If we hadn’t gone to Northampton Dave Mapp would still be here he was very good especially at the away games
Yep… he had a decent relationship with the lads

think i might get a few pelters for this but here goes.....

My kids are 12 and 7, and witnessed the trouble (were in block 22). Other than questions about why its happening, they both seemed fine

And not being braindead, I decided to leave at 85 minutes, and head away the back way, behind the north stand to avoid the kids seeing any sort of issue. Granted not everyone can do that, but doesn't it just take some common sense from parents?

It was kicking off inside, was deffo going too outside, so surely you plan for that and for example do as I did and not go near it?

Not pelters and what you did was sensible.

But why should you plan to leave early because of mindless twats? How many goals we scored late on this season? Being a Cov fan, how many games have we thrown away from 85 mins on (maybe a reason to leave TBF).

My point being that whilst that's sensible, it shouldn't get to the point where families are having to leave 5 mins early to avoid the trouble. There should be NO trouble so it's safe for families to go. Whilst your kids were admirably fine with it, many others wouldn't be.

Bleak reading, some parts of this thread. The last thing we need is pissed-up/coked-up dickheads being egged on or justified by our own supporters.

Let's be clear here, the people involved in this shouldn't be encouraged in any way. They're just wrecking the day for the rest of us who want to watch the game, maybe take our kids, or maybe have a few beers with our mates without any bother.

If you genuinely want a 'knock', with someone else who wants a knock (to use their terminology), try boxing.

In the ring there's no 'civilians' to punch by mistake, no kids to frighten, no one who's not 'up for it'. But there's also no beer or coke to give you bottle, no mates to swing the odds in your favour, nowhere to run, and no coppers or stewards to hide behind if it ain't going your way (what, you think we hadn't noticed?). Just you, and another bloke of roughly your size.

Anyone who does that gets my total respect, win or lose. Anyone else who needs six pints, ten mates, and/or a nose full of coke to find a scrap, is a bit of an arsehole, frankly, and needs weeding out of the game.

In DOD’s case there are 3 code phrases

‘chatting whiff’
‘Tracksuit Tom’
‘Grenners’

He’s now developing a crayola obsession. Perhaps he’s teaming up with Ring of Playdough to host children’s parties

Well if you have heard that so have the old bill.

Not being funny - this is like the 'Mansfield and Forest are going to team tag and give us a pummelling in the Notts County away leg. Every man and his wife had heard about it. Nothing happened. How can anyone know that hundreds/thousands are going to turn up without tickets is beyond me. The so called 'leaders' don't have such a local network that they can encourage loads to do this - i.e. tickets in the home areas. Would more likely happen if it was a 'vital' game, and more Blues fans would be likely to make a day of it if it weren't a night match. Oh, and it's on Sky too. Might kick off, but not an 'invasion' in any organised manner. Our 7k ish to MK was never organised,

Brilliant post
After we walked through the drunken Derby idiots confronting the few police who were initially on the scene we came to a group of young Coventry herberts coming from the other direction who were sizing up whether to take them on or not
Naturally we didn't hang about to see the outcome but as Duffer says virtually all football hooligans like the odds overwhelmingly in their favour before they get involved

Derby were the instigators on Saturday but I've seen a good bit of bad behaviour from our own piss/coke heads at away games too

I've seen one video taken from midway down the side where (and I know it's a kneejerk reaction) the fans in the foreground jump up cheering when the City fan kicks the Derby fan. if you're not affected by being in the immediate vicinity, then it can be an understandable form of 'entertainment' when the trouble is one lad etc, but if it escalates it becomes unsettling (particularly if you've got kids with you). The idea that nobody was cheering, egging him on is nonsense.

arrived massively early on Saturday as was meeting people with spare tickets for them. Usually drive but it was a beer day so got an Uber with my brother. Decided to go in the casino about 1:30pm and it had just kicked off outside with one Derby lad moaning to a copper he’d just been slapped. It was clear from walking round the ground there were plenty of Derby young lads looking for bother, all with cans in hands etc. Said to my brother at this point it seemed a bit hostile around and wouldn’t be surprised if it kicked off today. Left the casino and waiting outside to be greeted by some Derby nob singing Coventry‘s a shithole, now, forgive me if I sound unreasonable but if I was doing that at another ground I’d expect a slap or two, its common sense. looking at the videos circulating on social media the average age of the dickheads, especially outside the cherry tree must of been about 17. This was in no way organised or planned, if it was, the wheatsheaf would of been targeted and if it had, I envisage a very messy situation for many of our friends from the East Midlands. I don’t think it’s clever, lets face it you end up with prison or banning orders. As for the cherry tree incident, if I had been in there with my kids enjoying family weekend time and dickheads started throwing bottles over, would I want to go out and try and stop it? Abdofuckinglutely, this isn’t football violence, it’s protecting your loved ones.

Nah nah, 6000 ticketless fans will turn up for a midweek Sky game at the end of Novermber. Just accept it

Yep, as mentioned at the time the Sky Blues Extra lot were singing similar, think it may have been "Dirty Northern Bastards" when outnumbered by probably 1,000 to 1 at Barnsley and took a slapping for it. Obviously would rather a day at the football went without any violence but I felt absolutely zero sympathy for them despite obviously supporting the same side as them.

I actually met the lad who made this video in the Castle Grounds on Friday night. He was staying over in Cov on the Friday on the lash. We had a good chat, he was sound tbf and told me to check out his channel.

Haha I was only joking, I'd imagine the vast majority of Derby fans are sound!

They will be, trouble is the knob heads involved in the trouble and stand offs will exaggerate the problems resulting in some unfortunate Cov fan totally innocent possibly getting slapped at Derby.
That’s why I hope the cops identify as many involved as possible inside & outside the ground both Cov & Derby and lock them up, only deterrent I’m afraid.
