I really hope the confidence and mentality hasn’t been knocked and they use this as a wake up call. Fans are feeling the reality check for sure.

Either the players aren’t responding to what he is saying or players can’t make the step up because the level is too much (and that’s not there fault, it’s ours for not being cut throat enough with who genuinely can or not).

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the thing that needs to change the most is the expectations of the fans.

Some of the comments about “pissing mid-table” are looking pretty embarrassing now. Even after today’s result, some of the reactions are bordering on delusional.

We haven’t been in this league — arguably the best league in the world — for a very long time. The whole mentality needs to change. We need to stay grounded and get away from this dreamy, fantasy attitude about where we want to or should be.

I’ve been telling people all summer that we’re one of the favourites to go straight back down. We aren’t champions in anyone’s eyes right now, and pretending otherwise is only setting ourselves up for disappointment. We need to respect the level we’re playing at and take it one game at a time.

To me we had a clear style, overload the wide areas and get high crosses into the box.

Problem is, it didnt work, was far too pedestrian and predictable and our crossing was poor.

I to find this very weird. We haven't sold a single player. You would have thought some Championship clubs would have come in for them, as they have title winning credentials. I mean Ipswich managed to sell Hirst to Stoke for £10 million, never worth that much but even so.

Has our summer recruitment been that good? Only time will tell but to me we have spent a lot but not took to many risks. If we don't survive we can probably get our money back on Yirenki, Amenda, Rushworth and Cherif. We will then only have used £20 million on Hamer, Pinnock and Big T, who will all be good enough in the Championship along with our championship winning squad that we have still got so no need to spend to much next summer on players and we can pocket most of our parachute payment and sales. I obviously don't want us to go down but our ins and lack of outs just don't sit right.

It isnt the championship where its a free for all and anyone can beat anyone. We are playing in a mini league where we can realistically expect to be competitive in about 15-20 games tops and thats where we have to pick up points. Losing against the only team in the league worse than us on paper and being 1/5 of points needed to have any sniff of survival behind them already is disastrous.

You can afford an off game against the worst team in the championship when you are title contenders, not here when you are 2nd worse team in the league.

You just need to get more points than 3 other teams, how you get them, or who against is irrelevant.
Of course yesterday was one we would have all earmarked as a great chance to get 3 points, and the performance was very poor, but that doesnt mean the whole season will continue in that way.

It was never going to be easy to make the step up to the PL as most would acknowledge . We've spent a lot so have most clubs. It's just the reality of the situation. If we can go down we try again and hopefully come back up like Ispwich have done and buy players of better quality. No guarantee of course. Yep, we're not set up to play a counter attacking game with rapid forwards, we're invested in the inverted wingers to create chances or get into a scoring position from the other flank with one central stiker. Cherif & Awoniyi together might become an option with 3 at the back but there is no cover if one of them can't finish the game. Frank has some hard choices to make but it's too early to be making a big change yet.

We are going to have to fight like dogs but we don't have the players to turn games into a scrap. We are far too soft and try to play the 'right' way. Hence why it took us until the 69th minute to make our first tackle against Arsenal, a game where we should have been tackling and fouling non stop.

Today we had more of the ball as we knew we would, and that suited Hull. As the game wore on, they set a trap and dared us to overcommit, which we did.

I think we are going to have to switch to a back 5 and potentially drop Grimes.

Finishing 4th from bottom was my dream and I won’t give up on it until proven unreachable.

On reflection we are all very disappointed. We don't seem to have found our feet yet. New players arriving quite late doesn't help in forming that connection between players. That will come & of course needs to come quickly. TBF to us our opening day fixture was the worse start possible yet in that game we were not embarrassed and gave away two goals self inflicted. We looked more composed at Arsenal than against Hull. It seems there are a few players getting stick but time will tell if they have the quality we need. Hull looked hopeless for 95% of the game in terms of threat, lets remember that. But it was their game plan and always in hope of a mistake or breakaway that stole the win, and so it proved. That's on us, it should never have happened. While we were ineffective during the game regardless of possesion, it seemed we lacked the confidence in the moment along with a lack of understanding between the players. Some admitedly need to find their A game. This is obvious as who would have considered DaSilva would be our best player so far? I hope he keeps it up. Others being thrown on to expect to alter the course of the game when they have barely played with each other is asking a lot. What was Hamer and Torp supposed to do? I guess both are potential game winners from a shooting perspective. FL will need to decide who is his best starting 11 with what's in front of him. Grimes worked hard yesterday and was not too bad, it was in front of him option wise which didn't work. The movement at times was not there. So it was sprayed wide again and again. I think on the showings so far we need an exciting signing like Mudryk on loan to bring up the expectation and raise the bar and confidence. It will get better I don't doubt it as we find our feet. (not looking forward to Man.City though in the very next fixture) Hull will play the same each week but ultimately go down. Spurs who spent a fortune are no better off than us. It's all to play for and a settled consistent side will emerge...
