Match Thread Nottingham Forest vs Coventry City (A) - City Ground - Sat 19th September (5.30pm KO) (5 Viewers)

Grimes is our transition from defence to midfield, without him we either pass along the back 4 or it pump it long. He also helps out the defence when we play 4 at the back by dropping deep.
Both Torp and Yirenkyi can do that. The reality is Grimes has not been able to find the time to sit in the pocket and play quarterback like last season. He simply hasn't played that transition role so far, Torp and Yirenkyi interchanged at it quite well on Wed notwithstanding the result which was down to woeful defending.

I find it incredulous that folk are calling for Cherif to star. He was lightweight and didn't impress that much against Villa the other night. Simms is currently better IMO

I’m on the fence, I can see qualities in Cherif, what swings it for me is we’ve paid this money, he’s young and only going to get better with game time. If we’re going down priority has to be on juicing our assets and Simms is OOC at the end of the season.

To be fair Milan has been crap so far. So annoying KKH is out too. Could’ve been a good opportunity for him to stake a claim.
Only because he's not been played in tandem with Tats...they compliment each other... their overlapping has a clear understanding..

He relied on his pace to recover from his defensive frailties in the championship- we saw in the first game that will not happen at this level

Wasn't that because he didn't get rid IE; forgot his first duty.

We are very naive not strong enough.Thomas had a chance to stop Hull goal,Brighton 2nd Villa 1st but he was too scared to take a yellow card. Most experienced defenders in the premier will just bring them down because the finishing is so much better apart from ours of course.

I see why there are calls for a Thomas / Mfuni CB pairing. Mfuni looked full of confidence on Wednesday and Pinnock seems a panic signing - his (lack of) mobility and positioning are terrible.

However, I doubt FL will do that, purely due to the massive lack of experience.

So - assuming MVE is not injured - it’ll be:

MVE Thomas Pinnock JDS

Tbf that’ll likely be our back 4 next year so at least by then they’ll be a cohesive unit.

A tough game but forest are a weird team. A point would be a good result

Im worried about Delap.
Watched their game last week. Once he got that goal he wasn't different player and gave Villa real problems.

Amazing how,a goal can change a player.

Today’s formation is going to hinge a lot on if MVE is injured.
Someone has to play on the right regardless of whether it’s a 5 or a 4.

I’ve already seen someone suggest that Sakamoto could play RWB to which I’ve been physically sick at 1, the thought of it, and 2, how thick some people are.

It can’t be Lati otherwise just don’t get off the bus today.

Caleb has played at RB for Ghana on a number of occasions so he might be best fit for now.

Could be

Yirenkyi Thomas Pinnock JDS

Or

Yirenkyi Thomas Pinnock Mfuni JDS

Yes, you’re right - Latibeaudiere is a much better option, given his immense pace……

5-4-1 No wingers.
Rudi to play behind Simms.

Rushworth
Yirrekkyi Thomas Pinnick Mfuni Dasilva
Torp Grimes Oneykya
Rudoni
Simms

As per the stats on another thread. We are currently not working as hard as other teams. Running, tackling etc. If we want to get something today we need to graft much harder than we have been.

It's going to be a tough game. We need to give everything.
