Used to do it several times a year, basically every time they ran a session near me which I think was every 4 months.just out of interested, would love to know how many people on here do it regularly?
started late when i was around 25 (was scared of needles etcetc) now feel as though i want to give as reg as i can (3-4 times a year) to make up for the lost years!

But they stopped running sessions near where I lived at the time so that was the end of that.
Did look when I first moved here and the only ones near me were office hours only which seems odd if you want to maximise donors. My Dad used to give regularly and they'd turn up to his work and everyone that wanted to could donate while at work which I've never known to happen anywhere I work.
I'm not allowed as I had a transfusion due to a blood disorder pre 1990, but my dad donates regularly as a resultjust out of interested, would love to know how many people on here do it regularly?

You have to register an account on a fairly clunky blood donation website, which is separate to any login you already have for the NHS. You can then book an appointment either through the website or via an app, again a separate app to the NHS one.I was about to ask this.
Do you have to go to the doctors / hospital at a certain time to be able to do it?
It's something I've often thought about but never actually done or got round to doing.
website is better than it used to be, much smoother now.I was about to ask this.

friend of mine did it last year, went really smoothly he said, a free night or two in a hotel!Next donation at the end of August, donation number 18! Usually have it done at the community centre on Jubilee Crescent. Or anywhere else that’ll do a Saturday.
Maybe one day will give platelets. I think the nearest is Birmingham or Leicester which makes it tricky.
I know I’m on the bone marrow register, but I’ve gotta be honest I think I’d bottle it.

Do you get more CCFC priority points for that?I’ve given as regularly as possible since I was 21. Think I’m on 18 donations now
yup! think you get more donation points too!Was that for the marrow?
And me and willing donor if I die if anyone asksNever given blood but I’m on the blood stem cell database with DKMS and got matched with someone a few years back to extract marrow. Ended up finding a better match so it never went ahead but it was an interesting experience.
I used to give blood when i worked at Jaguar Cars had half hour as well. Had to give up when i developed Type 2 diabetes.I started giving blood when I worked for British Leyland, at the old Morris Engines factory. They used to turn up in a big custom made vehicle, and you got ½ an hour away from your work station. Started donating around 1973, but after my first heart attack and double bypass, I was informed I could no longer donate. I also did a story promoting blood donation when at BBC CWR. I still have that tape!
