Respect where it's due Hulls game plan worked a treat again. Everybody knew how they were going to set up.

Everybody knew their job and they executed and just waited for us to make a mistake which we obliged time an again.

In my opinion we were lucky we didnt lose 2 nil and again. We could have played for another 90 mins and still not score.

He could have set up so differently

Their sub Millar almost got 2 goals (scored 1)
Our Subs made us worse.

I could go on and on.

Sometimes you have to suck it up and play with what you have.

We could have put on a 75m striker and I dont think the result would have looked much different. For me tactics were found wanting.

Why don't you apply for the job then when the usual suspects hound him out

While it’s frustrating to see the exact same failures again it at least means we should know how to fix it.

Lampard imo should gain some inspiration from our game plan when we went on our run in 24/25.

I know it wasn’t pretty but the 5-3-2 really allowed us to grind out results.

I have a feeling this is going to have to come. However, we are a bit limited with contenders for the 2 part of the formation at the moment

JDS isn’t the profile of player to play in a 3-5-2. You need the FB/WB to be able to get up and down quickly and constantly, providing the width in attack and defensive cover coming back. It’s a very particular physical type. MVE is the physical profile, though personally I’m not sure his delivery is good enough. But it wouldn’t be too much of an imagination stretch trying him there.

JDS is technical, perhaps suited to drifting in to the centre of midfield for a ball retention style of play, but not for 3-5-2 in PL.

This isn’t a comment on my view of his ability level. JDS might be a good footballer comfortable with the ball at his feet, which might make him suitable for some more advanced positions, but not this one.

Sometimes we get caught up in complexities of the game but football is about the team connections and combinations. If they are good then the team functions well and positive results are achieved. The promotion winning team had the following
Right Flank - Tats & MVE
Centre Defence - Thomas & Kitchen
Midfield - Grimes & Onyeka
Left Flank - Dasilva & EMC
Forward - Simms &:Wright

These team connections/combinations are now in transition to
RF - Tchaouna
CD - Amenda
MID - Yirenkyi
LF - ? could change
FWD - Awoniyi
What worked last season will need time to develop unfortunately. Also the team attributes which I think are PACE, BITE and STING need to be embedded.
We had plenty of STING from around the team scoring 90+ goals. BITE came in from Frank The Tank which added to the success of the team.
I"m hopeful that Tchaouna & Yirenkyi can add some PACE to our play

It was noticeable that Hull's best chance, as well as their goal came from a break away where they relied on pure pace against a slow central defence.

Arsenal's first goal also came from a very quick pass and first time shot (after MvE error)

My point being that pace and quick ball movement has been our undoing, while we want to take far too many touches and sideways passes before looking for our 1 striker who is then being marked by 2 defenders.

We need to learn from the 2 defeats very quickly.
