General Election 2019 thread

Johnson has now refused to be interviewed by Julie Ethchingham. Or should that be told to stay off the Tele by party seniors?
 
More anti Semitic claims against labour I see.
What a nasty racist bunch they are especially Momentum.
Don’t know how people can vote for them.

Theresa May unveiled a statue of an anti-Semitic Nazi supporter last week. Johnson wrote a book with a Jewish character full of anti-Semitic tropes. Rees-Mogg invoked the anti-Semitic conspiracy theory about George Soros. The Tories have had two GE candidates removed over antisemitism, twice the amount Labour have. Polling of party supporters showed fewer Labour supporters agreed with given anti-Semitic statements than the Tories, UKIP and Leave supporters.

Don’t pretend to give a shit about prejudice and shill for the Tories.
 
Hey, I'll give Farage a go v Neil. FWIW I reckon he's the kind of personality who would cope best with this type of interview.

He's keeping his cool, and he's getting in what he wants to say. He's also keeping Neil quiet more than some of the others have.

What he is showing is he's good at believing whatever this week's policy is! And yes by that I agree, he's doing better than most.

That’s his gig though isn’t it. I’m surprised he isn’t being more vocal but I guess his affiliation the Tories is affecting things.

Has Andrew Neil got a small wig on top or has he had some bits of cotton actually sewn in ? I tend to think it's sewn in .

Yes you're right. It hasn't quite got the texture nor colour right . Looks like a blow torch has been applied for a split second and it's gone crinkled. That, or it's from his bollocks.

These threads are pretty pointless at the end of the day, same as the EU thread. People with already entrenched allegiances just square up.

Has anybody read anything in here that has changed their minds?

I thought Neil let Farage off a bit. Although it may be that he sees him for what he is, in the sense that he is more a political agitator than anytimg else. Although he did allow him th hang himself with his so called immigration policy. At least the bloke turned up and answered the questions.

I wondered why the interview finished 5 minutes early - and then the best piece of journalism of the election followed. Johnson being shown up for the charlatan that he is. Perhaps he may come on to answer the questions- nah, too busy getting Brexit done.

Said during it that Farage has the perfect demeanour for this kind of interview. He’s always combative himself so ends up squaring up but not coming across as angry or aggressive, because he’s always angry and aggressive. If that makes sense.

Bit at the end was great, though now if he does do it surely he’s got to write a load of new questions? :p

Hahah yes, but in the context of the dross that's come before Andrew Neil in the last week or so , this was , at last, someone who seemed to be able to actually have some answers and wasn't at all intimidated.
 
Farage was probably the most composed of them all, although he did get shown up a bit on the immigration figures. Still not convinced by his strategy on seats to contest and pull out of.

Shame fewer people will probably watch that one for the Johnson monologue at the end (although those watching it are more likely to side with the right so maybe will have reached the target audience)
 
All it takes are votes moving from Labour to the Brexit Party to change the political landscape.

Put the blame on whoever campaigned and voted in favour of a 2nd referendum at the previous Labour conference.

It's not a protest vote anymore. It will bring changes to Parliament if enough move.

Been saying for a while now, seats in Labour Midland and North heartlands are up for grabs and it's not necessarily down to Corbyn.

I'd say it's not getting a referendum nailed down before dissolving parliament. There were opportunities for consensus, but they weren't taken.

on another note hate crime up 28% in the West Midlands. Can’t imagine how that’s happened.
