Look at the Tories getting back in,same again, leftie knobheads screaming and shouting that it's not fair blah blah. Look at your yank leftie mates when trump got in. Fuck me what a load of spoiled babies you are. Some middle class leftie was in London protesting saying she hoped boris Johnson would die a nasty death. Ironically she wanted to be a doctor. Oh the irony. Its called democracy. Things dont always go your way so grow the fuck up and accept it. Ironically you preach democracy but then we have a democratic vote and it goes against you cry like the spoilt brats that you are. Who is it that's always out on the streets protesting and spewing their undemocratic views? Oh yes leftie wankers. You dont see normal working class middle of the road people kicking off. You don't really see right wingers kicking off either. Its you fucking lot. The country sits back pissing its pants laughing at you fools. 938 deaths, bloody hell

Italy's highest daily count was 919, Spain's was 961.

France had a few days over 1000 but they included deaths outside of hospital, which ours don't.

We've absolutely fucked it. This is awful. Two week headstart and we're in this position. Dom and Grendel can defend the government's early response all they like, but the government has blood on their hands.

Didn’t you imply that someone who once voted UKIP was a racist earlier today?

I thought we had started recording deaths out side of hospitals?
I'm fairly sure that according to the ONS that started last week. Could be wrong

Daily reports are in hospital deaths only:

“of those hospitalised in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus”

pretty sure I saw a study where the figures are 80% understated because they use NHS and not ONS. It’s definitely worse than what we see.

Yeah the FT had a piece. I posted the ONS stats up earlier most recent is about ten days ago I think.

As I said to Steve half the problem is we can’t agree on what we’re counting. Is the 20k excess deaths or Covid directly?

Yes. Doesn't matter though, the numbers have got to match up. Imagine what the daily figures are going to be this time next week, it's going to be horrific.

We're posting higher numbers than Italy have at any point. Good job we sat around and did nothing with our two week headstart.

It’s known that deaths in Italy are hugely understated as I’ve said

There are huge discrepancies between year on year deaths double in some regions versus reported deaths by the disease

The uk do report deaths such as Eddie Large as a Coronavirus death whereas other countries would not as he’d been admitted with a condition and eould not have been tested

France admit the deaths in care homes are estimates and far worse - uk has 13 die in 1 home today which was not recorded

Spain are trying to record deaths where patients showed symptoms

Not sure what other countries have to do with it, this isn’t the place for your “Johnny Foreigner isn’t as great as us Brits” bit I’m afraid.

He’s talking about a comparison between NHS and ONS figures, NHS figures which they admit aren’t the whole story or properly time correlated. Those are two British institutions.

I’ve said people in care homes in the you have t been reported - I have seen nothing that suggests it’s 80% under called have you? And the point regarding other countries is that when PVA makes comparisons to other countries he is doing it off a different measuring criteria and therefore can’t be used for analysis

Yes but so does the UK.

Every country does I'd imagine.

So all we can go on is the official figures, which do not make for pretty reading.

It really hurts to say this but grendel is tight. As countries report their death counts differently it is silly to.compard them as you ste not comparing the same things.

Yes, I posted it last night, then posted the source data earlier today.

The post you quoted was talking about that comparison. Again British ONS (which is more accurate but delayed) and British NHS (which comes with several caveats).

If you haven’t read up on it then fair enough, but maybe don’t wade into conversations you don’t understand.

Scary to hear today that a 36 year old bus driver in was in hospital with the virus, improved and was discharged, but then died at home after a very rapid decline.

How are we ever going to know if someone has properly recovered?

Im guessing they will be added in to the overall total as the process goes on (after post mortem tests are carried out) but not to a/the daily totals

I’ve also ready about how patients can start to feel better and then deteriorate rapidly. Scary

No that’s not the case - Spain have a different measure as do Germany and Italy - it’s why we should never produce these graphs as people like you get frightened and fail to see data differences. Some towns in Italy have had a 900% YOY increase but most never went up hospital - our containment strategy helped mitigate that

it will be at least a year before comparisons can be made

Just to remind everyone again (as I know ROS will be disappointed if I didn’t !), that two week head start was at least partially built up by our own actions (very good initial trace and tracking, request for use of 111 and to self isolate). Agree, that if we have wasted that it will be extremely disappointing and there will be questions to answer

For those interested, an update on hospital admissions and critical care beds being occupied. Admissions are 19555 (an increase of around 500-600 I think). With regard to care beds they’ve changed the datasets for the graph, it’s now based on CC beds occupied by Covid patients, which is probably more useful but means we don’t know the total available capacity. There are currently 3084 CC beds occupied by Covid patients. That’s an increase of approx 90 on yesterday. Which suggests still well within capacity (which was over 2k yesterday). Let’s hope it can stay that way

Aye, but not where the capacity is. I.e. the national picture will include critical care beds in places relatively barely touched by it. I reckon in London and Brum it is probably pretty grim.
