We also don't know how much of a risk the others are taking.

I have no issue with what we've spent, though I have some reservations on how canny we've been.

We have clearly decide JDS is capable and to be fair to him he has been so far, so the LB would have been a back up and what do people think back up LBs are like?
LW I would have liked but again that would only be for cover
CM, sorry but the hill I will die on is you have to give Grimes more than 2 games, Onyeka has 75+ games at this level and Caleb is a talent admired by the very best.

We have done the best we can, it'll be hard to stay up it will be for Ipswich and Hull.

Depth at LB and LW is a concern. If Dasilva and EMC can be fit all season (huge ask for EMC) it’s less of a concern. Lack of quality at CM is a worry.

What risk? I don’t get this argument. It’s very very rare for clubs in the PL to “overspend” with any real consequences without some serious mismanagement elsewhere. If you’re not buying total shit then sales and parachutes protect you from all but the worst purchases. Feels like a cop out when people want to defend underspending. Some of it also maybe the idea overspending was what got us in trouble after relegation last time but again not really comparable and lots of other issues like the demise of ITV digital that contributed there. I don’t think Hull or Ipswich are going to have any issues if they go down this year. And I think both will be much better equipped to go straight back up whereas we might well be stuck with mostly a midtable Championship side.

Midtable Championship side? The team that won the title last season with 95 points? Good grief you've completely lost it. Take a break.

The need for a left winger assumes that we'll continue to play the 4-3-3ish formation, some of the other signings suggest otherwise.

I'm not really sure you can realistically make any case for signing another central midfielder when you've already got six on the books including your recent record signing.

Left back or left wing back is still looking a bit lacking in cover though, but it's hard to sign players of the right standard who are happy to be cover when it's clear JDS is first choice.

Overall, not too bad. Much more to come from the new signings as well as some existing players as they adapt to a higher level. The hysterics on here mostly from people who clearly have no recall of the premier league campaigns of the past and are just frightening to death.
 
Haha sadlittleman's hung up his boots!!!! There's way to much negativity in this fan base... we need to remember where we have come from and no1 expected us to spend £130mill... fans leaving at the end of the game on Saturday is a complete joke, players walking over to an empty singers corner!! Slowly our 13th man is fading away.. it won't be long until fans are calling for Lampards head!!!

By the looks of it our incomings for the transfer window are over, now if you said to me 2 years ago we would be Premier League and spent £120 million i would of thought you were off your nut...but we are and have and for that i am grateful.

Here's the but, I dont think we have bought the right players, yes we needed the squad strengthening and we have done that but in my opinion we are still so light going forward.

Wright - injured may not be fit until 2027
Simms - Like him at times but cant see him scoring goals in the Premier League [ If he stays]
BTA - Not good enough at this level
Rudoni - Maybe 5 goals
Sakamoto/Tchaouna - Cant see many from this area.
Mason Clarke - 5 if we are lucky and stays injury free
Awoniyi - Not prolific and why did Forest sell?
Sherif - Unknown quality as yet.

So i cannot see where goals are going to come from.

This is my opinion and I am just going to enjoy the season...

So we’re one hamstring pull away from an 18 yr old at LB, is that the way to look at it ?
 
A lot of negativity on here and a lot of blind positivity too. I hardly ever post on here but it seems to have gone ape shit over the past couple of weeks so I thought I’d stick my 50p in.

The sentiment of us being in League 2 not long ago are valid but at the same time insignificant to current day. The club has completely changed and whilst it was a big part of our history, we need to let it go now. We are a Premier League club by name and we needed to make a fist of it while we could. The signings we’ve made could be great/good/shite. Let’s face it, we’ve looked like scared little boys the last couple of weeks and that small sample size hasn’t shown us anything other than a lack of character.

It was never going to be easy, and it has shown. No one knows what goes on at the club anymore. People get small amounts of info and run with it. No one knows why we haven’t signed more players, why LB has a gaping hole in it, no one knows anything and as much as it pisses people off (myself included) we have to just get on with it and assume the decisions being made are the best for the club, sustainability and performance.

That being said, every fan has the right to feel and say what they want with how the club is being ran. We put our money, emotions, time and effort into the club, and we can criticise where we see fit. That’s not to say it’s right or wrong, but it’s our right as fans. We all love the club and all want the same thing. I’d say enjoy the season, but we all know that’ll be tough. Take it as it comes and who knows what happens. Couple wins on the board and we’ll be singing praises about the higher ups. Keep the faith and all that.
