Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth - Permanent (7 Viewers)

Usually there is an option for the selling club to buy back within a certain time period, or after a certain amount of time. Man Ciy did it with James Trafford. Essentially we would be powerless if they decided to activate it at the amount agreed.
...at a preagreed price I assume

who was the little keeper we had, saw him at Watford and the ball looped over his jump to save it?? memory's totally gone btw

Michael Quirke?

Our number one at the time (can't remember if it was Westwood or Murphy then) got injured, we signed an emergency loan keeper and he got injured after 5 mins, so Quirke came on for his debut, think he was only 17.

But then by that logic you should never spend decent money on any player in case they get injured? Any club is in trouble when their starting keeper goes down. Not many teams have 2 starting quality keepers. Signing Rushworth is a no-brainer
No - it's the fraction of money invested in one key position that's the concern.

It is great getting Rushy on a perm. Big boost for the rest of the squad as well, as they have confidence in him.

Curious fact I have mentioned before, but until Dovin, Robins had a lousy record with goalies - O'Brien, Burge, Marosi (ok for L1), Moore (ok briefly), Collins. The one exception has been Wilson, obviously bang on for what we wanted from him.

Identifying this problem with goalies is yet more proof that King and Lampard are good at the big strategic purchases (see also Grimes), although less good at the speculative little ones.

Please dont send your apologies all at once 🤣
apologies for what? You said we would spend 40 million and we have already surpassed that comfortably

hull fans on here (plenty of them now)…

what’s he like?

Given the consequence of the result for Forest i think that's the greatest all round goalkeeping performance I've ever seen; nothing could get past him

What do you mean by the consequences for forest?

Well that's that over at last!

I thought £15m max but there seems to be a big inflation this summer with the new spending rules.

It's a huge gamble really. £20m odd rising to £30m is an awful lot to put into one position and only an injury away from losing the lot. It'll restrict what we do elsewhere on the pitch too. LB needs addressing pretty badly and probably a CB and cover for Grimes/Onyeka. I'm not sure at all.
Im not sure it will effect what else we can do or atleast plan to do otherwise i think they would have looked elsewhere , youd imagine this fee is factored into our plan

Probably a little harsh on Marosi, I thought he was very good in League One and was doing okay in the Championship until he picked up that eye/face injury and just didn’t seem to recover.

Marosi was one of my favourite recent(ish) keepers. I remember we played Shrewsbury a couple of seasons ago in pre-season and he still looked half decent then.

i liked Marosi, thought his shot stopping and distribution was good to be fair.

I'll always remember his song going on for what seemed like the whole of the second half away to Ipswich before the lock down

I believe Dovin would’ve improved on a quality first season had he not done his ACL. The next step for all parties involved is get him a good loan. That way, we either get a solid replacement for Rushworth or more likely, we can sell for a profit.

Feel for Dovin, it will be a case of ‘what could’ve been’.

24/25 was a butterfly effect for our GK situation, Rushworth goes to Hull gets injured for the season so doesn’t build on a great 23/24 and in mean time, Dovin does his ACL. If either one of those things doesn’t happen, Rushworth doesn’t sign in 25/26.

Im not sure Dovin is anything more than slightly above average TBH

Even when he played i found his shot stopping decent but was poor on crosses stayed stationary on his line and his handling was just decent .

His distribution was good

I think if we had dovin in goal last season we dont get 95 points

Watford away, he looked absolutely tiny in goal. We scored 2 late goals and drew 2-2. Great day out.

Another piece of the jigsaw. I do think Brightons stance is particularly odd. I don’t know why they didn’t just offer him a new deal. Now if he does any good they are potentially 10-20m out of pocket to get him back. Anyway - who cares

I reckon the add ons will be 5m if we stay up and the rest when he makes his England Debut

Because they don't see him as their number one, and if he isn't sold then their asset just decreases in value.

so if this is all done, when will be announced? 5pm? or will they keep it dragging on until friday?

Gives them a bit of breathing room with Verbruggen. They may sell him next summer and decide Rushworth is worthy of a spot as first choice in the prem.

Hopefully they release the Rushworth signing with our new striker taking shots at him.
