Ipswich only won 4 games when they were last promoted.

They got pretty lucky to come straight back up automatically imo. Most seasons their performance wouldn’t have got second and they benefitted from a lot of dodgy decisions too,

Yep, only Ipswich came straight back up last season, the season season before Sheffield United missed out and look at them now.

To be fair, of the 3 teams that went down the year before Leicester were a basket case and Southampton would have probably won the play offs if it wasn't for the spying.

Sheffield united blew a play off final, went weird and got in to AI scouting and were also taken over by a bunch of people it seems didn't actually have the money they said.

Luton went down as well but they really didn't strengthen as they wanted the money for a stadium. There will be expceptions but mostly the relegated team go back up.

We might just have to settle for two bites of the apple. More often than not, clubs who stay up need a few goes at it.

Ipswich? If they don’t stay up, they’re fucked.

I suppose you had Brentford, BHA, Forest and (arguably) Sunderland who stayed up at the first time of asking way back when.



He won a few of those by just bodying the Hull player around him, he was surprisingly good defensively.

It’s more like 60/40 towards first time survival to establish yourself in the league.

As above both Oneyka and Caleb can play as a 6.

Assuming nothing mental happens, window is probably a 6/10 for me. Couple of really exciting signings (Amenda/Yirenkyi), couple of logical ones (Pinnock/Hamer/Awoniyi) and a few wildcards who could take it to an 8/10 or down to a 4/10 depending on how they pan out (Mfuni/Cherif).

Excited to see how we setup vs Man City at the weekend, more important than anything happening today for me - if Frank rocks up and sets us up 4-3-3 then I’ll start moving closer to some of the other headloss on here.

It would be hilarious and very us after all the bitching for us to go out and get a shock point/win at the weekend mind.

I reckon Yirenkyi is going to show us hes something really special in that 6/8 role. Then we have Frank, Hamer and Grimes all who can, if needed, play minutes as the 6 or 8 around Yirenkyi.
My guess is we've picked up Yirenkyi instead of experience, on a bit of a gamble, but likely with doug's business head on due to onward sale value.
