Match Thread Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City (A) - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium - Mon 19th October (8pm KO) (36 Viewers)

We were lucky enough to get tickets in the ballot for this one. Really looking forward to it, and seeing the new stadium. Being lucky couldn’t have come at a better time with our two wins. Confidence and team spirit should be high and if we can do well early, their fans will get on their backs and that will hopefully help us. It’ll be tough but I think we can get at least a point from the game.

Scoring 1st would be a bonus. I read somewhere that they hadn't come from behind to win the last 48 times they have gone behind in a game 😁
Yup and that together with this lot means we've got to score first!

'They are still yet to lead in a league match this season or score a goal before the 86th minute.

One thing they still cannot count on is home comforts. They have managed a paltry five wins in their past 36 league matches at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, dating back to November 2024.'

Moreover, they have fallen behind in a remarkable 52 of their 79 home league games since the start of 2022-23

Just read the Tottenham team has been on a team bonding trip to Marbella in the week.
We could have done with a mass team falling out and them visiting a few dodgy seafood restaurants.

My boss is a spurs season ticket holder and i have won tickets from him to go into the hospitality for this one. I am really looking forward to it, he says if we get to half time 0-0 then their fans will turn on them

Was thinking exactly this. Not really our style I know, but I think we should deploy as many of the dark arts as we can get away with and frustrate them. Such a shame they've changed the keeper rules, but plenty of other ways we can hopefully waste a little time and help make it toxic.

With Spurs defence would prefer the 'light' arts of attacking skillful football. Spurs have had terrible defences for 40 years.
As you say, not our style dark arts, we are rubbish at it and just winds opposition up gives them confidence, motivation, possession and territory and can easily backfire against a team with plenty of skill.

I'm not sure we can match them for skill and unlikely to have possession. I'd prefer your way, but I think if we can frustrate them early, get the fans nervous and not with the team then push on and try to score and then frustrate the hell out of them again. Hopefully Frank has a bit more detailed analysis to give the players than me :)

Hull aside I don’t think there’s a single game we’ll win the possession stat this season. Which is okay, as long as we win the important stat. And it’s not xG for the xG lovers.

Law of averages suggest Spurs are due a win. They haven't played badly at all and although we beat Newcastle, we did concede a few chances. Be happy to come away with a draw here.
Play 5 at the back and play the typical counter attacking away team style. Would love to see Sheriff start again up top and try Onyeka and Yirenkyi in the middle but highly doubt he will put Grimes on the bench.

Knowing our luck, one of their centre backs will score a worldie from 40 yards.......

Predicted line up for Spurs is Kinsky, Gray, Van Hecke, Van De Ven, Udogie, Fernandes, Tonali, Kudus, Gallagher, Marmoush, Solanke. How many of those get in our starting 11? Maybe all bar Rushworth? On current form Dasilva over Udogie possibly.

Obviously a huge long shot (prepared for laughing emojis) but anyone got a spare / unused ticket? happy to pay over the odds and I live in London so easy exchange etc
I don't but I'll be on on a coach so if anyone else drops out last minute, then as you're already there I can let them know and put you in touch rather than be wasted.

Bobby T and Taiwo would get in theirs, imo

Their problem hasn't been the players they keep buying. They don't buy a team that complements each other.

They have athletes in midfield but their defenders lack pace. This bodes well for our counter attacks. Just 3 goals so far.

It feels like the Newcastle game. Don't think we will win but we could score goals with our pace and are playing a side with a dodgy defence.

Not sure, think I'd take Solanke in a straight swap with Taiwo (Cherif might yet have a higher ceiling), but agree with Bobby over Van Hecke. I think Rudi gets in too, not sure who for, but would definitely add to that team.

Not particularly confident for this one but there’s also no pressure on us and that can play into our hands if we ride the storm out. The ball will need to stick up top which we definitely need to improve on

Tough game you keep expecting them to stop the rot and actually win a game but they just keep on being shit !

Think they will be too much tonight, they have been poor this season, but they played really well v Man Utd. Think they will end up comfortable winners, 3-0 to them. 1-0 at HT then two more late goals to seal it.

Yeah like every game this season I’m going in expecting to lose. They’re better than their league position and at home and will win eventually and three back to back wins at this level is a big ask. As always as long as we put in a good showing I’ll be happy. Definitely winnable if both teams play how they can, but worry like Brighton at home people are starting to see it as a banker cos they’ve had a bad start.
