Everyone on Facebook and Twitter having "anxiety" and plastering it all over social media.

Just attention seeking and takes potential help away from people who may actually need it.

Blame the media and people like Piers Morgan for that, wankers who will jump at any chance to write something negative

This, just like when the Corbynites do it about the right wing media, is such a patronising approach to take. People can judge for themselves, they aren’t led astray by the likes of Piers Morgan. Be it on concern for the virus or liking Boris Johnson. Morgan and the tabloids are weather veins and their skill lies in reading the public mood and matching it, not Mysterio style persuasion tricks.

Tbh, I'm on about people going : "oh, the thought of leaving lockdown and socialising again is driving my anxiety crazy"

The same people who are out clubbing etc every weekend...

You say that but if mainstream media keeps pushing a certain narrative then those who are none the wiser or enter with no bias either way end up believing that

Just signed a petition on Change.org. All I wanted to do was sign, but then asked to give £2 or if not share the petition. When I refused them, they still sent another message for money and shares. Last online one I do, they can't just accept a name without going overboard.

Being offered no alternative other than paying my full holiday balance for something thats highly unlikely to happen or losing my full deposit.....:emoji_thinking:

Our hotel in tenerife has cancelled our 2 week holiday in August. They've refunded us. We now have to wait for Easyjet to cancel the flights to get a grand back off of them. I contacted them, they said they won't refund us if the flight departs, even though we'd have nowhere to stay.
Tossers.

We were due to go to Tanzania (holiday of a lifetime kinda thing) in July for my wife's 55th, and the final instalment was due sometime around now.
The tour company (Intrepid Travel, by the way - really good for off the beaten track stuff) cancelled that departure date about three weeks ago. Asked us what we want to do with the money - so we have rebooked for the same time next year, and they have given us 10% extra credit on our existing balance. So the final payment is now £200 less, and is due three weeks before we go, in June next year! All updated on our account page on their website. Amazing and efficient.
Were due to fly there with Qatar. They have yet to cancel the flight, meaning that we can only get a credit note (albeit valid for two years, and to 110% of the original value) unless we want to pay some hefty cancellation fees. But they aren't flying to any airports in Africa currently, so it's just a waiting game. If all else fails, we can move it to next year without incurring a charge.

Dickheads. Obviously they are going through a tough time at the moment but with the way some companies are treating people they are making it worse for themselves long term.

I can tbf understand why you might need the cash to stay open and / or feed yopurself and your staff.

However, my rule of thumb (and I'm sure I'm not alone) is anybody who's refunded me (and I've had to get a lot of refunds these past couple of months!!) I'll use again, while anybody else they can keep my deposit and shove it up their arse.

A lot of these travel and holiday lot have continued to appear to. market deals meaning regardless of whether they are likely to proceed they don't need to hand it over until the absolute limit.

Very naive to think people can judge for themselves.

I didn’t say they were good judges. Just that they don’t take their opinions wholesale from the media. Even stuff I disagree with I can understand the appeal/reasoning/human nature at play.

Its good to see that not all the holiday companies are cunts then.

I've just written off my deposit of £850 as I refuse to pay the balance for a holiday that won't happen, only to then spend months of hassle & chasing to get a refund.

Villa Plus are the greedy inflexible cunts I'm talking about. Thats Villa Plus. Don't ever use them folks....they're cunts.

It's unfair for places to keep money knowing full well that they can't fulfill the holiday. I haven't booked anything but my parents booked 2 weeks in a really nice hotel on one of the Greek islands to celebrate their retirement. Luckily they've only paid the deposit.

The funny thing is they are just agents, the poor fucker who owns the villa probably won't get a penny either

We had booked a ferry and the balance was due - they have delayed our departure but we would be quite happy to shift back one year as I have cancelled all the hotels but they can only do it it in stages - i am
Ok with this

It was 3.40pm. I'm sure you'd like to know.
Cheers.
Sincerely,
not as annoyed now.

The place we go skiing in the French Alps has a bar/restaurant owned by a Brit - their home-made toffee vodka is a thing of beauty - especially warming after a day on the piste!
