i would hope so. compulsory buy back on relegationBuy back will surely be in the event we get relegated.
I didn’t think the headline £30m price tag was ever accurate. If it has incentives brought up it up to £30m, it’s not the end of the world.Seems a good deal at £22.5m
I expected we would end up paying around £20m for him, reports of £30m was walk away territory but in the end it's a pretty sensible price
Depends what the buy back is. If it’s £40m, that’s not ideal. Closer to £50m and it’s probably reasonable.Brighton have bent us over with the buy back but they had all the power in the negotiations. Delighted we’ve got him, massive signing.
They’ve just spent £45m on a 19 year old CBLet's be honest Brighton aren't gonna spend £40 million to buy back Rushworth I seriously doubt, it's not in there model to spend that much money on a single transfer never mind on a goalkeeper
Loan him out, hopefully be plays a blinder on loan. And then either sell him for a profit or becomes our number 1 if Rushworth leavesThe buyback isn't necessarily the worst thing in the world anyway. I wonder what the long term plan for Dovin is now? Perhaps he can be understudy / longer term successor?
He’s highly thought of within the England set up too apparentlyShows how much we think of him , weve relentlessly pursued him and im delighted we never gave up
He’s highly thought of within the England set up too apparently
No Buy Back!
48hours, for heavens sake get a bloody move on!Coventry City agree £22.5m deal to sign Carl Rushworth

Coventry City are on the verge of a club-record deal worth an initial £22.5m for Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
City manager Frank Lampard is close to signing a priority target following promotion to the Premier League with Rushworth expected to complete his return to the club later this week.
Rushworth emerged as one of Coventry’s most crucial players last season after signing on an initial loan, keeping 17 clean sheets from 46 matches.
It is understood Coventry will pay £22.5m, with extra contingencies and instalments taking the deal towards £30m.
Brighton have inserted a chunky sell-on clause and have also agreed a buy-back agreement for the 25-year-old.
Rushworth is scheduled to have a medical in the next 48 hours.
His move will eclipse the previous transfer record of £17m for Switzerland international Aurele Amenda, who joined the the Championship winners last week.
Coventry secured their return to the Premier League, for the first time since 2001, after winning the Championship title with 95 points.
Lampard was appointed in November 2024 and has revitalised the Midlands club, signing a new contract earlier this month.
The club’s owner Doug King has said he will back his manager who is targeting a number of other new additions.
Coventry begin their season back in the top division with a daunting trip to champions Arsenal on August 21.
Their first Premier League home match in 25 years will see them host fellow promoted club Hull City the following weekend.
Plus if we can sell on then Brighton will be looking at their cut rather than buying back. He’ll have to agree to it tho mate
If we dont go down, i dont see us selling any time soon. The sell on fees are pretty irrelevant I feel. And I reckon the buy back clause will only trigger if we get relegated tbf.Plus if we can sell on then Brighton will be looking at their cut rather than buying back.
It could be indefinite, time-limited, or activated upon relegation. Those details aren’t clear from what’s reportedI am sure it had been explained above somewhere but humour me, can someone explain to me how the buy back clause works, and what are the variables involved?
Usually there is an option for the selling club to buy back within a certain time period, or after a certain amount of time. Man Ciy did it with James Trafford. Essentially we would be powerless if they decided to activate it at the amount agreed.I am sure it had been explained above somewhere but humour me, can someone explain to me how the buy back clause works, and what are the variables involved?
Beaten to the signing by a team that’s not even the best side in Barcelona. SHFWFLike i said he would be between the Sticks for Espanyol - also it will be announced Thursday
Unless they make him signing an agreement to return part of the dealEnd of the day even with a buy back if the player doesn’t want to move back it doesn’t happen. Not overly worried about it.
