Yes. At that point we weren’t doing that well iirc. Proper cringeworthy moment for the club.

Those championship years were like death/dearth by a thousand papercuts.

Having said all that FGR away still riles me! Sat with the home fans having to listen to the fucking mustard corduroy wearing pricks…

This is a great point. Like the championship years were not as dramatically as bad, but we must have gone 10 years without any memorable league win in my mind. Only memorable days were in cup competitions

The commonwealth thing was so frustrating. Had such optimism going into that season to have it punctured. The season ended up going well, but that brief debacle was incredibly annoying and a reminder of limitations without owning our own stadium

Can laugh about it now, but at the time I was pissed off.
 
The Newport game at home in 17/18 was my Son’s first (of two) games he attended (after the amazing 3-2 comeback win v Bristol City, he declared that football was “boring” so have never bothered again). My Dad sent me a photo the other day of him (my Son) meeting Sky Blue Sam about 20 mins before the start of that game, remarking how busy it looked! (Have tried to anonymise photo for safeguarding concerns)

6-2 Yeovil was pretty much scraping the bottom of the barrel plus some of the shite signings which thankfully i have forgotten about

people might say Northampton - but the football from the likes of Wilson and Clarke wasnt bad !
 
The lowest points came for me when the utter c*nts SISU announced the launch of yet another inevitably fruitless court action usually around the beginning of the new season. Soul destroying nonsense!
 
Sky Blue Sams picture reminds me of another low point. Can’t remember the game. But there was a match where they had lost or damaged Sam’s costume.

However they still sent him out before the game with just a head. So we had the freakish sight of a human male, in shorts and t shirt, with an elephants head.

As funny as it was, it was just a reminder of the low standards within the club. No one cared.

In the Highfield Road days it seemed they used to wash the costume at the start of the season, so the fabric was all clean and puffed up. By the end of the season it had acquired chip stains/ grease and when he used to wave at the crowd, you could see the stitching had started to come apart around the elbow.
 
Where to start... the initial depression from losing at Villa and confirming our relegation out of Premier League, then the SISU debacle, playing in Northampton and not being able to watch my team play at " home", Andy Thorne and Russell Slade years, but top of my most depressing moments is losing at FGR after hiking up a fucking 1:30 Hill, queuing through the single away supporter entry gate, not being able to buy a meat pie (bastard vegans), buying piss vegan beer, standing in an uncovered away stand with it pissing down with rain, their fans giving it the large one, Brad Collins in goal for FGR and walking out at the end with my son questioning was it all worth it. Nothing will ever beat that for me.

They decided to search my 60 year old wife on the way into the FGR game in the rain - she had a phone in her pocket and they wanted to see it - holding up the crowd trying to get in bloody ridiculous she hardly looked like a terrorist

Even though league 2 was lowest we been the worst times came in league 1 it feels like
 
I suppose there was worse to come but the day we were relegated from the top flight sticks with me. It was just at the time that it was becoming really lucrative to be there and we had been pushed off the bus at just the wrong time. Being docked points and playing at Sixfields will always be up there.
 
I'm sadistic, I enjoyed the league 1 and league 2 days. As in for the ground hopping and banter there was to be had
 
Yeovil at home when Hyam was torn a new one.

Draw against Charlton. Confirming our relegation to the lowest tier also a fucking low point.

Worcester City.

Cambridge Utd.

Tranmere at home (Sixfields) 5-1 defeat which has been erased from most folks memories but was fucking awful for those in attendance.

Christ it’s incredible how many not just bad but horrendous moments we have had. Saw someone say they after all we have been through relegation this season holds absolutely no fear for us. Let’s fucking attack it!

I've definitely had better months than that one... on the back of the failure to even make the playoffs the year before, that period really did feel like we had let the last rope to safety slip through our fingers- it was just a case of how much lower we'd go before the club folded.

I think I might dig out my tatty old 'Sisu Out' shirt (prepared for a 3-2 league cup defeat at Leyton Orient in the 1st Sixfields season) for the pub on Fri night. Should clash nicely with all the box fresh gooner shirts.

That Orient game was around the time of the two cup thrashings at the Emirates. I wouldn't class them as the lowest points purely for the atmosphere the SBA created (and seeing us take 7k away was a precursor to seeing 40k at Wembley for the Checkatrade). Even with this Fri being a bit of a free hit, the contrast in expectation and belief is unreal.
 
The cancer that was sisu. After watching the asset stripping, rent strikes, alienation of the Sky Blue Army with stadium homelessness, focus on never ending court appeals, ring fencing viable assets into their own companies (otium etc), limited investment into players, training ground... I honestly thought CCFC was a dead club.
 
Probably the off field shit was the worst to stomach. The council selling our ground to an out of town rugby club was up there. Pwkh putting Sisu out balloons on Tim Fishers car was another highlight. Our club shop being a table outside the ground. There's endless amounts of shit that I've probably forgotten.
The divide amongst the fan base was the worst thing to happen, proper toxic for a while.

We're in a good place atm, let's enjoy it.
 
Not lowest point but made me absolutely furious at the time and for years afterwards: the deal we accepted from Bournemouth for Callum Wilson. £3 million (was it?) plus 3 of their cast offs, Mcquoid, Alsop and Coulibaly. Just showed how desperate we were, basically selling off the family silver for way less than we should have got and shooting ourselves in the foot by accepting dross instead of more money. Still get angry when I think of it now, need to let it go! :)

He also said 'you will all be back after a couple of wins' when we had a hand poll of who wouldn't go to Northampton. Smarmy, arrogant disgraceful bastard.

In terms of games... Newport away in the pouring rain with no roof.. drew 1-1 with a last minute Biamou equaliser. Also i remember Shrewsbury away.. think it was midweek and we were 3 or 4 down by half time. Their was a cup game too might have been Bury. We lost 3-1 and Roy O'Donavan scored off his shoulder... his only goal for us. I was absolutely raging that night. Disgusting performance
 
The League One relegation season after years of failure, followed by Thorn remaining employed at the end of September in his first full season managing us.
