Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (15 Viewers)

If Lampard is going to prioritise hard-working wingers over on-the-ball talent, why did we not sign wingers with great defensive numbers?
You make out like the decision is based on ability? I suspect there is more to it than that, and if so, I 100% support Frank Lampards' judgement if he thinks they are best left out of the squad.

Bit worried we're going to get overloaded in defence with 4 at the back and them having 3 attackers (plus wing backs).

I think Kudus and Marmoush will cause us all sorts of problems between our full backs and centre backs

Got to trust Lampard but surprised by the lack of Ghobo or Tuna.

Also surprised at the shape, thought it would be back to 3-4-3

You gotta be asking serious question about whoever did the groundwork/ scouting on these players though.
Let's just see what happens longer term really. Nobody would have doubted Gboho credentials or Tchaouna really. I get the feeling the former player isn't fit enough as Lampard has hinted at it (and he was miles off against Villa despite the prevailing view on here)

Perhaps we need to be a bit more thorough in our scouting, that's a lot of money spent for two players who are apparently frozen out for the time being because of attitudes.

Then again, who really knows the full story.

Think it will be a lose 3-0 tonight they have some really good players. They will overrun our midfield and dominate the width.

jfc we signed these players for years not a few weeks in our first season up. If Lampard is sticking with players he knows he can trust to do a lot of thankless work while we build confidence and competence in the league, sound. Chill the f*ck out.

Mate we spent 30 million on 2 players so we can let them sit in the stands while we use championship players. Really isn't that smart
It is smart. If they are being toxic and the manager rewards that with game time what kind of message does that send? Sometimes principals and setting the right culture is bigger than one fixture.
I hope IF they are playing up Bobby and the senior players are helping Lampard sort whatever is going on.

Not at all, if they're acting the prick they deserve it, regardless of price tag.
If you're a club that can afford to dick around with £35 million worth of player then sure but I think there needs to be some understanding of what we are. Should be bringing them to the table and squashing any issues double quick.

If we’re being honest, if it clicks for Spurs tonight we are in trouble. Lot of talent in that team.

Work hard, frustrate them, do the basics right and hope Tottenham do a Tottenham and the fans start getting on their back.

We have to be clinical on the counter if want something from this game, space will be there for us.

Im concerned that Sakamoto and BTA will get completely bypassed and Spurs dominate in midfield.
I'd of thought we'd start with a back 3 with wingbacks and Awonyi up front, id of also thought Onyeka would of been more suited to this game than Yirenkyi. 🤷‍♂️

Lampard when the French lads ask if BTA is starting ahead of them again.

Thought the one that might drop out was EMC but Sakamoto is a bit of a risk. Sure, he'll work his nuts off and help out defensively but think he may find the physicality a bit much from the start. Think he works better off the bench where the tiredness evens it out a bit. Still not sure Grimes is the best option in the middle, especially away from home, but he was never going to get dropped. Got my reservations about 4ATB away from home too.

Glad to see KKH back on the bench but no Loum or Gboho isn't going to do anything for the rumours.

I think tonight we'll need to survive a bit of an onslaught for the first 15-20 mins by hook or by crook and then I think we'll see the natives get restless and start barracking the team. If we don't manage that it could be a hard evening though.
Did anyone notice how quickly Joelinton overtook Tats from a standing start before the Simms goal. 4 or 5 paces. Doubt if Tats has the necessary speed.

That said, are we effectively 8 at the back? Two defensive banks of four
