So, to stay up next year we have to be better than Ipswich, Hull (neither of whom we won against this season interestingly)

Hopefully this thread can be an ongoing comparison of our recruitment throughout the summer.

Hopefully you lot can get on board with this and it can grow for comments and comparisons as the links and signings come through.....

Will we be able to beat Ipswich to signings and what will Hull's pulling power be like??

Hull will have to replace their entire team other than McBurnie and that goalkeeper?

Whereas I think we can bring in 6/7 players and have a go.

Really will be a battle of recruitment and how they fit in with the idea of club ethos / how the teams are going to play stylistically.

Our location and its ease of access has to add some value. Chuck in Binley Mega chippy on the doorstep and we will have the pick of players

Not too interested in hearing what many on here have to say on other teams recruitment tbh, you just know ours will be shit and Hull/Ipswichs' ones will be hyped. Much like many of our Championship rivals had overly hyped windows only to get completely smoked by us.

You know I'd appreciate it if you could contribute with your ability to bring balance to the thread.....
In only ways that you can!...👍😎

OK fine. I'll begrudgingly comment.

Surely Hull will be odds on for going straight back down. The last few windows they’ve only been allowed to bring in frees or loans.

TransferMarket gives them a squad value of 80 mill, at least 25mill of that must be the value of loans that will be returning to their actual clubs next month, so they have a squad value of just over 50 mill. Even if they spend 120mill they’d still only have a squad value similar to ours currently. A bit simplistic, but they have a much bigger hill to climb than us.

As to Ipswich, let’s hope they overpay for some real shitters. 😀

It's not always as simple as that.

Spurs could still go down this season with a £1B squad. Luton beat us on penalties to.go up, didn't spend much, then were the best of the 3 sides to go up.

Yes, there always outliers, and I did say squad value was a bit simplistic…. But they do have a much bigger hill than us to climb.

I fully agree, but although I think we have a decent chance of staying up there's a lot more to it than just signing players.

For instance I hope we don't aim too high and end up only bringing in second or 3rd choices late in the window.

Hull are in a transfer embargo until January… free transfers only they will be fuckedddd. Thats 20th place wrapped up, only two others to compete with

It's hard to judge, we won the league by some distance, the PL is a completely different ballgame. Most of Ipswich's squad played have already got prem experience so they may adapt a bit better and need less strengthening than us. Hull really only have McBurnie and man for man we are better than them all over the pitch.

They can spend on transfer fees this summer

Absolutely. We need a quality signing or 2 early in the window, to show other potential signings we mean business.

It's going to be a short summer for football because we have the world cup. But I can see it being a long summer for us as there won't be many signings until after the world cup 🤔

The champagne charlie foreign hull owner will take a 100M back to wherever he is from and ditch the blonde bird for another - hull will get no investment

Well, not really. We have to be better than three other teams; us finishing 16th, Ipswich 15th and Hull winning the league would also be fine.

If we stay up and they go down we could still sign him the following year, don't give up hope
Players like him were slightly realistic as a Championship side. We're now a Prem side. He would get murdered in the Prem.
