Yep that one. Obviously now there's no longer a running track as its been grassed over, but it was a good place to have a kickabout.

Used to do a paper round on Woodway Walk/Close. Also used to kick a ball around the playing fields off Woodway Lane just in front of the Black Pad. It certainly has an eery feel to it. What I just don't understand is how easily the suspects were able to drive from the Black Pad to Frankwell...

Coventry City v Luton Town - Championship playoff final - 27th May 2023 - Wembley Stadium

Its Luton have been utilising the 'massive pitch' theory so far, we look like we can't deal them whilst they're pinging diagonals all over

Transfer Rumour Apparently signing 2 players from Stevenage on free transfers

Luther Wildin played for Highfield Rangers in Leicester, a highly successful team in the MJPL. Was a late developer in that regard but has been very highly thought of.

Match Thread Coventry City vs Middlesbrough Play off Semi final 1st leg Match Thread -Sunday 14th May

One thing I noticed is that it looks like there is a real opportunity for Norton Cuffy to hurt Middlesborough and Giles down our right hand side. I think he showed promises of that today but if he can get to the byline more often and cut it back for Gyokeres or someone else in the box, then it...

    Summer recruitment

Chelsea's best youth prospects have all had a loan in the Championship and I suspect they will be looking to do the same for the up-and-coming crop. Soonsup Bell is a good shout, as are Lewis Hall (still only a first year scholar) and Harvey Vale.

That Maatsen header miss at the end may well have been the curtain drawer to our playoff push

    Set pieces

We don't have the height at both ends. Vik, Waghorn, and Godden (all injured/tired), Hyam and McFadzean are our only physical players - the rest are quicky and nimble which works fine against lower half opposition as a general rule when we can play it out from the back, but when it comes to...

    Points for Play offs

A win against Luton will put us right back in the mix. Whilst the teams around use have been keeping their points tallies up, teams that were gunning for the automatics like Blackburn and QPR are dropping back into the pack. Every team down to us has a realistic chance of getting in with a good...

    Points for Play offs

Pretty much all of the games went against our playof push tonight, although Blackburn losing pushes us a bit closer to them. At one point they were looking to get into the automatics, which shows just how quickly things move around at the top.

    January

Letting go of Walker on loan was a huge mistake...he wasn't great but offered something different, and we're currently relying on Gyokeres to deliver the goods since other attackers are not really chipping in, and Godden is out

    Match Thread Reading (away)

One thing about the Championship is that three points lifts a team pushing for the playoffs up a long way even after a bad spell of form. Trouble is Reading will be up for this as its their 150th anniversary game, not that they're already fighting for survival.

    Jordan Shipley

Can also be used at left back in a back four - he made his first start against Blackburn in he Carabao a few years back and didn't play too badly. Not to mention that he was then used at left wing in a 4-4-2 that season, with great success.

    Walker

Agreed with the caveat that this is if you want to be able to play two up top. which we do. Three good strikers would suffice for a team that plays one up top every game, which we don't.

    Hypothetically

No, wait until the end of the season. If they are worth that in January then, save for a shocking end of the season they would be worth that much or around that much by the end of the season. Gives us the chance to go for a full push for the playoffs and still being able to cash in at the end of...

    Early season thoughts about Championship

I believe the relative comfort with which we have started the season (aside from arguably 'easier' fixtures and our experience from last season) has a lot to do with the business model with which the club has been operating. Lots of clubs have been ravaged by the pandemic yet we seem to have...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That 10k/year is heavily skewed by graduates of 'elite' unis as well that the bulk of 16-64 year old graduates went when it was more selective. Its still the case that graduates earn a premium on average but the premium starts to really tail off the further down the league tables list we...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That would be true if it were the case that going to any uni at all provided the ticket to higher/earnings/a better life than parents etc, which unfortunately it no longer automatically does when over 50% are attending. I think there was a report a few years ago that found that from a pure...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Definitely. Well I think it all starts in the school system and the amount of funding people get. Those who go to state schools get around 5k a year. Until they receive a level of funding closer to the minimum 12k or so that private schoolers get, they won't be able to possibly compete.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Honestly think that the best solution would be to limit intake to say the top 25% of school leavers/mature students academically. Then use the money saved to really support those in state education, be it vocational or those aiming for uni. At the moment we've got over 130 unis in the UK when...
