Are we taking a big risk?

With a little more than 3 weeks or so to the season opener at Arsenal I question our preparations. With just two friendlies in that time, some players just back from World Cup duty, and still no indication of expected new signings, how can that be the best preparation?
Even if a couple of signings emerge there is not the friendlies or time to get the 'team' gelling together with any authority. So for me that is an error and could have consequencies to our start.
Am I over reacting? What say you...
One of the benefits of not turning over your entire team every summer like many dimwits on here demand is that you fit a few signings in to how you play quite easily

do you know for sure there wil only be 2 friendlies? Did you have any idea we were playing Leicester until they said we had?
Id hardly call that a proper friendly given they played a youth team as their 1dt team played Genoa later the same day

Its not good enough really, we knew before anyone else we were getting promoted. Lampard must be pissed off.
Well he refused to speak to local media at the leicester kick around at their training ground.

Bookies have him favourite to be 1st manager to leave their club in PL. To me it suggests he is more than pissed off and likely will be off in September.

You are being generous. This summer has been a disaster and King im afriad has sold fans up the garden path.

He is just happy to take the PL money and see us back in the Championship next season. It is clear the club has no ambition to stay in the PL thats abundantly clear.

I dont have that much of an issue with us having no ambition if we dont have the finances to make it as a PL club, but i have an issue with the the pricing structure at the club sold on the basis we will give it a good go in the PL whene obviously we have no intention to.

Remember when Benfica exposed us preseason 2-7. That was the season we stopped up last match at White Hart Lane.

I have genuinely been disappointed by the lack of social media activity full stop. Hardly any training clips/photos or interviews. Doesn’t sound like there’s much to hide so I find that a bit strange, thought they’d have been building a lot of hype around our return but it’s just the occasional post about the kits.

Hold the back page Matty Grimes has just been interviewed on Sky Sports News.

About a 2-minute interview. Ffs

I've heard some shit on this forum before but this absolutely rips the fucking shit out of it.

What aload of guff.

If it pains you that much just cry harder

I think the players possibly did too much last summer. It gave as a good start for once but the deep fatigue by Christmas was there for us all to see. The CBS friendlies will be about a dry run for all the new equipment for VAR and broadcast, I suppose as much as match sharpness. I'm hoping Arsenal will be behind us in their prep after the WC.
Was the Christmas slump about fatigue? Everyone involved with the club said it was down to illness. I tend to believe the players and managers version over anyone on here tbf!

I think Sakamoto probably benefitted from a break. But in terms of everyone else they all seemed to miss out and dip in form due to illness.

That said, if they thought a full on pre-season was required last year, they executed it and it worked. So if they think it isnt this time around, we can only trust in their judgement.

he's someone's new burner trolling account, no one is that thick

Apart from that Leicester fan who sometimes posts.

Do we how much DK has had to pay out to our illustrious previous owners as a result of promotion? Maybe part of the reason why we're not throwing money around?

Maybe there's 4 new players training with us, and we don't want to let the cat out of the proverbial
That has been my (delusional and wishful) thinking, as it is quite odd for us to show so little of pre-season preparations and they're doing it to hide who's involved.

You got to be one sad and desperate individual to have a fucking burner account on here.

Waster.

This from the poster that seriously thinks the moon is made of cheese and aliens run the world.
In fairness, Donald Trump is the "leader of the free world" so you could argue it is actually ran by aliens

Hamer has been brilliant for Sheff united, i cannot deny that, but the 3 years there and 3 years with us were his best 6 years, he is now 29 will be looking for a 3 year deal, and we will get a Hamer who will be in regression, and stuck with the contract until he is 32. he will not be the same player the championship has seen in previous years, if we are going to look at players with no resale value like Hamer would be, i would rather we spent our money and time on players with proper premier league experience who can offer something to our team.

he may be to good for sheff united, but thats becuase they've dropped off, he was to good for us when we was a mid table championship team, doesnt make him a prem player, makes him a top championship player, there is levels and we are not shopping at the level required, because we either are naive and do not think we need to, or have targets higher than our level and when we offer wages they laugh us off.

I get the feeling we have tried to bring players in but wages have been issue, we wasnt paying high wages last year so doubt we are offering big wages this year, as they will be scared of being stuck with contracts when we go down.

i am being very negative i know, im just very disappointed in our lack of summer business, was such a high of reaching the prem to disappointing feeling we are not doing anything to stay in the division.

someone mentioned we do not want DK telling world about our business like Hull owner and i agree, but if we intend to not do business id rather DK tell us, or tell us we are trying, doesnt need to say who, but at least give the fan base some hope we are trying
Sheffield fans say he is their best player, by far

I mean we’ve spent about £60m so far and broke our transfer record 3 times. Is that not throwing money around?

So pleasw sharw what there is to be optimistic about. I assume you are the woke generation? Under 40?

Yes

17 days to Arsenal and we are nowhere fucking near. Shambles
Im assured by oracles on this thread that there is nothing to worry about!
Please forgive me if i ignore the precious snowflakes . I think Shambles perfectly and succinctly sums this summer up

Where has the 60m come from? Has Rushworth actually been announced yet?

That will continue to be close until the end of time, however let’s say it’s done, as we all know it is.

FTT
Tuna
Amenda
Rushworth.

Few quid spent that.

While i think those are good signings 60 million is a massive over spend. FTT wasnt deemed good enough for Brentford, Tuna was poor at Burnley who got relegated, Rushworth not deemed good enough for Brighton. Amenda probably only one id say we have spent market value on, others we have had our pants down and now left us short it seems to get other targets

Some of you lot just never learn. Always ‘concerned’ about this, that or whatever else.

Same concerned citizens last year before the start of the season and in Feb when we had a wobble.

Overspend perhaps but still throwing a few quid at it. More than we’ve ever spent. Not sure what people expect / expected?

Doug laid his stall out and said what the craic was.

Tuna poor at Burnley, because all they do is defend. He will be class.. Rushworth top class
