Think the 25 man squad will look something like this at the end of the window.

That would be really disappointing to be honest.

That midfield is paper thin

Depends on the CM we bring in IMO, with it being a 25 man squad you’d have to make a sacrifice elsewhere to have another one, maybe one of the CB?

I'd sacrifice a CB and probably one of Asante or Simms.

It doesn't look good for Eccles and Markelo. We could do what Brighton have done with Rushworth for Markelo and get someone else to pay his wages until he's a saleable asset.

I imagine Andrew’s will stay around as he’s 19 so doesn’t count towards the 25. Will help fill the bench if needed, same for Perry.

Don't think that'll be to far away, then replace whoever goes

Ill be honest I only want Thomas + one other CB from last year.

I think thats where we really need to make movement.

Tomori + a younger higher potential CB to come in would be great.

I think Thomas will do well. I agree you won’t want Kitching or Lati playing too often but as 4th and 5th choice I don’t mind.

Isn't there a rule about having so many home grown players in the squad? But U21s dont count to the 25?

Yes we should be looking to get some good quality U21 too

Must have at least 8 home grown players I believe
So, assuming we get him, Rushworth, Thomas, Kitching, Grimes, Simms, DaSilva, Rudoni and probably Wilson or Woolfenden if he's still here? Perry and Andrews at a push but doubtful unless 19 /20 year olds are above the 25 limit

1)you have just said he's average and now it's terrible. Make your mind up

2) I never bragged we should sign him at all. I said it will be funny as I would be able to enjoy his success and others wouldn't. He doesn't stand out as a signing a premier team would make but maybe recruitment team see potential in him.

3)you are clearly trolling again so rather than block you and go back on it I'll just ignore you for tonight!

I don’t think this will happen though
Stansfield is rubbish. Nothing near what we need. Give me Haji, Simms and BTA any day.
As a Blues fan, I thought I'd have a look at what Cov fans are saying about Stansfield. For what it's worth, I don't think the move will happen. And if Coventry did spend £25m on him or there was some sort of swap deal with the right player and cash, Blues fans would be perfectly fine with that. Of course, we'd be disappointed to see him go, but as you know, he was far from outstanding last season, nowhere near it. However, he certainly wasn't terrible. In the right system, with the right players around him, I'm convinced he can be a top Championship player. Whether he's Premier League quality remains to be seen, but I doubt it. That said, we had an indifferent season and the majority of the squad underperformed. However, I think a lot of that came down to an inexperienced manager and some questionable recruitment, particularly last summer.

The reason Blues fans love him isn't because we think he's the second coming of Trevor Francis. It's because he's a good player who was front and centre of the club's new era. You should understand better than most what it's like to support a club that has been run into the ground by crooks, only for new owners to come in with ambition, a clear vision, and a determination to take the club forward. Whatever Cov fans might think, Blues are in a strong financial position, and Stansfield was our marquee signing. Yes, we paid over the odds, but he played a huge part in getting us out of League One.

He also works tirelessly, regardless of whether things are going his way or not. He's a bit of a shithouse too. Every club loves a player like that when he's on their side, even if opposition fans can't stand him.

So yes, most Blues fans would rather keep him. But, if the deal was right, we'd get over it very quickly. Moreover, it wouldn't make much difference whether he was sold to Cov or to anyone else (except Villa, Wolves or Albion maybe). Despite what you might think, our hatred for you is fairly non-existent, unlike your evident hatred for Blues.

Good analysis and insight thank you mate

However to say the Coventry Birmingham narrative is one sided on our end is absolutely bollocks

This makes him sound like the brummie Paul Mullin

Are you sureMick?
I think if I take my Cov goggles off, Stansfield would definitely have more interest in him and for more money than BTA and Simms, although to me he has huge 'he'll do well for you if you go down' vibes.
Probably not worth discussing much further as I think its bollocks. A decent link to discuss would be nice as would a couple of signings this week. Maybe some outgoings too.
His output isn't great, I'd assume Birmingham would want something like £15m + for him. I doubt there is really that much interest.

We paid £750k for Matt Godden to do the same job, though even in the Championship we realised you need better to go any further

OK, that's good to know. I'm basing it off some of the Cov fans I know (I was brought up closer to Cov than Birmingham and worked in Cov for over 15 years and so know a lot of Cov fans) and also what I've read here. It was a bit sweeping I know and for that I apologise.

Very reasoned. Like you not convinced Stansted would make it in premier league. He seems a workhorse who maximises the talent he has. I don’t think he is the right player for us but if Frank sees him as part of our squad then I will happily get behind him.
As for hating you…far from it as far as I’m concerned…the use of St Andrews in L1 should be recognised and i remember it with great fondness. And most of all you are not the Villa!

As much as we all have an opinion on Stansfield, there must be something that DA and Frank see in him and how they can work on his game to not only improve it but also turn him into top player! He definitely has the potential and maybe B’ham don’t use him the in the right positions?? Many have said, trust what Frank and his team do before judging him “if he comes”?

Finally some sense
Genuine question, where have DA and FL said that they are interested in Stansfield?

If we spent £25m on him I think I’d cry
If we spend that on Rushworth i'm starting to think Doug has Saudi princes' pulling his strings so it doesn't matter.

So basically what I said lol

Just heard from someone in the office at work who is a Birmingham City fan and says he has heard it from a senior official at Birmingham that the Stansfield rumour is true and its a potential swap deal with Simms

It will be Simms if there is anything in it. He has 1 year left and no sign of a new contract so unless we hear something about that soon we will be wanting something for him this summer.

Doubt it, probably money involved too, i didnt bother asking that just assumed it would involve a fee too

I would be amazed and horrified if we signed Stansfield. He really isn't that good. Seemed fine in L1, but hardly pulled up any trees in the Champ last season. Can't see FL even considering him.
