Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (1 Viewer)

Spurs improved in the Man U game - they are gelling slowly as we started with many new players - hopefully we have enough glue to get a result - based on NU game it’s definitely coming

If Awoniyi comes back into the squad who drops out? Harsh to drop Simms after scoring but do we need 3 strikers in the squad if we're only playing with one? Hamer maybe?

Annoying thing is they’ve got around 50 hours rest on us. Fully expect Spurs to turn a corner and get going sooner or later, hopefully it doesn’t begin until after.

Hopefully Cherif gets the start.
Prime athletes with a week between matches.
I'm sure we will be ready & Starting to fancy us in the underdog role for this match.
Our shooting boots are back on Lampard Style.

On the 1pm train, 2 Cov fans, 2 Spurs fans (all from Cov), all in corporate, got a hotel in Kings Cross and will be drinking around there to start. Done £300 and haven't had a pint yet. And it's on my birthday.

What could possibly go wrong? 👀💃

You can, and Lampard has done in the past.

Whilst we are all very encouraged by Cherif's game the other night, he didn't hold the ball up particularly well or win many (if any) headers. There were periods of the first half, where we just couldn't get hold of the ball and it was hoofed clear and it kept coming back. A better team than Newcastle will punish that.

It'll be harsh on a Cherif, but it's a squad game as Lampard says and the squad needs to be used appropraitely. Awoniyi will be more of a handful for Van Hecke & Senesi, in the type of game it's expected to be.
I do actually think Lampard will start Awoniyi but I would give Cherif the start

Think we have to look at going back to the 3-4-3 / 3-4-2-1 for this one.

Rushworth
Mfuni - Thomas - Pinnock
MVE - Onyeka - Grimes - Dasilva
Rudoni - Awoniyi - Gboho

That’s what I would go with, although I am tempted to start with Cherif. He may well make an appearance at some point although if we are ahead I would probably bring Simms on rather than Cherif.

A win would be fabulous but a draw will do me.

I'll let someone park on my drive in Cheshunt if they can me a ticket!
Currently trying to blag my way into the home end.

FYI anyone driving - Parking at the top of the overground at Cheshunt and then the Weaver Line to White Hart Lane is by far and away your best bet
Looking at this last night. Any known issues with parking at Edmonton Shopping Centre? Looks like 30 mins walk away and then guess will hit some traffic getting out. Any experience of using this before?

Edmonton is a shit hole but aside from that, getting into and out of Edmonton will take way longer than parking at Cheshunt and hopping on a quick train. There's a reason its always rammed on a Spurs match day.

Back to a three and a box for me. I’d have two strikers on the bench just for the option of two up front if we need a goal.

Rushworth
Mfuni Thomas Pinnock
Yirenkyi Onyeka Grimes Dasilva
Rudoni BTA
Cherif

S: Bentley, MvE, Latibeaudiere, Torp, Hamer, Sakamoto, Gboho, Simms, Awoniyi

No EMC?

Rushworth

Mfuni Thomas Pinnock

MvE Yirenkyi Grimes JDS

Rudoni Gboho

Cherif

Imagine it'll be BTA instead of Gboho but I'm keen for us to have more attacking flair on the counter in this one.

As others have said they haven’t been as bad as their league position suggests. If they score early it could be a long night but if we can keep them quiet early doors I think the fans would turn quite quickly.

This is the team I would go with.

I think we will go back to a back 3 with wingbacks. I would start Onyeka because I think we will need an extra body in midfield and he was fantastic at Forest.

Rudoni obviously needs to start.

Harsh on Cherif but I've put Awoniyi in the starting team for his experience. He's scored at grounds like Old Trafford etc. Whereas Cherif is only 19 and the occassion might be too much for him away from home.

Also harsh on Thomas-Asante missing out as would like his work rate, energy and pressing in the team, but have gone for Onyeka to play instead of him in the midfield.

We probably aren't going to have more than 30% possession so would like an extra player in the centre to shore up the midfield.

If we are chasing the game, we can bring on Cherif, Simms and the wingers.

BTA will play, Lampard will think his pressing is invaluable away from home in game where we won't see much of the ball.

Let's hope they're still on the beach.
After their team building exercise, can't believe it's strictly necessary.

Lamps clearly has an issue with Tuna and Gboho. Otherwise we’ve got to see them in action playing in front of a back 4 to see if we can get up the pitch a bit better. Dream result against Newcastle, but let’s be honest it was our night and our XG excluding the penalty was less than 1.

in time I want to see

Rushworth
MVE
jDS
(2 out of Thomas, Pinnock and Amenda)
Gboho / Wright
yirenkyi alongside Mfuni
Tuna/ Tats
Rudi
Awoniyi or Cherif

That gives us a decent defensive spine but with more flair .

The pitch is being relaid ready for our game on Monday, will it roll up like the Ricoh one did if anyone slide tackles?

Its harsh on Cherif to be dropped for Awoniyi straight away, however I do think this game will suit Awoniyi more and Cherif to come on last 20 mins, I dont think Lampard will drop Grimes I also thought Grimes was good the other night anyways, BTA stays in for his work rate which will be heavily needed and he plays better on the left than the right as shown the other night, Rudi looked his old self against Newcastle lets keep the ball rolling, defence and keeper dont need to explain anything easy decision for this fixture, we wont see much of the ball and will need to soak up the pressure, I was tempted to put Yirenkyi RWB and Onyeka in CM but Milan looked much better against Newcastle

Awoniyi in Lats out.

But the starting 11, FL has some decisions to make, but i'm sure he will adapt to what he think Spurs will do. He will not want to get overrun in midfield so id expect FFT to come in and a change of system.

It’s difficult with a squad that’s larger than a match day squad so we have to leave a few guys out. I imagine Tchaona was left out and got sulky about it. Hard to know what Frank can do though. I think we’ll go the back 5 again and drop an attaching player. Perhaps EMC. He will surely play BTA again and probably Awoniyi for experience. It’ll be a tough game. Draw would be great.
