Match Thread Nottingham Forest vs Coventry City (A) - City Ground - Sat 19th September (5.30pm KO) (5 Viewers)

Why do you feel the need to cast a negative on a big positive ? It makes you as bad as them. And to be fair Chris, it’s a forum where people post their views, and most posters who expressed concern at the starting line up (like me) were desperate for City to win, and most of us are elated that Frank knew a damn sight more than us.

Been grinning form ear to ear since ive been back home after watching us get our first goal and first 3 points of the season!!

Well organised, aggressive in our defending. Passed the ball around nicely when it was on. You could tell at half time that we just needed that little bit of quality and composure and we would score.

I'm very happy with how we battled. Thomas always gave Delap a shove just before a cross was delivered into the box. Little things like that is what makes Premier League players. Putting your body in front of the opponent just before contact etc. Pinnock and Mfuni seemed to win everything.

Yirenkyi was a beast at right back and Onyeka covered so much ground in the middle. Thomas-Asante worked his socks off and did some good play in the final third that could easily have resulted in a goal. Rudoni had some very good bits of play and is getting better with each game.

Last but not least, our best player so far this season. Take a bow Jay Dasilva. The run, touch and finish is what you expect from world class players. He has improved so much as a player and has been playing well for well over a year now.

That was a proper away performance full of organisation, energy, effort and composure (generally), for the full 90, capped off by a fine goal from the "big man". I had been critical up to this point but that sets a benchmark and hopefully a platform to build off.

Like a lot of folk, I wasnt enamoured by the team selection but turns out Lampard got it bob on, including the defensive shape from the front, which had been missing previously.

Goal, clean sheet = perfect 3 Points.

SBA take a bow, efforts matched the team.

Fancy meeting for a beer mate? You sound a bundle of laughs tonight?!

No thanks

It’s a valid point, and I’m not going to lose my head after a couple of losses or think we’re gonna win the league after one win either - yeah I’m on a high but also we should be targeting these games if we want to have any hope of survival and should believe we can beat the likes of Forest, otherwise that small team lucky to be here mentality kicks in…

what I said still stands though, let’s see what happens when the players are back fit and we’re not forced into playing a certain way - will he drop Grimes? will BTA still play? will MVE come back in? Awoniyi?

For the FPL aficionados I think BTA's 16 defcon is a record for a forward player.

Great performance great win. Frank selected the grafters today.

Some posters missing???
They’ve all fucked off it’s hilarious

Full credit has to go to Lampard for this one, the team looked strange but it worked.

And to be on 3 points after 5 games is not a great start but it’s hardly unexpected either and certainly not season ending.

Fucks sake, just got you one in!

But I agree, one win, let's not get ahead of ourselves, but, equally, the negative reaction to our poor start was over the top

I’m not sure I’ve had an overly negative reaction to the poor start - admittedly I had a complete WTF meltdown in terms of the team selection tonight and by either luck or judgment it worked so fair fucks

where are you, wouldn’t like to see a good pint wasted… Guinness I hope?

I left Rushworth in nets and Verbrugen on the bench!

The negative reaction comment wasn't aimed at you, just a general observation.

Still en route home, so no pint waiting unfortunately mate

Selected the grafters. The front three could drop off and be comfortable in midfield but had the energy and determination for the counter attack. I think it side footed Forest a bit (intentionally). An out of possession selection.

I think if there is a message to some new signings. It is Franks belief in working hard on the training field. Just because we paid 15 or 20 million for you doesn’t walk you into the side. You have to earn your place.
