CCFC/Ipswich/Hull summer recruitment thread. (4 Viewers)

Wasn't sure where to put but as its Hull vs Ipswich this thread made sense. Watch the Hull goal to make it 1-1, I think it might be some of the worst defending you'll ever see at this level. Bizarre 😂

Truly like a FIFA glitch. Imagine not trying to close down and cut the shooting angle off. Crazy.

You'd find better defensive instinct in Sunday League. And yeh you're right, its like when you can't take control of the right defender for some reason and he just jockeys thin air 😂

Ipswich can score goals which stands them in good stead tbf.. but if they dry up they will have serious issues
The two promotions mean they should stay up - they’re probably stronger than us overall. It’s why if we do go down this season it’s not the end of the world, as long as we come back up.

9 games in now and enough to start taking a sensible view on how the 3 promoted teams are shaping up.

We played the 3 best teams in the league (2 away) in our first 4 games. Hull haven't played any of them, Ipswich just 1. We currently sit 2 points behind them both.

We've picked up 9 points from our last 5.
Hull haven't won in 7 since we gifted them 3 points at the CBS.
Ipswich 1 win in 6 in all comps

I'm feeling a lot happier about life than I was 9 days ago that's for sure.

I'm with @Sick Boy , i think we take Hull soon and when we do we stay there. Their shithouse win at the CBS early in the season seems to still mean that online discourse is they are doing great and we are crap, I don't mind being underrated but its going to feel good if/when we do take them.

Lol you dont stay up because of how you do vs top 6.

You stay up if you beat the teams around you. So far they both doing OK in that front which is why it would have been literally nailed on relegation if we lost vs Sunderland. Have to win the massive 6 pointers or at least do not lose them.

The result vs Sunderland is psychologically a nail in the coffin for Sunderland. And would have been for us too.

Agreed which was my point.

Ignoring matches against the best 3 sides in the league (which its likely all 3 promoted sides will lose against) the season shows:

Hull P9 Pts 11
Ipswich P8 Pts 11
Coventry P6 Pts 9

I agree good point....but you also got to come out on top of the results vs direct bottom 6 competitors. The 6 pointers. Literally they are. Which is why Sunderland win was massive. Even a draw wouldn't have really cut it after a couple of bad results vs direct relegation candidates.

We have 3 points from 4 games. Vs bottom 6 teams. Even a point vs Fulham or Hull would make a world of difference.

It almost seems like you are actively cheering for Hull sometimes.

I cant stand Hull. But respect where it's due well set up know their limitations and not pretending to be anything they arnt.

They are punching. They will still be A direct rival. And everyone's waiting for their bubble to burst. Some have said it already has. But 2 defeats in 9 games says it all with a positive goal difference ( yes I know the narrative they been very lucky for 9 games now).

Im trying to be balanced.

Im loving this league. It's still the best league in the world (after a win).

You stay up if you do better across all 38 games than 3 other sides

3 promoted teams would of happily took what they have so far if offered before a ball was kicked. And if they still show signs come Jan then the recruitment will be easier for all. Lets see id love 3 pts Friday but 1 will be a good return for the 10 games so far.

It's just weird at this point. They've not won since the end of August and have got a very tough run of games coming up - I definitely wouldn't want to swap places/squads with them.

They also got 2 wins against sides who played right into their hands, I doubt thats going to happen again this season.

I think like us (and like Lampard finally did) they need to introduce more of their summer signings as the general Championshipness of their team catches up to them. Unfortunately for them, i really don't think they recruited that well outside of a couple of players. Our summer business, especially with the late addition of Gboho who really needs to be playing every week now, i think will prove to be a fair bit better.

Don't be daft, it's November nothing is a nail in the coffin at this point 🙄

This place is ludicrously black or white sometimes. The worlds caves in after a few losses and we are writing off rivals after a win 🤦
