Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth - Permanent (7 Viewers)

There was one at home against QPR I think when at 0-0 he stopped certain goal somehow. We then scored a winner with virtually the last kick of the match. It's not on that YouTube bunch of saves
Also games like Sheff Wednesday where we nicked it with a last minute winner… They were camped in our half most of the game and he made decent saves.

I have no qualms saying Rushworth is much better, Dovin deserves a bit more respect than ‘just average’. He may not return ‘right’ but he’d turned a corner after he won the starting berth back.

Reg Matthews still the best. Sold him to Chelsea in November 1956 for £22,000. He already had five full England caps by then, even though he still played for a third division team. That was the most ever paid for a goalkeeper at the time.

Yeah good shout didn't quite see him play, not old enough, so even back then Chelsea were splashing records amounts of cash. 🤑

All the Twitter “£30M is too much” rabble have now been shut up over the fee but now they all have their suspicions about buy back clauses.
The buy back clause and hefty sell on clause seems to be what has kept the initial fee down and got his signing over the line.

I'm now quite confident we will stay up. We have a giant in Amenda who will constantly cut out crosses in the middle of defence and one of the best GK's in the Prem. They are going to be very busy some games. But in the games against the lower down sides they will prove their worth. I can already envisage the rave reviews they will be getting.

I saw Glazietbplay and indeed went to his testimonial but I was young !! My dad was at Maine arias when he broke his leg and remains convinced that he would have played for England had that not happened. Obviously Oggy is an all time legend but I’m not so sure that at his best Hedman wasn’t better ?

Correct injury strikes again re Glazier and England. 🤕

Well - we've seen no evidence that he's one of the best goalies in the Prem have we?

Kind of wish they hadn't had the keeper kit in the launch the other day.

Would have liked a 'goalkeeper kit revealed at 5pm' type post and then its Rushworth wearing it.

It's hardly going to be a surprise now is it, when it's announced.

So you didn't see him play last season then? Because if you did anyone who knows anything about football could see what a talent he is.

Dovin would be the perfect No.2 in goal. Certainly won't be getting interest from other Prem sides, but I would put him better than some other reserve GK's at other clubs.

I'm loving the signing of him & genuinely think he'll play for England one day but just saying he's not even played in the Prem so he can't literally be one of the best there (yet)

so if this is all done, when will be announced? 5pm? or will they keep it dragging on until friday?

I bet the videos already done, they love keeping us waiting don't they. 😡

Absolutely not. He needs to be playing games at this point in his career and because he hasn’t played for 16 months, he can’t definitively demonstrate he’s ready to be called upon.

Ideally, I’d sign a back up GK, Wilson 3rd choice and Dovin sent out on loan to build up his value.

What time do we think?

So why did we pay so much for him?

Yes he will be busier next season, but you can't deny his quality of saves and how good his handling is. This won't diminish just because he is playing at the next level next season. It will be more obvious when he is making world class saves against world class players in a division watched all around the world.

Lampard didn't make him his top target for no reason. There's not many clubs that have a GK as their record signing.

Leeds about to drop twice as much on Trafford who has more top flight experience at a younger age.

We will see where dovins career takes him , its just how i feel

He started poorly which can happen for an overseas player when they first arrived in a new country, but had really hit form before his injury. It's a shame you can't isolate the stats for that 10-15 game run, which is probably a better indicator of how good he is

I suppose I should have added in the future. Thought that would be quite obvious as he still isn't fit and we have no idea when he will be ready to play his next game.

Let's try again.

Hopefully he will be back in training and ready to play before the transfer window closes. Then hopefully we can find him a club to join for the season where he will play the whole season and get the game time he desperately needs. If not then available to any club that is allowed an emergency GK loan. If not then made available in January on loan.

Add this before my previous short post.

Are we expecting him to remove a helmet to reveal himself and then a caption along the lines of 'He's a keeper' or something similar
Better if it's been him painting the stadium all this time and it zooms in

That would make him their record signing if correct. Can't think of any others though.

Like I said there's not many. Shows the importance both sides have made the position.

Arsenal spent £30 million on Raya a few seasons ago…
