kind of looks more likely that this is the second wave, bearing in mind we know it was in Europe in November last year

Said this for weeks. Got laughed at on here, and by work colleagues, friends etc. Its actually glaringly obvious and you don't need a degree in medicine its common sense.

Its proven to have been in Europe as early as November. We had a flu season resulting in 8 times higher hospital admissions and deaths. 4 times more deaths from pneumonia from November.

The amount of people, (even a smallish sample for example on here )who had symptoms from December onwards but as it wasn't mainstream or named, just cracked on with a really bad cold ( all we would have known it as).

The fact that this fucker was spreading at almost 100,000 a day a few months back, but is now only recording 20 odd new cases a day in a city the size of London, which shows there must be MASSIVE immunity.

Even the vaccine makers from Oxford uni are saying they think this will.disappear before they can even complete the human trials.

This is more than likely the dreaded 'second wave'. Unfortunately it mutated from what everyone was experiencing from November onwards and It ripped through everyone at speed, and unfortunately, for whatever reason, genetic, viral load, whatever, killed people or made them seriously ill.

But it's on its way out, the rest of the world is showing this. Not long now lads, keep smiling

that's simply not true.
I was one of the ones who agreed with you that I though it had been here earlier than everyone said, (I thought pre Christmas), but nothing has been proven yet no matter what me and you think.

We have 36,000 official deaths and in reality probably nearer 60,000. Far too early to be celebrating yet. I hope we are at the end of this but far too early to say just yet.

I'll always listen to common sense ahead of trained expertise. Who needs these namby pamby experts after all.

Take the piss as much as you want. But read up on whats happening round the world.

Lockdown or not, cold country, hot country the disease is doing the same all across the board, and burning itself out after 8 weeks.

But let the daily mail keep telling you the second you step outside you'll die

Which would be excellent news. All we wanted was a bit more evidence that this was the case.

Because we have made no effort to try and track the spread of the virus we have no idea if this is true or complete bollocks.

The evidence is coming in more and more by the day. Very encouraging it seems.

I'm just trying to be more upbeat. 700+ pages on this thread, 600+ of it is arguing, death, bad news.

The end seems to be on the horizon, a return to more normality sooner than we thought. Lets give it a go reading and discussing the good news for once shall we?

And before anyone starts im not saying 36k dead is good news.

but we've got a wave of Kawasaki disease in some countries (may be related, may not), we've got sufferers with a completely different set of symptoms to the next sufferer, we've got happy hypoxia, this fucker is making it's own rules.
Not discounting anything your saying, there are definitely signs for optimism, I just don't think we're out of the woods yet, or we should be complacent.

I don’t think I had unreasonable requests before reopening the schools and as yet we haven’t reached them. But you have to be honest, for the last few months there has been little positive to discuss. Plus this has been a stressful time for many and some, me included, just need a vent.

Just want back into a classroom to do my job properly!

I'm not sure the media can say much about people flouting lockdown. Did anybody see the media circus outside Cummings home, the press were literally climbing over each other to get their shot.

I’m sure Cummings didn’t mind. The rules don’t apply in his vicinity.

See the new instructions have been dispatched from Conservative HQ. Now its nobody should question Cummings actions as one of his kids has autism. Didn't realise he was the only person in the country to have a child who was autistic.

I tell you what, I give you lefties as much shit as I see appropriately possible. This however I think goes further than that.

We've all suffered for two odd months now and needed some leadership and support, especially with my own personal shit going on.

The fact the such senior members of the Tory party can do something like this, and then not even have the cheek to hold their hands up is fucking criminal.

What is the point on staying in lockdown and behaving when some think the law is above them? Yes, I think COVID is a load of shit for someone my age, but I've been respectful to protect people around me who may be more vulnerable.

Their behaviour makes me just want to do what the fuck I want. No defending it. Fucking cunts.

We are close to saying fuck it we’ll go to Greece if the flight is still going regardless of what the government is saying in mid July. We have worked ourselves silly trying to teach from a computer and they can piss off if they want to deny us a week somewhere else with barely any infection.

We’re going to Durham tomorrow for a day out. Apparently there’s a castle nearby that’s just lovely.

Right fuck the Cummins issue for one minute.

Im willing to put my neck on the line following all the scientific articles I've been reading recently

Coronas on the wane. Following the exact path of SARS in mutating a lot weaker and dying out. This so called second wave that the twitterati keep banging on about hasnt taken place anywhere. Basing that on a flu virus anyway, totally different animal to a coronavirus.

Can see us almost back to normal come end of June
Has anywhere in the world got such a high level of residual infection with no track and trace in place?

Will be 1 more week of it, with the virus now dying out and other countries having no second spike I think lots will be lifted from June 1st....thankfully the light is getting brighter at the end of the tunnel

still think pubs won’t be till July
Other countries do not have such a large residual infection rate.

Look, I had a sister who died him pneumonia in January having been ill from December. I spent a significant amount of time in ICU in Cov and then Glenfield (a specialist respiratory hospital in Leicester). There was zero evidence then of covid being here and their beds weren't even fully occupied. The nurses said it had actually been quieter than usual for winter.

Hopefully, you're right and it has or will mutate to a milder form but I think it's an utter nonsense to suggest it was here earlier than the first reported case.

The frightening thing about all of this is how many people genuinely think it’s ok to do whatever they want because someone else did it. It’s like the population all suddenly turned into 5 year olds. If you genuinely believe he was wrong and reckless ( I do ) then grow the fuck up and be better

Is it not just people saying that to make a (perfectly valid) point though? The risk is still there so nobody is actually popping round their nans for a snog because some bald tramp fucked up and got covered for.

Divs aside of course.

Interestingly the anger that people seem to be feeling is in regards to the first case and it doesn't matter if the government try to.ignore any other accusations
