Don't think Awoniyi has the right to walk straight back into the starting 11. Maybe give him the last half hour
It would be harsh on either of Cherif or Simms if they missed out, either starting or from the bench.

I get what Awoniyi would bring to the side but after both your strikers scored in the previous game they could rightly be a bit aggrieved at being replaced by someone whose last appearance result in a stupid red card.

He'll probably have Simms missing out, just as he gets a smile on his face and actually celebrates scoring.

Cherif played well Monday but I don’t think he won a header all night. We’re going to be under the cosh against Spurs and Awoniyis hold up is by far the best out of our strikers, play your best 11.

2 of the greatest days of my Cov supporting life came against Spurs, in 87 and 97. I don't think of them as a rival at all, any more than any other team is. I would consider them in a bracket with Everton, Villa, Chelsea in terms of stature and size of club, certainly a notch below the traditional massive teams.
Some of the traditional massive teams are fairly recent additions to the group, almost entirely due to money.

Yeah weird one that, never had an issue with them, in fact quite liked watching them during the bale/modric days. Maybe theyve stil got the needle over 87 😏
Maybe the ‘We’re going to Arsenal, you’re going to Spurs’ chant at the end of last season has rubbed them up the wrong way!

I fear this is the game Spurs finally make it work. Let’s be real, with their squad they should be doing a lot lot better.

They looked good against United.

I’ll go a frustrating 1-0 or 2-1 loss for this.

Frankie just needs to feed a couple of the fan comments to our lads for that built in hardness and appetite to go well

If I found out that Lampard thought quoting a couple of rockets off the Internet was the,way to fire the players up I'd want him sacked.

I'm more than happy with his current method of hard work on the training pitch and instilling a culture of high levels of fitness and good nutrition over quoting Enfield spur calling us tinpot!

Looks like we might be wearing our 3rd kit Monday

Same

No big deal

2 successive home games against two clubs we can realistically target finishing above after Monday are way more important

I bet the Sky presenters / pundits will mention the toon game 😉

Had a look at the Spurs forum

Did have to smirk at the comment of "Another Micky Mouse team that has some sort of strange one sided rivalry with us. Fucking weirdos."

Can honestly say I have never once saw Tottenham Hotspur as a rival:ROFLMAO: Wouldn't even say I dislike them, of the so called 'Big 6' they are probably the side I would be happy to see win a trophy the most

My only gripe with them is their collapse enabling the inbreds to win the fucking Prem in 2016

They'll hate Lampard as well even though their London rivals in Chelsea and Arsenal have been on a different stratosphere to them for many years

Crazy thing to say given the last time they won a title was 65 years ago. Hardly a 'massive top 6 club' themselves.

Typical. The reason for this seasons abomination of a home kit is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of winning the cup, yet when we come to play the team we beat, we’re not even going to wear it!
I think there’s a clash with both teams having navy blue shorts with their home kit unfortunately so they would have had to change it anyway for this match

On their forums, most of them think they’re going to put 3 or 4 past us
Genuinely would not surprise me if they did put a few past us, we tend to be a bit loose at times....

I hope we revert to our Man City/Nottingham Forest away blueprint for this one.

They’re odd comments. I mean I expect them to finally click but where on earth have we been “forcing some kind of one sided rivalry”

There's nothing to fear.

It's a good time to play Spurs. Remember Southampton at the start of last season who had Will Still as manager? He didn't have the experience at Championship level and got found out. It was predictable but many still couldn't see it. This time it's a manager that causes trouble wherever he goes. He always argues with players and those in charge of the clubs he manages. He also has never had a good start at any club he has gone to.

They went to Forest and were the best side, but they couldn't even manage a shot on target. Newcastle went to their place and won 0-2. They've only played 2 top half clubs. Lost to Brentford 3-0 and drew with Everton 0-0. Put that against us losing to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place teams.

They've been the better side in most of their games yet have only scored 3 goals and conceded 9. We're bouncing after winning our last 2 games. I'm not saying it's going to be easy, but it's a good time to play them.

Chances are we’ll lose but we’ve then got a very nice run of home games that we should pick up points and be comfortably midtable by the start of December.

Its what morons say if someone dares say a single thing about their team. I thought it was more of an EFL thing tbh, seems its bled into the Prem.

also given their kit is white

It's that long ago when they last won the league, they weren't even in London! Tottenham was in the county of Middlesex until 1965, London hadn't expanded that far when they won that double 😅

Key for me will be keeping a clean sheet for the first 30 mins. They are one of those clubs with “entitled” supporters that look down their nose at clubs like us and start booing their side if they’re not beating us. Pressure will build on them the longer they aren’t winning, it’s a must win for them. Key for me will be competing in midfield and retaining a good threat on the counter. If Solanke is up top, I think his style will play to our strengths, stopping the likes of Tonali and Maddison is crucial, both are class.
