Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (1 Viewer)

Spurs should have been out of sight by half time at the weekend, I do believe they will eventually click and give somebody a pasting, that may well be us but winning the other night has taken a bit of pressure off this one - As long as we get a good result against Fulham this can be filed as a bit of a free hit

I would snap your hands off for a point

Anything from this game would be more than acceptable. I am wary of this match after 2 wins.

It'll be another Forest type set up, with a back 3 and pack the midfield. We will need the ball to stick up front a lot more than it did against Newcastle, so as harsh as it is on Cherif, Awoniyi comes back in.

Plenty of attacking options on the bench should we need to use them. But a point should be the first target.

Spurs looked pretty good last week end tbf and its a matter of time before they start to get it right. But home fans can soon be on their backs if they do not start well. That's where we come in. Make sure we keep the ball as much as possible the first 20 minutes and press like little demons giving them no time on the ball. It could be anything this game but I do think our midfield needs to be the right pick.
A draw is what we must be looking for, anything else a bonus. Lose and it's not the end of the world if we compete and play well.

FYI anyone driving - Parking at the top of the overground at Cheshunt and then the Weaver Line to White Hart Lane is by far and away your best bet
I'll let someone park on my drive in Cheshunt if they can me a ticket!
Currently trying to blag my way into the home end.

Would like us to revert to 5 atb as per the Forest game, and make ourselves hard to beat. Defence should be up for it after solid performances all round against Newcastle.

Likewise up top we can hope that some added confidence translates into additional ruthlessness up top as chances are likely to be few and far between.

Tottenham haven't looked anywhere near as bad as their results but a good performance here should keep confidence high for some winnable games at home. A draw would be lovely.

I think Mfuni won't start and maybe Torp or Hamer come in that midfield to tighten up possession. We can not give them too much of the ball.

Rushworth
Mfuni, Thomas, Pinnock
MVE, Yirenkyi, Grimes, Dasilva
Tats, Awoniyi, Rudoni

no way am I taking Asante out the team, especially away from home

Agree with this 100%

really wouldnt change the squad we started against newcastle, regardless of Awoniyi being available.

Think we have to look at going back to the 3-4-3 / 3-4-2-1 for this one.

Rushworth
Mfuni - Thomas - Pinnock
MVE - Onyeka - Grimes - Dasilva
Rudoni - Awoniyi - Gboho

Very hard to call these games as we’re basically hoping the opposition miss a hatful of chances to get anything from game. Having said that I think we can definitely cause them problems the other end of the pitch.

Why is everyone starting Awoniyi

Cherif scored and won the pen

You can’t drop him for a guy who has been suspended for a moment of madness for 3 games.

You can, and Lampard has done in the past.

Whilst we are all very encouraged by Cherif's game the other night, he didn't hold the ball up particularly well or win many (if any) headers. There were periods of the first half, where we just couldn't get hold of the ball and it was hoofed clear and it kept coming back. A better team than Newcastle will punish that.

It'll be harsh on a Cherif, but it's a squad game as Lampard says and the squad needs to be used appropraitely. Awoniyi will be more of a handful for Van Hecke & Senesi, in the type of game it's expected to be.

Annoying thing is they’ve got around 50 hours rest on us. Fully expect Spurs to turn a corner and get going sooner or later, hopefully it doesn’t begin until after.

Hopefully Cherif gets the start.

I think I'd go with something v similar. Maybe a 5 man midfield with Torp or Hamer for Tats. Including Onyeki would be just too defensive.

Cherif can count himself unlucky - scored a goal, made a penalty out of not very much and one glaring miss. Him or Awoniyi is six of one half a dozen of the other.

They are flying off to a mid week training camp in Marbella apparently! Swanky bastards.

I think some of that was down to how we used the ball once we won it back. Lampard referred to it in one of his post match interviews I think.

Aim to frustrate. Confidence is very fragile at Spurs at the moment. Crowd will be on them if we can get to the break all-square.

Maddison can have a warm reception - so long as he promises not to score against us

TSx

think it'll be a 3 at the back as this seems to be our new away system.

Big T is likely to come in up front if only for his superior ability to hold the balls up which we will need.

I'd give 60 mins to either of them and then let the other one come on regardless, i'd go 3/5 atb though

They both need mins still, Cheriff was fucked by 70 mins Monday
