Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (112 Viewers)

People just see that we were competitive against a 'big' club away from home.

Spurs were shit today and there for the taking.

Individual errors and lack of quality cost us, doesn't help the taste when we left £30 million of summer signings at home and were playing our championship wingers and bringing KKH on to play right wing no matter how justified it is for Lampard to make his point.
Aren't you the fella who said Lampard would have been upset with the signing of Mfuni?

Think there is a bit of discipline problem! Ghboho giving it large to FL and sulking and Tachouna went to Pars fashion show and was late back for training. FL doesn't take shit.
Where was it said about fashion show and being late for training?

Some interesting reactions on here tonight. Theres probably going to be another 20 games like tonight before the end of the season, its not worth getting worked up over.

I thought they just edged it but we did well enough and could have grabbed a draw.

Not rushworths best moment for the third and some question around personnel and subs but hey it happens. Some winnable games coming up and theres enough to think we can get a couple more wins in the next few weeks.

Not sure why torp didnt get on for grimes
Grimes doesn't look like a Prem player to me. Of our Championship players I'd say Rudoni and Thomas are clearly at the level. I'd actually put Dasilva and BTA in the 'not sure long term but done surprisingly well so far' category. I remain to be convinced by any of the others.

Lampard said it was a good performance. 3rd goal was a mistake. Keeping players grounded.

Spurs will probably lift off at some point, they won’t have a brilliant season though. Despite my opinion on a few individuals and with better subs, we take a point. No doubt.

Fuck off. You weren’t saying that last season
But people were questioning the money Brighton were asking for him. I’m not writing him off but he has had a poor start to the season and has looked hesitant.

Wouldn’t disagree - although this long throw arguably remains our most potent set piece weapon this season - on that basis alone, I can’t see Frank dropping him.
KKH has a long throw. I know we scored from one last week, but in the 2nd half of last season we only scored 1 from a long throw so it is not really a tactic that works much seeing how many we have.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything tonight. 3 wins in a row at PL level is very difficult. 1998 was the last time we did it. So final couple of years prior to 2001 we couldn't manage it and that was with some really good players

Think I’m right in saying only Arsenal Man Cuty and Brighton have managed it this season so far.

BTA was decent tonight; high pressing and was an outlet - won loads of fouls.

He is frustrating at times and we know technically he’s not Premier League level, but he’s far from our biggest issue.
BTA 100% effort, energy and commitment. 25% effectiveness (including
in Rudi's goal) and terrible decision making. Brilliant sub and lovely bloke. But why with our squad is he being consistently played? Just asking.

Maddison probably beats every keeper with his. I don’r think Rushworth really anticipated the other two shots though which is a bit poor.

Been banging that drum since before the first game. Clearly our best pairing.
It looks quite obvious to me but then I'm just a bloke on the internet so who knows. Called a few things in the past, had a couple of clangers too.

Hamer should be an option for 10 minutes if we’re in an injury crisis. No surprise we’ve done better when he hasn’t touched the pitch.

Competitive, but ultimately not quite enough in the end. It seems there are a few players struggling at this level. MvE, and Rushworth the two stand out ones today, but Grimes also seemed lost.

We can stay up but we need to manage the squad well. I've seen nothing to suggest Tchaouna is what we need, but Gboho has a decent record in France and should make us better. Frank looked decent when he came on, and the centre backs look up to it. We have something here in places. Onto the next!

Thought we were decent. MVE and Grimes are killing us though and the form of MVE in particular is very worrying. Rushworth is just having a wobble but will come back stronger. We're competing though.

Thought our fans were quiet tonight. Just saying. Expected a bit more.
Many spent far too much energy calling maddison a c**t , theb cried when he scored and took the piss out of them by kissing the badge .

You get tired when you cry

I thought that's a flying elbow...dangerous play.
Not all fouls are intentional but even the accidental ones are fouls. Free kick to us.
We lost a player for 3 matches for very similar
