Walsh handed the No. 8 shirt for the season.
An empty gesture, that’s all.

They have something like 8 top draw midfielders.

They play 5 at the back and 3 forwards.

Do the maths - doesn’t leave much opportunity / mins.

This guy is a winner, he wants to play no matter what. He ain’t gonna be happy sitting out.

Then they sign Chris Brunt!

I bet he’s feeling a bit disalusioned with the boss’s plans for him.

If he doesn’t sign a contract, then we will be in for him.

If he signs a contract, I wouldn’t rule out a loan.

So who do we drop in our team for Walsh then? Kelly - who we all agree is integral to the way we play or hamer - who is our big money summer signing and in robins' own words is the replacement for Walsh

We all need to forget about Walsh now as he isn't coming back (at least until next summer anyway ;) )

Walsh handed the No. 8 shirt for the season.

We've given Gervene Kastaneer No. 33 but he's all but out of the club. And Max Biamou is No. 9 and has hardly had a shout of preseason so the suggestions on here are that he's going/staying/out on loan.

A squad number just protects the team if they do have to call on the player, hence the need to declare the numbers by a certain date.

What number was Walsh last season, has that shirt been kept vacant?

Edit....He joined late he might not have had his preferred number last season.

Walsh was 12.

Brownhill was 8. He was sold to Burnley in Jan. Told you it was an empty gesture.

Can we put it to bed now?

Asked if he attempted to get Walsh back this summer, he (Robins) said: “I would have done but I knew the answer to it.

“There was never a chance; never a chance!”

Can we pin this quote to the top of the form please

Just another famous Robins bait and switch quote – similar to Kasta playing right back for us 😉

If Robins says he never had him a chance I expect we'll be announcing his signing soon!

Yesterday, Bristol City boss Dean Holden has suggested there are likely to be some more departures before the transfer window shuts next month, hinting that they may look to reduce numbers in midfield.

Walsh still hasn't signed the contract that's been on the table for 3 weeks. And absolutely no update from Holden, rather he side steps the question when asked in this interview – Dean Holden discusses progress of new deals for Bristol City trio

Imagine the box midlfield turning into a diamond! Sheaf at the base, O'hare at the tip, Walsh and Hamer in the middle

As of Tuesday update on his injury

"Walshy is waiting on a scan. He’s got a scan tonight. He’s still got this quad issue from post-covid. Hopefully we’ll get a bit of good news from that scan and we can push him on."

Quad tendons can be slow healers. I know I have one in my right knee 50 per cent permanently damaged.

Walsh walks into that Bristol City team when fit. We've got no chance unless he decides he wants to leave.

The narrow diamond gives me shivers as all I can remember about it is Thorn using it - Bigi at the base, Baker and David Bell in the middle and McSheffrey at the tip :poop:
