Great to see JJ back.

It'll be interesting to see how he fits in when he's fully fit. If we continue with 3 at the back then he'll have to either play up front or as a 10.

If we go back to 433 like we started the season then he can play wide right which I think is his best position.

But we're a little way off him starting anyway.

Hope Max and Baka start up front at the weekend.

Disappointed to lose as regardless of the status of the cup a trip to Wembley and the potential of more silverware would have been good for the club.

Pleasant surprise to see Jones back, but I’m fearful the expectations on him will be ridiculously high (or great), and he has to be allowed time to get to full fitness and find his form. Especially as he wasn’t convincing in L1 last time out, although I suspect he’ll fair better this time.

The Baka hate is ridiculous, he clearly isn’t going to be a prolific striker unfortunately, but he does have redeeming features, and as proved last night and when part of a 2, when he isn’t isolated he can add to the team through his link play. Him or Biamou alongside Godden (or a potential loanee) would work.

Williams seems to have a lot of attributes, as does Drysdale but I do worry about his lack of pace. Watson also looks good and I wouldn’t mind him becoming a permanent understudy for Dabo.

Hiwula, as always, displays fantastic movement, but his finishing has gone backwards. He needs a confidence boost big time.

I hope he reverts back to 3-5-2 Saturday, with either Allen and Kelly holding and O’Hare at 10, or a flat three of Allen, Kelly, Walsh.

It’s a shame we’re out, but there are positives to be taken from last night.

Yeah, this. I can only imagine that if he doesn't get a hat-trick within 3 games, some will be on his back.

Defo needs time...great to have him back. If he can get minutes here and there up to and over the festive period, he could be great in the run in.

The game petered out for City after O'Hare went off, thought Allen looked a useful aquisition though (didnt realise he was that small?) I would say baka was the best of the strikers on the night but should have at least got his header on target! right in front of us it was and you could see he was trying too hard to get some strength behide it which made him mistime it and it slid off his face and shoulder. Kastaneer! my word he looks like a player who does not want to be here!. Hiwuala needs a goal and fast as his confidence is well shot. Mind you he hit one last night and I thought their goalie pulled off a wordlie to stop it, So good to see JJ back as well i think it will be a series of 10/15 minute cameos from now until mid january to ease him back in. We had a lot of youngsters especially in defence who coped until their legs started to tire and MK scored

Have to disagree Tom
I was at the game
He was by far the most effective of the front three

Hiwula and Kasta were put clean through several times and either dithered or panicked each time
Baka held the ball up well and brought others into play
And would have scored with a lovely header but for a great save from MK's keeper

So was I and whilst what you say may be true, tbh that's like choosing your favourite facial wart. I thought as a three they were woeful. In fact when Biamou & Jones were on the side, one guy near me suggested he'd quite happily put the two on in place of all 3 and it was hard to disagree with that sentiment!

You can only use the players you have Rob
It was essentially a 2nd eleven last night against MK's first team
Btw did you notice that after Kasta was clean through and blasted it straight at the keeper some of our players were reluctant to give him the ball?
He seemed to be a bit more team minded in the 2nd half so I guess he was told some home truths at half time

I didn't tbh mate, although I was possibly tutting every time he was near it. His one shining light for me was soon after that miss, when he went marauding down the right by the touchline and won a corner. I thought a switch had gone on then, but perhaps a false dawn.

I can't believe people were giving Jobello stick early on this season, I think people now realise how effective he actually was. Pity it's taken him being injured for them to take notice.

As a team we simply don't score enough, but that's 5 times I think I've seen Wilson in goal this season. He doesn't fill me with any confidence (despite a couple of clean sheets against toothless Walsall & FGR attacks) so I think an injury to Marosi would kill us the most.

He did have a look up to see if he could square it to Bakayoko but the pass wasn't quite on, so the shot was the right decision. Placement could have been better though!

Also, the Kastaneer and Bakayoko hate on here is just ridiculous

Kastaneer looked very bright on occasions last night and had the beating of his full back. There is 100% a good player in there. Yes it's taken him a while to get up to speed but he's getting there slowly and I'm sure he'll have a part to play for us 2nd half of this season

Baka's link play was good again last night and his header back across the keeper was superb, denied by an equally superb save from the MK keeper

mid three: Westbrooke, Kelly, Allen
Front two; Godden (Baka) & Biamou

Look a striker in January, not the perennial calls for wingers. With 5-3-2 we don't need wingers so much, if at all.

If we don’t sign a winger, we’ll be limited to a variation of 3-5-2 all season (unless Jones completes a successful comeback. We have better striking options than wingers at this current time, hence the 3-5-2 so that’s where I would look to improve.

You’ve alluded to Kasteeners bad attitude and lack of team spirit a few times. Is he in a place now where he has isolated himself and has no allies i.e. friends?

Maverick players quite often stand apart from the group
There were signs last night in the second half that he might have started to listen to advice
Let's hope it continues

You like anyone else has a right to their opinion as that makes football such a talking point. However (you knew it was coming) can’t agree with you regarding bakayoko and kastaneer. Privately I’d have a bet that robins and vivash have decided that they won’t be long term (end of the season at best) kastaneer doesn’t look like he wants to be here and your not going to win many matches with bakayoko in your side.

I know kastaneer is on a three year contract but if he finds himself a club back home he’ll be gone.

Just had a look at the sides left in the Northern section and other than fFeetwood, Leicester U23s and Man City U23s are probably the strongest teams left in that half - possibility that one of those two could make it to wembley. Would that be the death knell for the competition?

Shame 2 can’t make it - it’s the dumbest format for a competition

Haha, yes I did know this was coming.

If I was a betting man I'd say Bakayoko won't be here next year. Kastaneer more likely to be around due to the length of contract and the fact he still has over half a season left to change fans and MR's opinions - though equally I can understand fans frustrations to date

Doesn't mean to say they both can't contribute between now and the end of the season, both have good attributes and will have parts to play IMO
