Saw that the reporting parameters in England were changed yesterday, hence only the lower number of deaths. Even with something as grave as this they're manipulating information. Piss fucking poor. It has been suggested on Twitter that England won't even report the number of deaths in the last 24 hours today.

I've been wondering how long it would be before the govt started lying about the figures.

If it was true you would imagine shit rags like the mail would be shouting about it not just a random anti media Twitter account

the clip is the BBC

and upon further investigation this is widely known now. You have to filter out some of the blatantly anti-Tory stuff but yes, its true, doctors are saying it as well.

While on a twitter excursion- what a shock, more lying.

Those tests that we were all told would be in Boots?

Coronavirus test confusion as No 10 admits it has no idea if they work | Daily Mail Online

  • A PHE official yesterday said home-testing kits could be available within days
  • But two firms at forefront of manufacturing them say they've still not had orders
  • Scientists claim the process to prove the tests work could take a 'few weeks'
  • Officials have still yet to reveal who is manufacturing the antibody testing kits

Also, would the issue discussed really make a difference to the figures. I can't imagine any relatives or next-of-kin saying they wouldn't want their loved ones death to be recorded in the figures. It's not as if they are asking to publish their names!!

I'm pretty sure that excuse is utter utter bullshit as well. The families do not need to consent to somebody being counted for the purpose of statistics.

Of course they don't. And in typical fashion, it deflects away from them onto someone else, in this case the families of people who have died. Classy as always.

And yet more bullshit

So essentially nobody has any idea about these tests, which now appears to be just more bullshit, but what we do know is that Lord Dyson received a huge order for prototype ventilators, which will need to pass the medical testing first and which will then take another few weeks to be brought into mass production. Meanwhile we are told that there is a 'tsunami' of acute ICU cases heading this way in a couple of weeks.

Depends if they roll in the missed hours from yesterday. Doubt it’ll go down from such a short period yesterday.

Optimistic: 60ish
Gut: 80+

Adds up with the footnote on yesterday’s data saying it wasn’t a full 24 hours.

Fucking ridiculous TBH. We’re all sat here wondering when we can get on with life and the government aren’t giving us the one stat that might tell us that.

So essentially a big chunk of mortalities will never be reported. Some will have no family, I highly doubt they have a guy going round getting consent from families, and sometimes the question will just never be asked. None of those will be counted. Yesterday's figures felt wrong at the time, now we know why. We're even taking a "scientific" approach to counting deaths.

Great that we’re up there with transparent liberal democracies like China and Iran.

I honestly have trouble believing this. Really hoping it’s confusion about the cutoff change and we’ll get proper numbers today.

They don’t ask for permission to record the numbers of deaths. If the times for collection of the stats has changed, there will be a one off blip and then it will proceed as normal.

Also for those that get excited/depressed about single numbers, that’ll likely mean a big spike today as it will cover 29.5 hours instead of 24.

I've actually given Boris some praise, though mixed in with criticism which I think is valid.
What I'm not letting go of is how under prepared we are and how 10 years of Tory government has left us more vulnerable than we should be in this situation.

People saying now isn't the time, well I'm sorry, now is deci itely the time,If for no other reason than to spur them into action.
We have 6 ICU beds per 100,000 to Germany's 29.
We have ICU staff without PPE or been asked to share PPE.
We have a shortage of ventilators even though the government were warned in 2016.

It's not good enough.
PPE shortage in Germany and US too

Because they don't understand the actual value and practicalities of a gold reserve and no it wouldn't as we can get better value in selling gilts
I’m not entirely convinced, but if you are right you have just destroyed the basic premise of my favourite Bond movie, Goldfinger.
