Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth - Permanent (2 Viewers)

Im not sure Dovin is anything more than slightly above average TBH

Even when he played i found his shot stopping decent but was poor on crosses stayed stationary on his line and his handling was just decent .

His distribution was good

I think if we had dovin in goal last season we dont get 95 points
I think there's a bit of recency bias there. Dovin is better than slightly above average.

Now the bed wetters can have clean sheets :)

Rushworth out for ages with injury in 23/24 when on loan to Hull.

It still doesn't change the fact that GK's are the least likely player to get a bad injury.

...unless we are in the Championship of course
If he has a good season he'll be going to a bigger club than Brighton

I found his shot stopping decent but he was poor form crosses and corners , stayed on his line but his handling was decent.

Just above average is where he sits for me
Hes clearly a couple of levels below rushworth who i class as a very good keeper

Disagree.

I’ll happily agree that he had a slow start but without his performances in Jan-Feb, we don’t make the playoffs. He had a lot of metrics that indicated he was a top 5 Championship keeper at that moment in time.

Rushworth is a better keeper so it’s worked well in the end. We’ll make a neat profit on Dovin imo, providing he recovers properly.

We will see where dovins career takes him , its just how i feel

Did any seniors watch Reg Matthews?
Reg was good enough to play for England when we were in the Third Division. He was something special and Rushworth is clearly comparable, but it's difficult to compare goalies 70 years apart. My lovely Aunty Bett knew Reg, and he took my autograph album with him when he went to play for England Under 23s.

Any idea when we think the medical/announcement will be?

Do we have to wait for the official announcement before we can laugh at people who genuinely thought we’d be signing Mark Travers to replace him? 😂😂

Further to that, anyone that thought Ben Wilson would be goal against Arsenal needs to be excluded from the forum.

Dovin is a decent championship keeper, still think he would have saved the Isidor goal in the play offs, but Rushworth is just so much better, Dovin needs a loan and see if he can progress and get his confidence back. This time next year, there's every chance he's first choice for us in the championship.

He may of been rated mid table at the time of his injury, but he's a young inexperienced keeper who was getting better and better with every game. His ceiling was and still is very high.

Maybe , we will see

There appears to be no buy back from what I have read from the latest 'Its done (but its not really)' articles which is great
JH dud say he'd bet his Segway on it !!

100% - he was a POTS contender before his injury. Particularly stepped up during the start of our run in Jan-Feb. There were several games we won when we should’ve dropped points because of his 8-9 out of 10 performances.

All the Twitter “£30M is too much” rabble have now been shut up over the fee but now they all have their suspicions about buy back clauses.

There was even some clown on Skyblues fancast claiming that it was reported that Brighton wanted £40m

There was one at home against QPR I think when at 0-0 he stopped certain goal somehow. We then scored a winner with virtually the last kick of the match. It's not on that YouTube bunch of saves

Travers as a backup keeper isn't a bad idea mind

Yeah, I think it's been so long since anyone last saw him play it's difficult to remember if he was any good or not.
I recall when he got injured at Sheffield United, some thinking that was our chances of the play offs over.
