against United isnt difficult at the moment, they are dog shit!
They have the same number of points as we have, and yet weve played the top 3 in the league, and up to.the last 2 games had had a really bad start.

1-1 draw

And they still put 5 past Ipswich. Think we'll put up a good fight and get a draw at least. Wouldn't surprise me if we came away with a 1 goal win.

We could definitely be capable of getting a win, ot just depends on which midfield performs on the night.

Up to now weve allowed the opposition to have too much control in midfield, and been too slow when going forward, but that improved against Newcastle, and hopefully will improve some more on Monday.

We should be high on confidence and I hope we go for it right from the start

Newcastle had the better of the middle of the park. They were poor GK, defence and attack. We were very good in defence and attack. Same again please

Its what morons say if someone dares say a single thing about their team. I thought it was more of an EFL thing tbh, seems its bled into the Prem.
It seems to be a ' we're a big club' thing. In reality they have spent an absolute fortune just to win the UEFA Europa league and League Cup this century.

Couldn't afford a rollout pitch though to accommodate all the other events.

Every Spurs fan would be expecting a win here. I'd be playing like horrible bastards first 30, give them no space and force them into mistakes.

Once the fans are on their backs then the game can come to us a bit more.
This is the 7th game this season that they expect to win 😂

But they obviously think a promoted team are below them. I mean we are, we have nowhere near their resources.

We should play the underdog, annoy them when we can and get their fans on them.

Once the fans are on them we capitalise on the mistakes

Its hard to know what to think. Their playing squad is clearly much better than ours so on paper I expect them to win. There's just something rotten at Spurs these last few years though. Snap your hand off for a point anyway.

They see themselves as a top 6 side. They look down at most others. They will still be arguing about each game and the reasons they didn't win..

Their manager is a major problem. He ends up leaving each club before the contract is up under mutual agreement. Not good when joining a side already with major issues.

It's that long ago when they last won the league, they weren't even in London! Tottenham was in the county of Middlesex until 1965, London hadn't expanded that far when they won that double 😅
What a fact if that is true.

Genereal consensus amongst neutrals, and of course Tottenham fans is that they will click soon enough, and the Man U performance was the start of that, so we're going to get a battering. Let's see.

I'd like Frank to change it around for Monday. I would assume he will switch back to 3 CBs with Mfuni coming in.
I would play a midfield 3 of Oneyka, Yirrenkyi & Hamer / Torp with Rudoni playing behind Simms. Bring on the wingers if we are chasing the game. He won't do that. Grimes will start, and probably Cherif too,

Spurs have been where they are for 2 and a bit years now.

They'll play well one game, and badly the next.

2 things...

1) They played well last game;
2) There will be an expectation from ALL of them... fans, players, club etc. That they will win..

Could be a famous night.

Funny thing about Tottenham is that I grew up genuinely seeing them as a winnable game home and away. Our record against them post 87 was pretty good. In the early PL era we did the double over them in the first two seasons.
